How big hypocrites her fans can be - if this was Brad and his family - they would calling them names and saying that they are using their children for PR (while reality is that Brad and Angie have very private life and only paparazzi can have pictures of them if they are going somewhere or something like that, for example like entering on private property, they usually are doing few interviews that tabloids reprint all the time), but when this sad and desperate woman is using someone else child for promotion of her bad movie than this is OK? this is entirely usual and in the USA, there have been many reviews and mostly, M&M has been favorably received by critics
Jen’s work is fine. She is great at her job. One of the best comedic ROMCOM actresses in the world.

Studios don’t rely on “blogs” : the PR campaign, just like promotion is a paid for. It is an investment scheme.

From John Grogan’s bestseller comes a film about an untrainable Lab, named after Bob Marley, who teaches Grogan (Owen Wilson) and his wife (Jennifer Aniston) what matters in life. Watching the stars try to out-cutesy the mutt is one for the puke bucket.

“Marley & Me” is a warm and fuzzy family movie, but you do wish that at least once someone would upstage the dog.

I mean during the entire movie I’ll bet if you combined all the time that the dog was actually shown to be doing something that endeared it to the audience, it would total MAYBE two minutes. I kept waiting for something to happen that would make me care about the dog - hell, I thought maybe it would get shot by a burglar, having alerted and saved the family. But no - nothing like that. It’s just an incorrigible dog owned by a couple too weak or lazy to discipline it. Heck, they painted such a bad picture of Marley at one point I was in fear that it was going to hurt one of the babies in the film.

Beyond that, sexual references to the dog “losing its balls,” the beginnings of a sex scene (sure, they’re fully clothed, but my daughter next to me was visibly uncomfortable), an obvious skinny dipping scene (again nothing shown, sorry guys, but a couple skinny dipping in a PG movie?) and a number of “B-level” curse words don’t exactly add up to a movie I’d recommend to my friends with children.

For me the best thing in the movie was Alan Arkin - the man is hysterical and I only wish he had more screen time. Really, this felt like a Lifetime Channel TV movie… some day I’d love to see Jennifer Aniston in something really GOOD.

A writer and his family deal with the world’s worst dog. With Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson. Director: David Frankel (2:05). PG: Sexuality. At area theaters.

What kind of a mutt is “Marley & Me”?

Adapted from John Grogan’s best-selling memoir, it’s not a family film, as there’s too much sexy talk and careerism in it. But there’s also not enough Oh-yesss-you-are! for puppy-loving kids.

It’s not truly a “dog” movie, since Marley is really just trotted out to chew the scenery - a couch here, a garage there. And it’s not a good relationship movie, since John and wife Jen’s lives seem pasted together from the ghosts of date movies past. What are you left with?

Well, Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson and Marley all appear to go to the same groomer, so there’s that.

Marley misbehaves, John (Wilson) and Jen (Aniston) react. It must be said that I haven’t read Grogan’s book, so the saga of American everydog Marley does not automatically provoke a drool of appreciation.

Other uninitiateds may find this J. Crew catalogue of a film alternately manic and too hungry for affection, much like the title pooch. When the Labrador retriever is given as a gift from John to Jen, they’re both reporters job-hunting in Florida.

He gets a column, she gets pregnant and soon they have a house and three kids. John goes through so much “wacky” material, he gives Dave Barry a run for his money.

His biggest treasure-trove is Marley. What a dog he is! Rambunctious, slobbery, untrainable. Cue the raucous canine chase music!

As the family moves from sunny Florida to autumnal Pennsylvania, John gets moody about turning 40, the kids grow up, and Marley gets a case of cinema sickitis as telling as Clint Eastwood’s cough in “Gran Torino.”

There is so little truth, not to mention plot, in “Marley & Me” that it starts to feel like animal cruelty because of how much director David Frankel relies on the dog.

Grogan may have had a wonderful life but it’s hard to appreciate it when Don Roos and Scott Frank’s script depicts him, over the course of 15 years, as an amiable family man but an underachieving, blank goof-off. Wilson, a normally subversive presence, seems to be the one neutered here, despite a comical scene involving the dog.

