Angelina Jolie Covers Germany’s Comopolitan
Angelina Jolie takes the January 2009 cover of Germany’s Comopolitan. Interview highlights as follows:
On finding time for her family, acting career and commitment as a UN ambassador: “Well, I do take my time outs. And most of all I do receive support from Brad [Pitt]. We are a good team. That is important to me and gives me strength… I cannot sit quietly while others die of hunger and children. My commitment for the United Nations I do not want to abandon. The play has no greater priority. In February, I still turn a movie, then I suppose one years off.”
On surviving each day without a nervous breakdown: “I’m very disciplined. I have a balanced diet and among other things I do Pilates. If I’m fit I feel more comfortable and I do have a lot more energy.”
On playing the role of a mother in Changeling, whose son disappears without a trace: “Just the idea of such a possibility made me go completely crazy. Initially, I wanted to cancel it. But the strength and self abandonment of this woman made be accept the role.”

Thanks for posting the LA Times interview with Brad. It was a great interview. For the trolls/haters who think that the old hag was Brad great love, think again fools. She was just a bump in the road he had to deal with before he met Angie, his true love and the mother of his kids.
Some of my favorite parts:
“It’s a tragedy in the sense that any love involves loss, and that’s the risk you take,” Pitt responds. “And the greater the love, the greater the loss. I certainly feel that now with the woman I’m with, and the children that I have. But whatever the course may be, this time together is extraordinary.”
“I had a whole other life and I got to experience a lot. And I probably got away with more than I should,” he says. “And it kind of ran its course, you know, it kind of hit a dead end.” Fatherhood, he notes, is “the direction I always thought I would go in. But not until, with Angie and it felt like a natural evolution, a natural direction.”
Top 10 Movie Performances
1. Kate Winslet as Hanna Schmitz in The Reader
2. Viola Davis as Mrs. Muller in Doubt
3. Dakota Fanning as Lily Owens in The Secret Life of Bees
4. Kimberly Rivers Roberts as herself in Trouble the Water
5. Angelina Jolie as Fox in Wanted
Jolie certainly has the skill and, even more, the ambition to be a serious actress, as indicated by her bereaved heroines in A Mighty Heart and Changeling. But the contours of her face and body are so improbable and arresting, her stature and sexuality so imposing, that she’s simply not designed to play ordinary people. She’s much more satisfying as a fantasy or cartoon character. In Timur Bekmambetov’s zazzy action film, she plays Fox, a member of Morgan Freeman’s gang of supposedly sanctified assassins. The role is a blend of Jolie’s previous adventuresses: the CIA killer lady in Mr. and Mrs. Smith crossed with Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, the daredevil pilot from Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and the witch-goddess of Beowulf. (Oh, and her Tigress in Kung Fu Panda.) Densely tattooed, richly skilled in the automotive and firearm arts, Fox reeks of a take-charge sexiness we’ll call feminismo. The actress herself might be a saint from some cinematic fertility cult: Holy Jolie.

I am bummed that I am not seeing CCOBB today/tonight. I just had dinner, and it is raining here in SD, and tomorrow I have to work, so will see it on Saturday.

I’m sorry if this has been posted before, but I just found from jjb.com a very amusing fan fiction about the beginning of Brad & Angie’s relationship. The funny thing is I have a feeling that this is the actual story behind their love.^-^

Good evening everyone…Couldn’t relax till I posted my personal thoughts on CCOBB…It was everything I thought it would be and more. I literally had a headache from the crying. Brad’s performance was endearing and surreal. Everyone’s performance was amazing and perfect for their roles. It all just fit and humor from his mother and other people in the nursing home balances the dramatics and mystic nature of the film. You really become entranced and sweep up in this grand tale that becomes more than story but a reality. It’s very bittersweet. Hope everyone get to watch it this weekend. It was truly worth the wait. My husband enjoyed it and that’s saying a lot about a man who doesn’t like long movies or love stories. I hope to see it again with my mother this week.
On a funny note…When we bought our tickets, there was sign posted stating that their footage of Marley and Me was damaged for the first 15 to 20 minutes and so they suggested that people see another film. Don’t know if people really choose to watch the dog movie or not but CCOBB was full and men and women all around were literally crying or just choked up throughout the film…

Just read some of the other posts…Glad so many went to today and enjoyed the movie…I don’t understand the crazed critics who thought that the film was distant or cold either because felt so connected to the characters and I literally lost it when he had to make that choice without spoiling anything for everyone else. I can’t shup up about it…

Brad said something that cracked me up because I know every studio head in HW made a mad dash to find out who owned the rights…he and Angie in a remake of the remake of “The Getaway”….
-
Over all, though, it’s nice that Charlie Rose wasn’t as talky as he was the last time Brad was on….cuz that was annoying…

I shouldn’t even get so much glee out of this statement from Brad, but basically he’s just told the world, “I DID NOT WANT MY CHILDREN TO HAVE THAT DUMB SLAG JENNIFER ANISTON FOR THEIR MOTHER!”

