Eddie Murphy is The Riddler
Eddie Murphy will play Gotham villian The Riddler in the next Batman movie, reports The Sun.
The 47-year-old former Beverly Hills Cop was tapped by British director Christopher Nolan to reprise the role played by Jim Carrey in 1995’s Batman Forever.
The studio has also reportedly signed up Transformers star Shia LaBeouf, 22, to play Robin. Rachel Weisz is rumored to be taking up the Catwoman role.

Christian Bale said in an interview at a press conference he wouldn’t do the Batman movies if they ever introduced Robin. Don’t blame him really it was always a corny role even in the comics. No director in their right mind would hire Eddie Murphy to be the riddler. They need someone relevant who’s not a complete movie theater killer. A good scenario for the next movie should go like this:

Since the Sun or Star or whatever celestial sphere its called isn’t exactly the worlds most credible source im going to wait until its actually confirmed by the director. Last time i checked Nolan hadn’t even been confirmed to direct the next one. I know there’d been a rumour a while back that Johnny Depp was being considered for the Riddler as well. I know it was just a rumour but i like that rumoured casting way better than this one. Eddie Murphey is funny in Shrek but most of his other movies aren’t that great. Plus i think Johnny would be better at making the Riddler a bit more vilainous. Jim Carey was pretty good though.

To have Eddie Murphy as The Riddler would be a cruel joke. The man has not had any usable talent for years. He is way to self asorbed to play the role..next thing you know he’ll want to be Batman and every other important role in the film. This better be a joke. What a hideous casting job otherwise! I thought they weren’t having Robin in the film? And Eddie as The Riddler is just plain yuck. I cannot imagine him in the role at all.

Absolutely ridiculous choice! This will ruin the franchise, just like the other Batman movies were. Also, no one should even be considered for the role of Catwoman besides Angelina Jolie

Eddie Murphy might have fit in as Riddler in the old 1960s TV series or in the Burton / Schumacher movies. I doubt that he would fit in as Riddler in the current Nolan / Batman series of movies. I would prefer Nolan cast a serious or dramatic type of actor as Riddler, this would fit in more with the tone of his movies and would go against type (previous Riddlers having been comic actors). I’d even favour a complete retcon job of the Riddler and have him work as both an ally with Batman and his enemy as well!
Yeah Jim Carey would bee dope as a serious role for the joker.. cause he can mix in that qwerkyness.

this message goes out to all the people who have posted these ridiculous opinions. ok, sure this article might be a load of garbage but if its not, who are you to judge this casting choice? we have no idea how Eddie would play out in the role. Take Heath Ledger for example….. he played a gay cowboy…. noone expected the amazing performance he had as the joker. Why can’t you give Eddie the same chance as the Riddler? Obviously the casting crew saw something in him to benefit the role. If it is true its not like they just pulled his name out of thin air. Personally i dont think it will be near as good of a performance as Heath Ledger had but i think we would all be surprised at how good of a riddler he would play.

before anyone critisizes eddie murphy just remember everyone had their doubts about heath ledger playing joker and he wound up playing the hell out that part, so before we throw out the idea let’s just hope that eddie uses his comical genuis and do a good job.
Trust me, this is a load of bull. Nolan himself said he’d lock himself in his trailer if EVER anyone suggests to use a Robin in his film. Don’t believe everything you see, kiddies.
