John Mayer: New Year’s With Jennifer Aniston!
John Mayer arrives at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Friday (December 26) with his two brothers — Carl (older, inset) and Ben (younger, not pictured).
The 31-year-old musician spent Christmas on the East Coast while girlfriend Jennifer Aniston spent Christmas Eve with Friends BFF Courteney Cox in L.A. Looks like Mayer and Aniston will be ringing in the new year together on the West Coast!
Aniston’s Christmas Day release of Marley & Me raked in $14.75 million in ticket sales, breaking the previous record of $10.2 million set by 2001’s Ali.

John Mayer looks tired. I’m glad that people seem to be enjoying the movie Marley & Me.
I think he likes New York, doesn’t seem happy going back to LA or to JA. This certainly isn’t going to last or he’s had a bad day, his brothers? Gosh, she must be boring for him to bring his brothers along.

Jen is way too pretty for this guy.
Benjamin Button set a record also at #2 and it wasn’t even shown at the number of theaters Marley and Me debuted at. Plus, Marley and Me is a dog movie I’m sure all the dog lovers were there, plus I heard alot were disappointed in taking their children to Marley and Me becaused it dwelled on miscarriage and death. So the clips were not what they seemed. I heard BB was a great movie kind of like “Forrest Gump” and we loved that movie. I hope BB does well, Brad Pitt deserves it for the fine performance and he didn’t even need a dog to bring in an audience.
I want too Jen’s movie, but I’m a Brad Pitt fan so I’m gonna see his movie instead. I’m glad that her movie is doing well though. I think Brad made a mistake starting his family with Angie (after all I remember how I thought she was a psycho and no amount of charity work is gonna vindicate her & her bro when they were on national tv). I do hope that they are all happy esp Jen and John.

If Marley and Me was successful at opening it was because of the dog. Dogs always make a movie and actors that can’t carry a movie (like Jennifer Anniston and now Owen Wilson) always need a prop in order to generate ticket sales. Unlike a real actor like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie whose presence and acting alone can carry a movie and ticket sales. Try to make a movie with just Jennifer Anniston in a drama and it will be a dud. Forget John Mayer, the only thing he can carry is a note and barely. Owen Wilson has suffered at the box office too recently I guess due to his botched suicide.

Actually, Marley & Me (the movie) will do well because people love the book. It has been set up to do well; successful book, opening at Christmas when people are looking for family entertainment and a story about a dog. It should do well. Jennifer Aniston is neither horrible nor awesome as an actress; that role could have been successfully played by several actresses quite successfully, so to call this “her” movie is not true. She has many fans, but I daresay that the majority of fans she has are from people jumping on her personal bandwagon (because of something in their own lives) and not from her talent. That’s sad.
As for Angelina Jolie (and I hesitate to respond to this because it’s not an AJ thread), Jessica, are you twelve? You’ve obviously not lived much, or you’re that one perfect person on this earth who’s never ever ever made a mistake, rebelled or put a wrong foot forward. Even people who commit horrendous acts, are allowed to pay their price and move on, and have moved on to be better people, giving to this world and their families. You will grow up someday and learn this. Or, Gosh forbid, be in a position of needing someone to overlook a little temporary craziness on your part.
I hope, when that day comes, people are less judgemental of you than you are of your fellow human beings.

LOL…who didn’t think the cute pup flick would do well? Congrats to her on the top spot for Christmas day, but I don’t want to make this more than it is.The reality is in the large scope of things, this movie isn’t going to do anymore for Jen’s career than TBU did. The book by John Grogan that was the inspiration for this film has a HUGE following…that certainly translates to some of the success. To say it’s based on the back of how ‘popular’ Jen is…well that’s subjective, at best and I’m a fan. If that was the case the other films she’s recently completed over the past couple of years wouldn’t have had such a hard time finding a distributor. While it’s nice her film has gotten off to a great start to think this is somehow a grand show of something is silly. At the end of the day after the weekend’s over, that’s pretty much it. Nothing more will really be said about this film, specifically as we head into Awards season. Great holiday fun though.
On topic: John looks a little beat…perhaps he is bringing his brother’s along for a Mexico get away with Jen and other friends. That would be fun…though I suppose I wonder why they didn’t also spend Christmas together? Still not convinced he’s the best pick for her, but if she’s happy that’s what’s important.