He just seems to be waiting for Aniston to say her lines sitcom-perkily while smirking cutely (circa 1995 Jennifer Aniston).

If characters talking to dogs, and dog- reaction shots, are a few of your favorite things, add some stars to this review. The actors don’t seem to mind that they’re being upstaged, even though “Marley & Me” doesn’t give the dog much to do, either.

The indecency doesn’t stop there, however, since Marley & Me then concludes with a front-yard funeral in which the three Grogan kids read letters to their deceased pet and then throw them on his blanket-wrapped, grave-encased corpse, a bit of vomitous melodrama to cap off an exploitative tearjerker that runs 125 minutes but, in Marley years, feels like an agonizing eternity.”

Aniston’s publicist is working overtime. “Source” to People, my foot! Whoever is this “source” if not Aniston’s publicist feeding the tabloids stories of her child-friendliness.

As to Mayer, well promotion work for Marley and Me is over so Mayer’s contract is also over. How stupid does she and her team think the public is? They did it with Vince Vaughn for the Break Up and now tried the same old trick for this film. Hmm. They may recycle it again and again as long as the tabloids make money out of these photoops and the public buys it. Oh does the public really care? It is just the tabloids and Hollywood forcing it down the public’s throat, as is all celeb stories these days.

Wow, what’s with the death grip on Courtney? She’s got the poor woman in a headlock and she won’t let go.

Yeah #70 because I’m sure your “sources” are really reliable. They released Marley & Me in about 3,500 theaters. Benjamin Button only about 2,900 so we’ll see how it all plays out. If Marley & Me doesn’t do well this weekend, it will tank next weekend. Once people figure out it’s not the happy, family movie they thought, it will go right into the tank. Now that all the promo hoopla has died out, Jen’s “Boyfriend” is no where to be found. How sad for her that she can’t even get a real date to her own movie premiere.

The dog movie will do well this weekend and tank once the holidays are over. After this weekend CCOBB will blow it away because it will develop legs due to the Oscar buzz and the multiple GG nominations. Ditto Doubt. Valkyrie may do okay for a week or two and after that, bye-bye.

You don’t spend christmas day with your friends, you spend it with your family unless you have no family. Angie has friends but she has family and children who matter most.. Do you spend your christmas day with your friends than with your children and family idiot? There is something wrong with this woman ( a 40yr old woman) who on such an important family get together rather tags along a married couple who may want to spend their time with family only but don’t know how to convey that to her without upsetting her. What is good about a friend who is not selfish is knowing when to leave a family alone and not impose yourself on them. She is only seen with her dad or boyfriend when there is camera rolling. Doesn’t she feel awkward tagging along this family all the time.
Brad is having the last laugh. Can you imagine what their christmas day would look like. Brother’s and sister’s family with their respective children gathering together with his own. What a sight !! I must confess that while I can more or less tolerate them in real life, provided that there are properly chained, leashed or tethered so that they are unable to leap up and tear out my throat at a moment’s notice, I am not that much of a fan of films that are centered on adorable dogs doing adorable things while all the humans look on adorably. This isn’t necessarily a hard-and-fast rule by any means–in the past, I have looked favorably upon such films as “My Dog Skip” and “White Dog”–but I could never get into the adventures of Benji even as a child, I found watching the adventures of Winn-Dixie to be as exciting as actually spending time in a Winn-Dixie and while I am certain that I will be professionally obligated to do so at some point in the next couple of years, I would just as soon stick my face into a box fan than contemplate the possibility of a “Beverly Hills Chihuahua II.” (And just before any of you armchair shrinks can begin to get all worked up, I did have a dog when I was a child, I loved her very much and outside of her passing, there were no traumas to speak of involving her.) I must also confess that I am not much of a fan of Jennifer Aniston. She may be a lovely, enchanting and wonderful person in real life but on the screen, she has always struck me as an utter bore–to me, she has all the charm, personality and sex appeal of the third-most-attractive cashier at Wal-Mart on any given Thursday–and the films that she has elected to appear in, excepting “Office Space” (which is hardly a “Jennifer Aniston movie” by any means) and the immortal “Leprechaun” (ditto, though the idea of a murderous leprechaun turning up during “The Break-Up” has its appeal) have been just as dull. Therefore, I suppose it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I didn’t particularly like “Marley & Me,” an adaptation of the best-selling book by John Grogan that features both an adorable dog and Jennifer Aniston sharing the screen. What was surprising, though, is that the film itself is bad enough in so many other ways that the dog and Aniston turn out to be the least of its problems…..