Hmmmm….once X gets wind of this she’ll have to put the Ass & Cooch Show into high gear earlier than she planned…
Merry Christmas Jolie-Pitt fans. Would be seeing Brad’s movie this weekend!
I think button has staying power.

WHAT A DOGGONE CHRISTMAS! Matinees Show ‘Marley & Me’ #1, ‘Benjamin Button’ #2, ‘Bedtime Stories’ #3, ‘Valkyrie’ #4
THURSDAY 7 PM: When it comes to North American moviegoing habits, this rule is primo — don’t ever bet against a pooch. Sources are telling me that very early box office grosses based on Christmas Day sales (matinees, late afternoons, early evenings) show that 20th Century Fox’s Marley And Me based on the bestselling book is beating the competition “by a mile”. So far the Owen Wilson tearjerker about a man and his dog is No. 1, up 25% over the next best earner, Paramount’s Oscar buzzed The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt. “It’s a classic dovetail: Marley’s strength is smack in the middle of the country and the south, while Button is strong on both coasts,” one studio insider tells me. I also hear the heavily marketed Benjamin Button is rapidly selling out today because of demand and its long running time. Surprisingly, #3 went to Disney’s Bedtime Stories which had been expected to lead the pack of five films opening today and was underperforming by half. But the order should shift as the day goes on because of the Adam Sandler starrer’s short running time. No. 4 was MGM/UA’s Valkyrie, which is definitely doing business. While it still will be Tom Cruise’s 2nd smallest debut since 1986 (first was his UA flop Lions For Lambs), at least it’s not stillborn. And another surprise is the 5th place showing of holdover Sony’s Seven Pounds, again demonstrating Will Smith’s box office drawing power even in a downer film. Taking a hit from the new openers is Warner Bros’ Yes Man comedy which moved down from 1st to 6th. Remains to be seen if Jim Carrey gets a payday on this film. (See my previous, The Worst Talent Deal Ever?) Refresh for constant updates…
WEDNESDAY PM: Big movies, big stars, big holiday weekend, and, if the weather cooperates, there’s a certainty of big box office grosses. For weeks now, Hollywood studios have been hotly anticipating today’s opening of five high-profile movies with potential to be blockbusters because Christmas releases on average have a 6.9 multiple. But there’s still more snow and ice storms forecast for up and down North America threatening to lower yet another weekend’s movie ticket take overall and prevent 2008 from having a banner year:
#1. First up, Disney’s Bedtime Stories starring Adam Sandler, kids, gumballs… C’mon, this is gonna be huge, and it’s got the widest release of all five pics. Who cares about the awful reviews? The pic looks like fun for kids and their parents, and it’s only 99 minues long. The very strong family tracking looks a lot like this holiday season’s Night At The Museum, which also starred a funnyman to draw in general audience (Ben Stiller), had stinky reviews, but made $575M around the world. Playing in 3,681 theaters, Bedtime Stories should open to $40+M over the 4-day holiday, according to my box office gurus.
#2. Right behind it is 20th Century Fox’s heavily marketed Marley And Me based on the bestselling book. All my movie analysts don’t dare bet against a dog movie. (Remember how well another PG pic about a pooch, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, debuted earlier this year? How about $29.3M on its opening 3-day weekend, all for the cost of canine food.) This is undoubtedly Owen Wilson’s comeback pic. The movie is tracking big with females of all ages, and well with (Old Yeller-fixated?) older males. It’ll do well on Friday’s date night as long as girlfriends remembers to stuff Kleenex in their purses, and their boyfriends aren’t too embarrassed to walk out of the theater crying. Seriously, are audiences adequately prepared for the plot denouement? The marketing campaign doesn’t dare hint at it. Running into 3,480 venues, it’s got Christmas Day’s second widest release. My box office gurus expect a $30M opening for the holiday long weekend. I think it could go higher and maybe beat Bedtime Stories for No. 1.
#3. Receiving good reviews and great Oscar buzz and a gargantuan awards campaign, Paramount’s The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button is certainly going to be sampled. Still, there’s some skepticism about the box office potential of what is now being referred to as “Hollywood’s most expensive art flick”. Not to mention what could be an $80M P&A campaign. (Then again, studio boss Brad Grey feels a special obligation to try to win an Oscar for his former management client Brad Pitt and their once joint production company Plan B.) All those new Golden Globe nominations will surely help market the film which is tracking strongest with females over age 16 and males over age 25. But the PG-13 pic’s hefty 2 hour, 47 minute running time will limit its box office gross. Still the studio is hoping that the strong word of mouth could push Benjamin Button to a great multiple. (One Paramount exec tells me the pic could play like The Pursuit Of Happyness whic
Sorry .My above post didn’t make that 5k character limit that jared imposed.