I made the huge mistake of watching the Brad Pitt Movie over Jennifer Anniston movie on Christmas Day. If you havent seen Benjamin Buttons I am warning you DO NOT GO!!! It is so long and really just a clueless movie. It doesnt come together at all. It looked interesting on the previews but that just suckered me and my friends in. I saw Marley and Me today and even though it had a dog in it, it was about so much more than the actual dog. A beautiful story.
I am going to Adam Sandlers flick tomorrow… I dont plan on suffereing through Tom Cruise Movie

Also, to Wilma, Jen’s fee will NEVER go hire than Angelina’s. Angelina’s reputation–depending on the person, it’s good or bad–precede her. Angelina has won many major awards; Jen has an Emmy. And I’ll continue with this to make my point.
Marley and Me made $14,600,000 showing in 3480 theatres which comes out to about $4195 per theature (average)
BB made $11,700,000 showing in 2988 theatres, which is about $3915 per theatre (again average).
If you multiply the difference, 492 theatres by that $3915, you’d presume if both movies played at equal number of theatres, BB would have averaged about $13,626,506, merely $1m less than Marley & Me.
Further, Marley and Me is a PG film, while BB is a PG13, which is going to further increase the Christmas viewing numbers as more entire families will go as opposed to just adults or over 13’s.
I would say that by looking at the facts, we could say that at the very least, both films are coming out at about even in popularity.
Now, if you look at the ratings of the films based just on the film viewed, not someone comparing the two, you have:
Marley & me; 60% gave it an A, 11.3% gave it a B, 6.3% gave it a C, 2.5% gave it a D and 20% gave it an F.
BB; 75% gave it an A; 6.8 % gave it a B, 2.3% gave it a C, 3% gave it a D and 12.1% gave it an F.
So, if you want to be childish and compare apples to oranges for those two, they do appear to be pretty even.
As for John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston; as two human beings, they deserve to be happy and if they make each other happy, then I wish them well and hope they get on with their life.
That has absolutely nothing to do with anyone else, including their ex’es.
Congrats Marley & Me because these are the showing for both movies this upcoming months

Not necessarily…besides Benjamin Button is not based on a book as much as a loose adaption of a short story/fable. The movie in many ways was nothing like the fable from what I’ve read. Those so wrapped up in the tabloid aspect of this ‘competition’ truly underestimate the popularity of this book…I mean seriously. If half the folks who own it go and see it this film that means a lot of cash for Fox. That and the marketing campaign that pushed the puppy/dogs to the fore front and it of course led to what is happening.
Again, while it’s nice she and Owen were successful some people are making this more than it should be. That’s silly in that it isn’t as if it completely destroyed the competition. TCOBB broke the previously held record ‘Ali’ set as well…it just of course was geared to adults vs. families/kids.
As a fan, I really think it’s comparing apples and oranges.
I’ve seen enough of this “MAD-MAX”!!

Marley and Me did good because of the DOGS. Remember “Bevely Chihuahuas” all dogs and no actors but it still become a box office success. 1) Why did it take her two years to land a part in a movie?
2) Why can’t Traveling find a distributor?
3) Why is Management being released overseas and not in the US? (Is it because it bombed at the Toronto film festival?)

and finally…

At my local theatre, Marley and Me was playing at 7 different times, while Curious Case of Benjamin Button had only 3 showings. I saw Benjamin Button and it was sold out.
They have so many options to see the Marley and Me movie because when families are disappointed in not being able to see the movie of their choice (Doubt, Benjamin Button) being sold out, that many of the people will say, okay give me tickets for whatever you got. Then Marley and Me gets more ticket sales.
I guess Christmas wasn’t included in the Aniston/Mayer boyfriend contract.
Speaking of the movies, I would definitely be more proud that my movie and acting is being recognized for awards than whether it took highest sales on Christmas day. And like Brad said, he would rather get home to his kids…the movie sales are not his priority.

They have read the Marley & Me book or know someone who has and want to see the movie. The movie is going to do very well just on that basis alone. That doesn’t make it a good movie. OMG this is so true. I’m a gossip junky but most of my galpals and sisters just watch the movie with their families or whatever and don’t even know about all the blog gossip crap floating around. Yeah they read tabs, but they take those with a grain of salt. Check out imdb.com, honey. They have all the info on what’s being released when. Management has no release dates in the US, Traveling has no release dates anywhere, and Jen has no movies planned or in process.

