Katie Holmes: 30th Birthday Coming Soon!
Katie Holmes takes 2-year-old daughter Suri for a stroll in New York City in Tuesday.
Later this week, Tom Cruise has something “special” planned for Katie, who turns 30 on Thursday
“We’re gonna celebrate, I’ll be here in the morning with her,” Tom told Access Hollywood. “I’ve got some special things… that I have in store for her. It’s gonna be a great day for her.”
Tom and Katie will be celebrating her birthday early Thursday morning. That evening, he has the LA premiere of Valkyrie and she has her Broadway play, All My Sons.

I agree that she holds her close for security. Yet, they could slip in and out without so much attention. YOU KNOW they could get a secret entrance. Tom’s PR rescue plan must require frequent exposure with him keeping his mouth shut most of the time. He had to restrain himself on the Today show… you could feel him wanting to spill his gut!!!! Kept talking over Lauer.

I don’t understand the public’s fascination with this child, and how she is being raised……..I would HATE that kind of scrutinization every time I had ours out in public……..What WOULD any of you do any different if you were Katie?…..And don’t say ” leave by a side door”, OR ” leave through the garage”….OR, ” i would NOT pimp out my child “…..Suri HAS to come out in public…That is ridiculous…all the other celebrities bring their children out….The Cruise’s just happen to be the focus of interest, outside of the Jolie-pitts…..

i believe parenting is all about taking grounds, didn’t NICOLE have to raise her kids under d watchful eye of SCEINOS (altho she never became a member) but there was never a time they were over exposed or allowed to walk aroud during the winter season without their coats on, even till date, because she recognised her role as the parent and not some WACKY SCEINOS. So either KH is so dumb and stupid to an extent of letting the whole CELEB-TOT get in her head therefore over exposing her child or she’s not as strong as her MANIACAL FANS claim cos we’ve had loads of them on this board claiming “KATIE STANDS UP TO TOM MORE THAN NICOLE EVER DID” if we have to judge by pics well i guess we all know who is STRONGER and STOOD UP for herself when it concerned her kids

I’m curious.. how many celebrities have been to see the nutcracker and have allowed a photographer back stage with them to be photographed? How many celebrities have been to FAO (toy store) shopping and have allowed a photographer inside to take pictures? These types of things aren’t a normal, public outing… it is parents purposely exposing their child to the media.. for whatever their reasons may be.

While I agree with many of your points–like the coat, the blanket etc. I do believe they are exposing that child to the paps deliberately–which in my mind is pimping her out for photo ops.
Having worked in the media where we would have big name stars come in for interviews–many of them would ask us to take them in the back way or if they met our interviewers elsewhere–they’d go in the back way or easily evade the paps.
Anyone who works in the media, security etc., in NYC knows there are ways for the very famous to enter and exit privately.
You speak of the Jolie-Pitts. You rarely see good pictures of the kids inside a store or place. They are usually taken wiht a long distance lens as they are often fuzzy.
So how did the paps get such clear pictures of Suri in FAO Schwarts or at the Nutcracker? At one point after the divorce Bella and Connor lived with Nicole in NYC–you didn’t see the kids photographed ad nauseum and there was plenty of interest in the two kids after the divorce. Nicole guarded their privacy.
If Suri looked comfortable with the cameras and flashes and shouting like the Jolie Pitt children generally do or Violet Affleck, Matilda Ledger and the rest of the famous kiddos–I don’t think her being “papped” out would bother folks half as much. But she doesn’t. She often looks upset, distressed, etc. Which does make the general public wonder why Tom and Katie would subject her to this day after day.
LA is crawling with paps yet you rarely see Suri. I have got to believe Tom and Katie are media savvy enough that they could pull off the same non-exposure in NYC. I don’t think they want to. It is one thing to see Suri occasionally, it is another to see her day-after-day.
Remember that these people are ACTORS. All the world is a stage for these artistic but mentally challenged individuals. Suri, like so many other actors kids, is just a prop to her parents. She is like a Chanel purse, a fashion accessory. Why do you thing Katie has to dress her up in such finery day after day after day!! The daily walk is a thrill for Mom. It is another role to play and get approval. The real tragedy it that Suri is going to grow up thinking she is a Queen and all the little people are on this earth to look at her and adore her. Hopefully she will become as actress type like her mom, because God knows she won’t be able to do anything else but sell her image, like her parents are teaching her to do.
Why not let her stay at home and wear her fuzzy jamies all day. Make hot chocolate, string popcorn, learn to make her bed and pick up her toys, get her a hamster, teach her routines and rules. Sing songs with grandma.. I don’t know what Katie is trying to proof. The poor woman is exhausted and trying to be all things to everyone, At the end of rehearsals and shows we see you out and about at all hours of the day and night. GO HOME!! Be rested and well, Meditate and be quiet for awhile. Teach Suri to seek peace, not this circus of a llife!

