Hugh Jackman is a Nuggets Man

This is all very interesting. This is my first time on this site. I was looking for an HD trailer for Wolverine, and like most first timers, I ended up exploring the surrounding posts, and ended up reading the various comments here. I remain somewhat puzzled by the direction of the discussion so please do tell me if I am getting things wrong here. This is a site that mainly stores paparazzi pictures of the stars and the occasional trailer, so the focus is by definition on the way people look [glamorous at perieres, with their loved ones to give the average Joe a glimpse of reality, bad candid pictures that would never show up in Vanity Fair...]. My point here is simple: the comments on these posts is unlikely to be about subtantial issues because of the nature of the site. Pictures of Mr Jackman at the ‘Australia’ premiere are unlikely to elicit an in-depth across-the-world chat about the Aboriginal tragedy, or indeed why some people may think that Mr Jackman is a really good actor, why others do not. The point of the post is that it shows pictures of Hugh Jackman going to a Basketball game with his family. As someone who lived in Australia back in the days of ‘Corelli’, I can confirm that his wife was never stunning, but it’s not like he needs my benediction to love her. Like a few people here, I am shocked at the brutality of the ageism levelled against Ms Furness, but then again the paparazzi culture encourages that: one minute Nicole Kidman is lambasted for having too much plastic surgery, the next Deb Furness is lambasted for not having had any. It’s a bit like the covers of Celeb magazines in Britain: one week it’s a fat girls in Bikinis road-crash special, the next a sordid and hypocritical expose on starlets who starve themselves… I won’t launch into a lecture about it - my point is really more about emotion than intellect: why is it that you care so much about what Ms Furness looks like? I’m pretty sure I look better than her, and not just because I am 20 years younger, and guess what: Mr Jackman still doesn’t want me. He’s never going to want me. He doesn’t know me, and even if he did, he still wouldn’t want me. Obviously I can live with it just fine, and I don’t need to tell myself she looks like his mother, or the maid to swallow that jagged little pill.

I want to challenge your motives a little bit: perhaps the reason that people find it so hard to accept Ms Furness’ looks is because deep down they’d like to think that their ‘failure’ to be with a man like him [attractive, successful, famous and rich] must be down to some sort of justice, a hierarchy of attractiveness that makes their own obscurity that little bit more acceptable. Ms Furness’ normality is hard to accept because it highlights that these things are really quite arbitrary.

The truth of it is that there is a political economy of celebrity: not just the films, but also the magazines and beauty products and fashion… In this kind of political economy, nothing and no-one is ever quite good enough, because if they were, we’d stop spending. Hugh Jackman can only be the ’sexiest man alive’ insofar as it will be someone else next year, someone a little younger, a little more pumped up, a little hipper, and then, just like that, people will be writing ‘he’s hot’ about somebody else.

It’s not for me to say in any definite manner, but if you want my opinion on the matter, Hugh Jackman looks happy. Now that’s something better than hot.

It’s quite simple folks: HJ’s wife and family are really none of our business. And I agree with a previous post: If you cannot say something nice, don’t say it.

Ava is adorable and doesn’t look like she has downs sydrome at all, and if she did, so what. You don’t pick and choose your kids based on looks. Your comments are the rudest yet. Go back under your rock where you F’in belong.

In response to No. 58, if you think the comments are bad on this site, you should read people’s responses with regard to Sadie Sandler. Just as fugly looking - difficult to pick between the two from all accounts.

His wife is only 48! Wiki says, she’s born in 1960, so she is just 8 years older than Hugh. And so what? They seem to be very happy, even after 12 years marriage. And that without any scandals.

She looks great! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! My husband is 6 years younger than me , even looks much younger , so what ? I don’t care if lots of women think he’s hot , he’s mine , he loves me. I guess it’s the same for the Jackmans’. So all you young ‘pretty’ girls : get a life or get a rope to hang yourself now you’re still young and pretty , than you never have to worry about getting old and wrinkled!

Realize that in a few years, the same will be true for Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher (IF they stay together that long) and their 15 YEARS difference, granted, Demi is aging nicely (nipping here, tucking there), but which is it; cool or not cool, or only cool until someone hits their 50’s?…And what about Halle and her 10-yrs-younger-baby-daddy…
