Salma Hayek Loves Cigarette Smoking
Salma Hayek continues her bad habit and puffs away at her cancer stick while out and about with her her daughter Valentina, 15 months, in Los Angeles on Friday (December 27).
The 42-year-old actress whipped out her cigarette after shopping up a storm at the Neiman Marcus department store. Salma’s mother, Diana Jiminez, looked after little Valentina during the actress’s smoke break.

I used to smoke, but I quit two years ago because my mother told me it ages you. She used to smoke, but she said the most embarrassing thing was when my grandmother, her mother-in-law, was holding me one day when I was three and smelled my hair and said my clothes, my hair and my skin smelled bad. They smelled like smoke. That made my mother quit. So I imagine Salma’s mother is smelling nasty cigarette smoke on Valentina. All the expesive clothes and she still stinks. Salma is in her 40’s now. She should quit. Also, she is probably not nursing anymore, because if she was nursing, Valentina would have been getting nicotine with her milk. That is really true.

Salma is 42 and has probably been smoking since she was much younger. She seems to have lucked out genetically and doesn’t have the lines/wrinkles like other celeb smokers (see Sarah Jessica Parker) her age, but it’s such an ugly habit. I hope she quits and doesn’t pass this habit on to her daughter.

I am so tired of Hollywood women talking about healthy living and exercise.. Most of the actresses smoke to keep the pounds off. That is the main reason they do so. It stops the hunger pains. I don’t understand her smoking around the baby. The smoke smell gets in the clothes. Just think what that baby breaths in when Selma picks her up and hugs her. That smell lasts for ever. It gets everywhere.You can imagine that the baby smells like smoke too. I have to say that is a cute and chunky baby. Look at those legs.. I want to pinch those legs as cheeks. Shame her Mom does not know the effects of smoking on young children. It is not good.
I agree w/ Kate. Although smoking is nasty, you can’t deny the fact that Salma looks phenomenal for her age and has some pretty amazing genes. I’m 12 years younger than her and my skin doesn’t even look that good!

Give me a break! Yes, I’m sure like everyone else in Hollywood Salma has had work done but you can’t deny the fact that she looks amazing for 42. Botox and Restalyne may assist with the aging process but good genes are good genes and Salma certainly has them. Besides, take someone like Teri Hatcher. She is only 2 years older than Salma and her face looks pulled and distorted - Salma has basically looked the same for years. I don’t think you can contribute it all to Botox.

Well, it’s one thing to kill your own lungs and race to a painful death but it’s quite another to expose a child to your second hand smoke. She should realize her responsibilities as a mother and get her priorities straight. Smoking with your child around is not good parenting at all.
Would it have been more socially acceptable if she had an alcoholic drink in her hand at dinner? People are way to uptight about smoking. It’s her lungs, her choice. I KNOW MANY people who have died lung cancer who have never smoked a cigarette in their lives.
If she was smoking in an enclosed area with her child, I could see the issue. Since she is smoking in the open air outside………..
Salma is not that old that she should look haggard. She also lives a life of ease. Dark haired women with her complexion stay young looking into their 50s with no need for drastic measures or even botox. Don’t any of you know women like this? I certainly do.
Her b.oobs, however, have seen drastic work twice. Nothing is more obvious when you see pics of her in her 20s with barely an A cup and then her later enhancement up to a nice B cup and then finally her huge ones that didn’t quite fit her body type. They are great work and look pretty natural.
Little Valentina is as adorable as are most toddlers but she does favor her father’s looks. That may give her a really interesting look as she matures.

Just a couple of weeks ago Selma said she was still nursing because she loves it and so does Valentina. So, if she is still nursing then, yes, Valentina is getting some nicotine into her body and Selma should quit. If she only started smoking while filming “Frida” then she hasn’t been doing it that long. She should be able to break the habit.
And, Angelina Jolie has not smoked since she adopted Maddox. Brad is trying to quit but cannot seem to. However, he said he does not smoke in the house or around the children.

I grew up in a time when everybody and his grandmother smoked. Kids inhaled second-hand smoke all day long. The great majority of us never suffered any ill effects from it.
However, back in the day we didn’t know how lethal cigarette smoke can be, even secondhand. I know of four women I used to work with, all heavy smokers, who started smoking in their 20’s and died of lung cancer from smoking in their 60’s. It’s a hellacious way to die.
Since there is abundant evidence now of just how dangerous cigarette smoke can be, not only to smokers but second-hand smoke as well, Hayek should quit smoking for her child’s sake, if not for her own.
For the record, I started smoking when I was 15, like most of my friends, and by the time I was 18 I was doing two packs a day. I quit cold turkey when I was 30 and I haven’t had a cigarette since.

For Salma being 42 and smoking she doesn’t look bad. But being a mother and having the damn nerve to smoke in front of her child is just stupid! I had a friend in 8th grade who smelled like he smokes but he told me that his whole family smokes so he just adapted the scent of cigarettes from being around the family. Also since Salma smokes her daughter Valentina will adapt the smoking odor just like my friend did from the 8th grade. Valentina’s hair, clothes, and skin will smell like cigarettes. Not only that but it will affect the health of Valentina too since she is breathing her mother smoking.
I have another friend who’s mother quit entirely once she got pregnant with her. Hopefully one day Salma will realize that her daughter is going to stink really bad!

My parents smoked, a lot, when I was little, and most of it not even out but inside the house. My mum also did it a few times while pregnant.
I’m not sayin I approve that, it’s horrible, but today, neither me nor my brother smoke.

It’s amazing how everyone downs ONLY celebrities for smoking, how it’s so nasty for them or OMG they’re horrible for smoking around their kids… How about the other 78% of the population who smoke in closed doors around their kids? You don’t see anyone downing most of the world for doing it, only on these stupid sites where celebrity’s are. Truth be known, the ones downing them for it are the ones doing it themselves. But, arent’ they capable of making their own decisions REGARDLESS if they’re celebrity’s or not?