I have wondered why Katie does not seem interested in her beautiful new home? (my personal observation). Didn’t they just move in this past spring? If that was my home I would never want to leave! Maybe someone can fill me in about that?!

Well Mr. Blonde I was answering Victoria.
However, having worked in the media, I know they could be more private and move more privately around NYC. They choose not to. And in doing so they open themselves for criticism sine Suri looks distressed.
And by the way in case you want to, as usual, deride my experience in working in the media–I’ve close to 30 years of experience at radio stations, television stations, and a film studio. When I say BIG names–I mean BIG names. They managed to avoid paps with their kids and without their kids.
AND Mr. Blonde–you do not see pictures of SURI out in LA on a daily basis. If so, do provide us all with links. If you can remember back that far before NYC–the rags would often publish titles like “WHERE’s SURI?–Been weeks since we’ve seen her.” So where was she? Trapped at home with the crazy scientologists? Or perhaps, just perhaps, Tom and Katie move around LA without the paps following them because the take the back ways, the private entrances etc.
Use your brain.
If suri were my claim to fame and money, I’d hold onto her pretty tight too. (And I can’t stand the way she keeps kissing her head.)

Mr. Blonde, I’m really sorry you don’t believe me–i.e., working in the media. But I have. And I’ve seen first hand folks like Springsteen, McCartney, and Oprah move around without the paps following them. I’m sure that Tom and Katie can too.
And I certainly don’t waste as much time here as you do. I don’t answer every post nor do I read every post and formulate an answer. I also read a thousand words a minute (tested Mr. Blonde) and type over 100 words per minute (again tested Mr. Blonde). So in the short time it takes me to skim the posts and type a reply, you are probably still reading the first ten posts and formulating your replies.
The truth is you don’t want to believe the Cruises can find alternatives to pimping out Suri. Your psyche can’t deal with the fact that your idols might be less than perfect. Which includes your denial of Tom having plastic surgery although if you were to go back and check the early blog threads of Jared and compare his pictures to now–well it is perfectly obvious to anyone who has an open mind.
You just keep your ego and psyche in denial. Tom and Katie obviously need your support. Valkyrie is tanking big time with the reviews and will probably tank at the box office as the decision to release the film on the date chosen was really stupid. YOu said in a previous post that it wasn’t expected to garner any awards. Haha. That is why they released the movie in 2008 on the date they did instead of moving it to 2009. They were sure it would get awards!

First of all, of course Katie has to carry Suri. She’s surrounded by hundreds oh photographers. It would be way to dangerous to let her walk by herself. Secondly, Suri needs a blanket to shield her eyes from the flashing bulbs. And anyways, why can’t a 3 year old carry a blanket? That seems perfectly fine to me. Maybe instead of criticising, you should think about the situation and have some sympathy. Katie Holmes is beautiful and no one should say otherwise. Ever think she’s not wearing shoes because she’s a normal little 3 yr old. Many 3 year olds will throw tantrums about not wearing something. Stop looking at everything in such a negative light! It’s not like Katie doesn’t have the money to put shoes on her child, and it’s not like she never wears shoes. One day she happened to not wear shoes and it’s nothing to fret about.
AGREE ” JENNY “….We ALL need to have some tolerance over each other’s opinions…..Good Lord, that is all they are….I also saw the picture ( above ) ( number # 43 had it ), and Suri was NOT ” eating a treasure she just had found ” …….her little finger was just AT her mouth, but NOT IN HER MOUTH……Let’s don’t make her out to be a nasty child……….There is NOTHING wrong with Katie kissing her daughter….So what if she has a cold sore?……The weather is cold and dry…..Everyone, ( I do ) at some point gets cracked and dry lips…..Look at how often she has to be made-up for her play, only to wipe it off again…..Then do her OWN make-up at home….That is hard on a face……Let’s quit judging her since we don’t know ANYTHING!!!