Christmas Day moviegoers have opted for a lovable lab and the Oscar bona fides of David Fincher’s epic fantasy yarn The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Paramount) have been bolstered by a strong opening day. Meanwhile, Adam Sandler’s storytelling and a Hitler-chasing, eye patch-wearing Tom Cruise both connected with moviegoers while the dark graphic comic noir of Frank Miller is a dud.
The biggest box office gift under the Christmas tree belongs to Fox. Marley & Me, based on the tearjerker of a novel by John Grogan, has posted the all-time best Christmas Day opening with a stellar $13.9M, but the good news for Hollywood doesn’t stop there. Paramount’s David Fincher epic Benjamin Button appears to have posted the all-time #2 Christmas Day opening with $11.1M while Adam Sandler’s Bedtime Stories has notched the 5th-best with $10.75M. Even Tom Cruise’s Valkerie (MGM/UA), once thought to be a total disaster, has managed the all-time #11 opening for the movie-friendly holiday with an estimated $7.35M.

My Early 4-Day Estimate for Marley & Me is $53.79M, but I will be fascinated to see how word-of-mouth affects its holiday run. I am, personally, a great lover of dogs and am a big fan of Grogan’s novel. (I would argue that my dogs - a 10-year-old rat terrier named Hollis and a 2-year-old beagle Sophie - are worthy of their own novel and movie.) The book, however, reduced me to a blubbering puddle, and, although I haven’t seen the movie yet, I’ve been told that the ending is very tough-to-take. One of my regular studio contacts told me that they think Marley & Me should come with a warning label for parents. Something like, “This movie may induce uncontrollable sobbing among children and dog lovers of all ages.”
Are people in the mood for “a good cry?” Sometimes it’s just what people are looking for. Or, in these challenging economic times, are people seeking purely happy trips to the multiplex? I’m guessing that the word-of-mouth will be a little mixed along these emotional lines, and that could slightly dampen the movie’s performance. Still, I think it is very safe to project something in the $113M range for Marley & Me by the end of the 4-day New Year’s weekend. In a rough year, it will be only Fox’s second $100M grossing movie for 2008 joining Horton Hears a Who.
There is great news for Paramount and David Fincher on this Christmas Day. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a big hit. Based on an F. Scott Fitzgerald short story, this spiritual tale starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett will build on its $11.1M opening day at 2,988 locations. The screen count may be as high as 3,500 with Paramount securing multiple screens at many key locations for the 2 hour 48 minute epic. The film will likely manage about $45.35M in domestic ticket sales over the 4-day Christmas weekend.
Benjamin Button will do very steady business over the next 11 days, and the spectacularly-reviewed film will likely have $100M-$105M in the bank by the end of next weekend. It will continue to hold well through awards season with major nominations at the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards. I strongly believe that this movie is headed for something in the $170M domestic range.
Only 2 of the last 11 Best Picture winners have failed to break through the $100M barrier, including last year’s Coen Brothers thriller No Country For Old Men.

Academy Awards voters, whether they admit it or not, love big blockbusters, and after last year’s terrible Oscar broadcast ratings, there will be a strong yet silent, push to recognize films that movie-goers all over the country have seen. Benjamin Button is now likely to fit the bill nicely. Wouldn’t an Oscar night showdown between The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and mega-hit The Dark Knight make for a spectacular Academy Awards storyline (although, there’s always a chance that Danny Boyle’s gutty, little indie Slumdog

This to me represents probably Jen and Brads marriage very well. He does the hard work and the quality work to make something successful, and she slides by with the cute stuff.

She is worth over $100 mil dollars she mostly earned from playing Rachel Green on Friends. She has basically done nothing but contuue to play that one character over and over.