Here we go again., comparing movies that are nothing alike and are geared to a different type of audience. This is not a competition people. Yes, the dog is the real star of the movie, but Aniston is playing to HER audience. She’s made a career of playing to a certain audience. Until she made The Break Up with Vince Vaughn, she had never been the lead in a movie that cost over 50 million dollars to make She doesn’t take chances, she sticks to what she knows. She’s not making expensive movies, so it’s easier for them to be termed successful. Having said that, her movies can never be called classics, most are not thought provoking. It would be nice for a change if she did something out of her comfort zone.
If Aniston thought of besting Pittt as much as her fans do, she’d be neurotic. For some fans to feel this overwhelming elation as if Aniston’s movie success is somehow a reflection of them is silly. At the end of the day they all get paid per movie no matter what the box office numbers are. She’ll continue making safe movies and Pitt will continue to be versatile in his movie choices. To each their own.
BTW I really love when people say then saw TCCOBB when they really haven’t seen it. They just want to diss the movie. That is so childish.

and alll three angelina movies made the list.
two of them are in the top twenty percent.

First off, Imdb is often times late with info and incorrect. Second of all, I don’t read the tabloids. I read Variety and The Hollywood Reporter which are trade publications. It was Variety that ran the aricle on Jen and Gerard Butler doing Bounty Hunter with Sony Pics with a May start date. And yes, after working on 4 films in a row, I grant you Rumor Has It and Derailed were not the biggest hits however, Friends with Money was a small independent film that made it’s budget back and The Break Up grossed $119 Million domestic and $230 Million worldwide.
So in the 2 years she took off, she did a one night Broadway show for a benefit, she guest starred on Courtney Cox’s show Dirt, and worked with SmartWater as spokesperson. She also won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Female Movie Star for The Break Up.
And honey, a question for you……how many financially successful films has Nicole Kidman had? You talk about turkeys……the list is endless.

I walked out after 2 hours of Brad Pitt’s movie, Benjiman, was awful and boring and he’s not even a good actor but a boyfriend of a chick who french kissed her blood brother on TV and bought children not living in the USA. That’s his best triumph is an act too, when you consider all that they do to insure forever International Public Relations raising kids with nannies for a great business triumph their lifetime. It’s simple, Marley and Me held onto our hearts and Owen and Jennifer were marvelous and made for their parts. Brad is a live wire whose failing looks have been revitalized after his recent face lift and his ego is bigger than his good sense. Jennifer Aniston and Owen are magical and they will always beat him in the box office no matter he thinks they should not. Hey, face it, Mr. & Mrs. Smith wasn’t that good at all and a big disappointment. Just remember, Jennifer is a great draw without exception. It’s Jen that remains the best draw and she proved it here.

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler are in negotiations to topline an untitled bounty hunter project at Columbia.
“Hitch” helmer Andy Tennant is attached to direct the comedy, which centers on a bounty hunter (Butler) hired to retrieve his ex-wife (Aniston), who has skipped bail.
Sarah Thorp, whose most recent bigscreen credit is the Ashley Judd starrer “Twisted,” penned the script.

And when she says Bounty Hunter is not definite yet that is because they are in negotiations. And even if it is a done deal, she can’t say anything until Sony Pictures says it’s ok to talk about.

The mutt movie is hardly a flop, but unfortunately, it is no more likely to revive Aniston’s fading career than TBU did. She has three more movies in the can, none currently in production and none planned. The ones in the can are:
1) He’s Just Not That Into You — postponed twice due to bad buzz and fear of competition from Sex And The City (June) and Changeling (October). Now set to open in February but the buzz on the film is it’s a stinker.
2) Management — bombed at the Toronto film festival and took months to find a distributor. Finally found one; supposed to go into limited release sometime this spring and will probably go to DVD after that.
3) Traveling — still no release date, still doesn’t have a distributor. No word of when it will be released.
According to imdb.com, Aniston has no films currently in process and none are currently planned.

Why in the world are you bringing Nicole Kidman into this? But I’ll say this, now that you mentioned her: Kidman is an A-list actress with ten times more talent than Aniston has. She will continue to get roles after Aniston is long gone from Hollywood because Kidman can play a variety of parts, while the only thing Aniston can play is Rachel Greene. Every part she has played in a movie is a variation on Rachel Greene, and she’s getting too old for that any more. Unless they make a movie where she plays Rachel Greene’s mother.

If Mayer cared at all about Aniston, he would have done one of two things: 1) he would have spent Christmas in California with Aniston, or 2) he would have invited Aniston to spend Christmas with his family in New York. contracts have to be signed first and Variety only gets the sing on sheets not the actual contracted person who will do the film.
What it mean is if Jen is slotted to do the film and her contract will call for 8 mil… and katherine Heigl expresses interest in the film and her fee is lower.. guess who gets the project.?
We saw Marley and Me yesterday, thinking it would truly be a good, clean, Christmas time movie, a true PG movie. It should have been labeled R for the crude, disgusting lines about balls, the humping and other scenes, not appropriate in a movie that draws in small children. Half the row we wer sitting in, a family with young children left early. So did other families in the theater.
The story line was great, but it was ruined with gutter crap.