I dare say, U are correct. He also said Life with the HAG was a dead end. He didn’t want to start a family with her.
++++++++++++++++++
Yep. He threw X under the bus…again. And you know the next time she does an interview the stupid cow will go on and on about how she thinks Brad is doing so great and that there’s no animosity between them. No animosity my left Little Piggy toe… She constantly brings up their names…and Brad obliquely refers to HER as “I had this whole other life…it ran it’s course…it hit a kind of a dead end…” Verifying what we already knew - X IS NOTHING MORE THAN A DEAD END.
Thanks for bdj for the link…Great review and so true to how I think everyone feels who really went open to see a great film…
Finally got to see the Charlie Rose interview online. Great interview…Thanks all for the link and early heads up…
I AM SO angry. TONIGHT THREE OF MY FRIENDS WERE TO M EET ME AT THE MOVIES TO SEE CCOBB. I ARRIVED FIRST AND WENT TO THE WINDOW TO PURCHASE TICKETS, FIRST THE TICKET LADY SAID THE MOVIE WAS ALL SOLD OUT, I SAID TO HER, IS THE BRAD PITT MOVIE ALL SOLD OUT, AND ASKED WHEN WILL THE NEXT MOVIE SHOW, THAT IS WHEN SHE SAID, THAT SOMETHING HAPPEN TO THE MOVIE AND WAS SKIPPING SECTIONS AND THEY WILL NOT BE SHOWING IT FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT. I THEN ASKED WILL THEY HAVE IT FIXED AND SHE DID NOT KNOW. tHEY HAD MARLY AND ME ADVERTISED NEXT TO CCOBB. I LIVE HERE IN DESOTO TEXAS AND THE MOVIE IS LOCATED ON PLEASENT RUN. I TRIED TO MAKE A PROTEST., BUT THEY ARE NOT ANSWERING THEIR PHONES AT THAT THEATRE. THE PARKING LOT WAS FULL OF PEOPLE GOING TO THE MOVIE TONIGHT, THERE WERE HARDLY ANY PARKING SPACE. I HOPE THEY ARE NOT PULLING SOMETHING WRONG HERE, BECAUSE THERE WERE ALSO SOMETHING WENT DOWN WITH CHANGELIN AND WE DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO SEE IT HERE.

Good evening everyone…Couldn’t relax till I posted my personal thoughts on CCOBB…It was everything I thought it would be and more. I literally had a headache from the crying.

LOL! The same thing happened to me! I’m usually not a weepy willow at movies like this, but this one got to me. After it was over I thought, “Well…now I understand why Brad said it makes you want to call your parents and hug your kids…” When the movie was over the audience was very subdued at they left and I could hear convos about how deeply they were touched by the film - especially the ending and what happened with Daisy.
-
BTW - For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet - with the commericials and trailers it’s well over 3 hours. More like 3 hours 10 minutes. So go to the bathroom beforehand and keep the drinking to a minimum. Throughout the movie I several people around me had to go to the bathroom…when they got back I could hear them asking the person they were with what happened because they were lost. The move, despite it’s length, goes quickly with a lot of the little vignettes that make up his life and if you miss one you might not understand where and why he’s doing something else later on.
WARNING: MINOR SPOILER ALERT!!! DON’T SAY YOU WEREN’T WARNED!

Ya know…I’ve thought a lot about this movie all afternoon and evening and the explanation I keep coming back to - about why some critics found it cold - was that it’s because they obviously had to cut some things out for time constraints. This movie, like TAOJJ, could have easily been 3 1/2 hours if they didn’t cut some things. Like, for instance, not to give too much away, Benjamin’s relationship with his sister, Queenie’s daughter. It’s not even touched on in the movie. The daughter would have been 5 or 6 when he left home - yet there are no scenes of Benjamin with her then, nor later when he returns home. That struck me later as being not only odd, but kind of cold. There were other things yet, but I don’t want to say too much and spoil it for others who haven’t seen it yet.

Omg, I just got back from seeing Benjamin Button…..it’s wonderful! The whole audience was into it and Brad should get an Oscar for this.