Brad has stretched out to produce. He challenged his acting over and over with different characters. He never plays it safe for the money, and he IS the main character instead of the support (unlike in his marriage. remember how Jen forgot to thank him when she won award? when he was probaby her biggest support system)

I know he will be rememberd for this role long after (I really believe he will win the Oscar this season even if he does not care if he does or not) and no matter if M&M makes more money, Brad is the one who earned and won the ultimate prize. His freedom from the mediocre, and industry respect.

People are going to M&M for the dog. Anyone could have played OH! guess what? Jennifer (yeah, the character Jennifer plays is named Jennifer). People seeing TCCBB are their for Brads wonderful marvelous and amazing acting in a damn great tale.

Again Jennifer gets something for doing little, but even if she won the battle, Brad will win the war.

Don’t you Chinnefer Maniston fans even try to compare Angelina Jolie to that D-list show off!

Lol, marley and me is a hit, but no one mentions Jennifer’s name in any of the write up. Steve Mason did not mention her name at all and also Nike Finke, who only said its Owen Wilson’s movie. Also keep in mind that M&M opened in 500 more theatres than Buttons, therefore if you look at the wider release of the movie it should have done more. So the numbers are not that great for the amount of theatre releases the movie had. Buttons did really well for it’s opening in less than 3000 theatres, if it had opened in more than 3500 theaters it would have been number one. Just stating the facts.

Again we will see Sunday who comes out on top.

Mayer is Christmas-ing on the other coast, 3,000 miles away from Aniston, so Aniston had to attach herself like a barnacle to the Cox/Arquettes for yet another holiday. Why didn’t she spend Christmas with her family, or isn’t she speaking to any of them any more?

Reading the book is better than the movie! Owen was miscasted and Jen looked too botox to display any acting skills. Disappointed that Jen and Owen didn’t age or get any wisdom with Marley over the years. The movie is dog **** awful!!

I have no problem if the dog movie made more money than TCCBB. It’s still about the dog that people wants to see. I’ve seen a lot of dog movies with my son and grand kids, so I have no problem with that. But to credit Aniston for making it a box office is laughable.

Hi sweet one. Well I have to say I am very happy I went to see Marley and Me. It was such a good movie. Full movie theatre and everyone was weaping…….everyone! Not just at the end, throughout, especially several scenes that involved Jen. She really moved me. Both her and Owen were superb. Marley of course was wonderful. Alan Arkin was really quite good, I haven’t seen him for so long, he hasn’t lost his touch and Kathleen Turner I barely recognized but she certainly hit the spot of full belly laughter with Marley.

loL, Jennifer has never had a movie of her own becoming a hit, all her hit movies, she is only a support, Bruce Almighty, TBU, Along Came POlly and now Marley & Me, she is not the first lead, she is second lead and third lead in the case of the dog movie. That is a fact! Aniston’s movies are all feel good, rom-com, light movies, like Rumor has it, Friends with Money, etc, which should do well in the box office, and yet as we know, she has only one hit out of 4 movies she does.

Angelina’s own movies are hits such as, Tomb raider Movies, MaMs, she is not support there her role is same as Brad. WAnted, Angelina was marketed as the lead, even though she has little time in the movie. Even /Changeling did ok despite the depressing theme of the movie.

Marley and Me is the best movie I have ever seen Jennifer in and I’ve enjoyed her in many. Good story. Excellent cast. Enough said.

Wow - the hatred in the Aniston threads on this site is awful. I was among the fans that would call themselves “Team Aniston”, but to me, it’s all over now. Brad and Angie have finally admitted that they fell in love - right or wrong - while filming M&M Smith. Their denial of the obvious incensed many people, myself included. I think we all - or I did anyway - kept looking for a crack in the armor of Pitt and Jolie to see when the truth would leak out. They kept it up for a long time, but now it’s over. Brad and Jen were not either one’s soulmate. Brad through in the towel when he met who appears to be his perfect mate - Jolie - and told Jen about his attraction to Jolie. Jen called it quits.