I thought Marley and Me was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I loved the book and I was really looking forward to seeing the movie. I was so disappointed. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Anniston have no emotional depth. Owen Wilson doesn’t change his character from one movie to another; he seems to just learn new lines. The trailer for the movie was all about the dog. The movie is just about the life of some whiny, complainy people with a dog. It was really boring. Don’t go see the movie!

She is still very frustated because Brad changed her for Angie. She has nothing to do about it because Brad really loves Angie, Angie is beautiful and sexy while Aniston is a product of many plastic surgeries.
Aniston needs therapy to try to forget Brad and Angie and begin a new life, knowing that the only way to be happy is being happy first with herself and not search for happiness in someone else.

I happen to think there both beautiful woman in different ways ..But everyone has there own opinion and that don’t bother me..
Can’t we stop all the name calling. I loved what Brad said , it was beautiful.. It seems to me Jen & John are also happy, and so are Angie & Brad.. I don’t believe nor Jen and Andie had gotten plastic surgery I know Jen had a lump in her nose and was done to breath. But we’ll never no really will we, I think everyone in Hollywood and middle class get something done, I would, but pretty happy I come from great genes.
Another thing I do feel the way Jen feels with love whether you like John or not to Jen hes right know the one, I would never get close with someone just for the he ll of it ..
Lets all get along. Brad and Angie love each other with there 6 beautiful children.. Jen and John seem so much in love also. Can’t we all move on and be nice.. I also think John is really Hot looking as I do brad.. I guess I pretty much like everyone.

How are you sweetie.. Yes Jen does very much seems to enjoy life. I also believe shes really in love with John, she seems so happy around John.. Jen is over Brad in some ways I can relate to some of her statements.

How cool that this opening day tops all of Brad’s and Angies movies. Lets see Angie played a dog didnt she in one of her summer movies or at least some animal. So Wanted, Universal’s Angelina Jolie/James McAvoy starrer, debuted to $19.1M Friday and $17.5M Saturday from 3,175 venues for a $51.1M weekend. It marks a new franchise for the studio which expected only $35+M from this stylish summer actioner fueled by the Matrix-like high octane provided by hot Russian director Timur Bekmambetov. It turned out to be the best June opening ever for an R-rated movie, beating Knocked Up’s $30.6M, and the 6th highest R-rated opening of all time (behind The Matrix Reloaded, The Passion Of The Christ, 300, Hannibal, and Sex And The City) as well as the 3rd biggest R-rated action film (behind The Matrix Reloaded’s $91.7M, and 300’s $70.9M). By the way, Jolie has not has a hit in quite some time. Jolie is odd and is becoming highly unattractive - Jen is wholesome, an all American beauty. Jolie has one too many tattoes, too much botox in lips and is way too skinny. I ama thrilled Jen’s movie beat Brad’s - Jen deserves the revenge for handling her life with dignity after her husband cheated on her.
Also, you talk about John Mayer not being able to carry a tune - hello, he has won grammy’s etc. - he is a very talented singer, song writer.
Congrats to Jen and her hit movie.
I lived my whole life in new orleans. I am extremely proud of the b b. movie. it portrays everthing about n.o. appropriately to see things in such prospective. brad is a hero to our city, and we love him for his unselfish devotion. this is a classic movie that will be treasured and seen by many generations for years to come!

Do you live under a rock or something?? Angelina has no hit?? Why do you think she had the title of a billion dollar movie actress? It’s because she had 3 hits this 2008. If you don’t know what it is GOOGLE is your friend. Jen is wholesome?? He looks tired because he just flew in from East coast ; I hope John spent New Years Eve with Jen- they are lovely couple. We watched “Marley and me” and all of us just loved the beatiful storyline in this movie, including our 10-years old son-contrary to previous remarks about “people being disappointed to take their kids to this movie because its dwelling on miscarriage and death”- it is NOT!!! Its a wonderful story about growing family!
the reviews are out on Marley and Me
and the majority were very dissapointed
Marley and Me fans did not like it b/c it did not focus on the marley and Me characters.
People also complained that the studios lied into making it seem this is a movie for families. it clearly is not for the whole family.
anyway time will tell.
tickets sales are not as great as the first day.. its slipping to the bottom of the pile according to the percentages.
the other movies that were released at the same time are now picking up steam in tickets sales and marley and me is slipping.
The ticket sales for “the Spirit” jumped up 153%
Revolutionary road ticket sales went up 116%
CCOBB went up 83 %
Valkerie went up 63%
while marley and me only went up 44 %
