Daniel Eric Gold Joins Ugly Betty
Charlie Wilson’s War star Daniel Eric Gold has snagged a recurring role in Ugly Betty, reports EW.
The up-and-coming actor will play Matt, a friend Betty (America Ferrera) meets at YETI (Young Editors’ Training Initiative).
Betty and Matt have a future together, one that involves a big secret Matt has.
Looks like it’s the end of the storyline for Betty’s current love interest, Jesse (Val Emmich)!

Is Jesse the neighbor? If so, he isn’t her boyfriend on the show.
JJ said he was her love interest, not her boyfriend.
I just think they need to stop adding new characters and concentrate on the regulars. It’s already a large and very entertaining bunch!

well what do I think? that they should stop trying to go back to romance with new characters . I just don’t know why they had to get rid of Gio (or Henry) if they were going to focus AGAIN in romance (and not in her independent career as ABC people claimed)

That picture doesn’t do him justice, because on the show he was adorable. They make an odd match, but his character is likeable.

I love Matt. He’s adorable and Betty should stay with him, unless he’s hiding something. Henry was a wimp and Jesse was a jerk. I think Matt looks a bit like Tom Cruise and sort of sounds like him too.
Isn’t he the same guy that won a contest impersonating Tom Cruise on Entertainment Tonight a couple months ago? Mario Lopez showed the tape of his impersonation to Tom Cruise.
He is cute! He reminds me of Josh Groban. That is not a good picture of him. He looks better on the show.
I realized tonight looking at the show that I think he is attractive. He is not a typical “hot”. I don’t know what it is about him… charisma? Or maybe, he just reminds me of my own boyfriend in a way.
But OMG! In the show, he is sooooo hottt! Freakin hot!! I swear, I never met a boy cuter than him in my life (ok, maybe…) but when you get past the small beard and mustache, you’re gonna love him. I am glad he is going to be on this show. Good luck DEG (and with him in this show, it should be interesting…)!
oh and um, you people are right. On the show, he looks quite a bit like Josh Groban, a spitting image, an unknown twin. COOL!! =)
I just saw the latest episode of UGLY BETTY and this guy is growing on me. Love the fact that he called Betty his girlfriend for the first time. Loving this character. He made me forget Henry (which I thought was hard to do) and that’s a good thing!

Although I hate they keep giving her love interest after love interest (why can’t she just have a male friend?), he seems like a keeper! The writers have done a great job making his character lovable!!
(By the way, when I first saw “Matt” I thought he looked like Josh Groban so I was immediately intrigued! I adore Josh!)

He is really Hot and totally love him for Betty… I think he is really good for her and is helping her grow up… I like that he sees beyond the braces, wild clothes, and he finds her attractive…. I love Matt!!!!! I agree that the picture does not do him justice at all….
I think he’s cute & hope he sticks around for a while.. Hopefully this relationship will be a long-term one..Like everyone says, for someone who is suppose to be “ugly” she seems to attract a lot of guys. He seems to be a liitte more on an even level (personality wise) with Betty than her previous relationships. (not too nerdy, but yet able to put Betty in her place when she needs it)

I love Matt in Season 3… he palyed the role of a Prince Charming (although many thinks he’s not at par with Henry), and a very big plus… is the way he stood for Betty many times… the way Hanry can never do.
I wish they get back together in Season 4.

He is SO HOT!!! He isn’t so much photogenic, but in the show he so handsome and a good actor.