I’m glad Brad and Angie have finally been honest with themselves and with the public. We can all move on from this story now. It’s as old as the hills - a marriage falls apart because they realize they are not soulmates and then one of the spouses is attracted to someone else. Something similar happens to about half of all American marriages. As a die-hard Jen fan, I can honestly say that Brad is much better matched to Angie than Jen. Jen has yet to find her soulmate. It may be Mayer. It may not. But she’ll find him eventually. In the meantime she’s doing a stunning job of showing that you don’t have to be part of a couple to be happy and fulfilled in life. Her roles as actor and, even more impressively, as producer, are impressive. Brad did an amazing job acting in Benjamin Button. And, like I said, I’m not a fan of his. But they are both achieving wonderful things in life apart from one another.

It’s time for the public to move on.

In 2002, Brad Grey, now the head of Paramount, joined as a partner, and the company moved into beautiful new offices in Beverly Hills, teamed up with Warner Bros., and began producing blockbusters like The Departed. But once Aniston and Pitt separated, the partnership had to be dissolved. Hahn and Aniston took some time before deciding to start over again on their own, and now, says Aniston, “we just love it. Finding the book, the article, the right writer. We love the process.”

When I ask Hahn what it’s like to work with Aniston the producer, she says, “One of the things that people don’t realize about Jen is that she is a brilliant businesswoman. She’s a working girl! She is in her office every morning, figuring out her day and making it happen.”

Aniston is eager not only to produce but to direct. “I made a short film, Room 10, a couple of years ago and loved it so much,” she says. Hahn is convinced that Aniston will thrive at it. “In our group of girlfriends, we always joke that she can cut hair better than anyone; she can mix a drink better than any bartender. I think producing and directing for her is going to be the same way. Wherever she points that wand, flowers grow.”

Appropriately enough, all the films Echo has in development right now are about—and there is no better word—ballsy women. Counter Clockwise is a biopic about Ellen Langer, Ph.D., the first woman tenured in the psychology department at Harvard, an iconoclast born in the Bronx who has done controversial work on the mind-body connection, a subject Aniston has been preoccupied with for years. The Goree Girls is a true story about a group of women in a Texas prison in the 1940s who formed a country-western band, became a worldwide sensation through a prison radio show, were eventually pardoned by the governor, and then disappeared into obscurity. (When I ask Aniston if she can sing, she says jauntily, “I can carry a tune.”)

But it is a third project, Pumas, that is the furthest along—and the most telling about Aniston’s state of mind these days. It is a film about older women dating younger men that Hahn describes as a “high-octane comedy about sexual politics and double standards.” Aniston’s description is both funnier and cruder: “It’s sort of a female Wedding Crashers. It’s about these girls who aspire to become cougars. They just paaarty! Young party girls who just find hot young guys to play with and then dump them. Why can’t women do it?” At a time when Hollywood is obsessed with the Judd Apatow version of the infantile, directionless 40-year-old man, it is a tantalizing notion. Aniston, after all, has trained with the Big Boys—as David Frankel says, “What she does so brilliantly is play great tennis with the big stars of our day: Ben Stiller, Jim Carrey, Vince Vaughn.” Why couldn’t she create an alternative by having fun with female stereotypes—not to mention provide another option than the Carrie Bradshaw model she so detests?

There is no doubt that Aniston is noticeably more confident.

Aniston did not work on anything at Plan B. Most of the work at Plan B was done by Brad and Jen was lucky enough to be married to Brad and therefore included as partner.

Notice, her recent production “management” in which she is also a producer has NOT had any distributor.

Aniston has been getting plenty of attention by regurgitating what life in ‘The Triangle’ is like. She’s made the cover of most major publications and has been a guest on every A-list talk show.
Apart from orchestrating this feud in order to promote Marley and Me, rumors are now swirling that Aniston may have even gotten involved with John Mayer again in order to avoid being single as Brad Pitt also promotes his movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which is being released around Christmas just like her film.
Insiders say Aniston didn’t want to be alone since Pitt and Jolie certainly are together and she didn’t want the obvious unflattering statements that she doesn’t have a man.
Despite settling for Mayer, Aniston is still keeping the pop singer on a short leash. Mayer is expected to follow Aniston’s rules closely, and there’s already plenty of evidence that he’s doing no such thing.
Jen is not happy about Mayer and his apparent lack of devotion.
“Jen has told him if she finds out he’s flirting with any other girls, they’re through,” an insider told In Touch. “She’d also like it if he acted more mature and not go clubbing when she’s not with him.”
Right now Aniston has decided that a half-devoted John Mayer is better than not having a man at all. And when she sees the devotion that Brad Pitt is showing to Angelina Jolie, she seethes in anger and tells the whole world.
Life in ‘The Triangle’ must be very stressful, after all.

Is John Mayer Jennifer Aniston’s backup man plan?
Why did Jennifer Aniston really get back together with John Mayer?
According to the New York Post, during their split, Aniston’s camp was shopping for a potential date because poor Jen “did not want to be single when her movie opened.”

Especially since her film premiere coincided with the PR push and premiere of Brad Pitt’s new movie, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” at which he had Angelina Jolie by his side.

“A friend of her agent was calling around asking for young men whom they could set her up with,” a source told the N.Y. Post.
But the attempt to find a replacement for Mayer failed and — as if by magic — Mayer and Aniston got back together.
At the L.A. premiere of “Marley & Me” the other night, Mayer did not pose for photos with Jennifer.
And who can blame her? Check out his pegged pants and heinous blouse. Jen would have never let Brad leave the house wearing a mismatched black shirt, pants and a military-style jacket.
But John dutifully told reporters, “I’m here to support my girl.”
He refused to touch the GQ magazine cover for reporters, but he did say that he didn’t have a problem with her nudity.
“I mean, if I have a problem with that cover, I should just get the hell out of here,” he told Us Weekly.

I think it is going to be a great year in 2009 for both Owen and Jen. I thought the movie might not do the book justice because of the way most movies have to market things to the public, but it really did stay true. It was a real treat.

PopEater’s Person of the Year Goes To … Jen Aniston

If there’s one reason that Jennifer Aniston should be named PopEater’s Person of the Year, it’s because she looks great naked and doesn’t mind showing it off at the age of 39. But there’s so much more to everybody’s favorite ‘Friend.’

Approaching 40, Aniston sure doesn’t look it, and hasn’t slowed down one bit. Her next film, ‘Marley and Me’ opens on Christmas, and she has three more movies ready to hit theaters next year.

The actress reminded us why ‘Friends’ was such a hit when she guest-starred on ‘30 Rock,’ and played a woman obsessed with Alec Baldwin’s network executive.

Oh yeah. She’s dating a guy 9 years her junior and isn’t afraid to admit she exerts her influence over him when needed. (Referring to his impromptu press-conference after their first breakup, Aniston told Vogue, “Trust me, you’ll never see that happen again from that man.”
Regarding her relationship with John Mayer, Jen is also faced with constant speculation about whether she’s pregnant or is ready to wed the guitarist.

In the past year in the tabloids, she’s had so many babies that — if it were true — her brood would rival the Jolie-Pitt clan’s.

On the tabloid reports, Aniston told EW, “Oh my God, it’s hysterical. You can’t do anything without it going to some extreme. It’s almost going to take away the fun from actually being able to say one day, ‘I’m pregnant!’ Everyone will be like, ‘Yeah, right.’ It’s the boy who cried wolf. Stop stealing my thunder, motherf—ers!”

Then there’s the constant nagging of her past love-life that follows Aniston around like the dog from ‘Marley.’

Three years after Brad Pitt left her for Angelina Jolie, the ‘Break Up’ star is still marked as the scorned and bitter woman, no matter what she says.

While Pitt and Jolie seem to be able to talk or allude to Jen freely, the second Ms. Aniston opens her mouth, the tabloids are ready to pounce and manipulate whatever she says to sell magazines.
When a Vogue reporter asked her about recent comments Angelina made about falling in love with Brad on the set of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ while he was still married to Jen, Aniston replied “That was really uncool.”

The next thing she knew, her quote was taken out of context, and splashed across the cover of Vogue. “What Angelina Did Was Really Uncool,” read the headline.

But it doesn’t seem to bother Ms. Aniston.
“You have to laugh at it all at the end of the day. I was just surprised that Vogue would go so tabloid. I was bummed. But you almost expect it. Big Deal. Done. Next,” she said.

That’s why Jen is PopEater’s Person of the Year.
