Katie Holmes is Almost Late for Work
Katie Holmes sprints through New York City’s Times Square in order to make it to work (Arthur Miller’s All My Sons at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater) on time Tuesday night. (She wore 7 for All Mankind Bell Bottom jeans.)
Katie, husband Tom Cruise, and daughter Suri Cruise had been spotted leaving their New York City apartment together earlier in the evening, but after taking a look at the traffic (with New Year’s Eve just one day away, it must have been pretty busy in Times Square!), Katie went on alone.
The reunited family were spotted at the stage door later on in the night.

Tom and Katie don’t even really live together in California—depending whether you consider separate bedrooms and assigned portions of the property to be “living together”. So it’s really not much of a surprise or shock that they also stay in separate places in New York. I also knew about that months ago.
Tom Cruise thinks he continue to conjure up this fantasy of a picture perfect life, just as if he were making a movie for us (the public). I don’t think Katie is a good enough actress to carry it off and keeps showing more of the strain. He’ll continue to try, getting plastic surgery to make himself appear more youthful, etc, but I don’t think she will be able to keep it up much longer. I think living life outside the California or Colorado compounds, where she has been surrounded by Scientology handlers was an experience for “Kate” that caused her to revaluate.
She still isn’t in Scientology 100% no matter what Tom may claim when he speaks for her. I think they have their work set out for them if they want to get her into it completely now, and I wouldn’t doubt if it ultimately affects their “marriage” like it did with Nicole Kidman.
I understand Katie was very upset to be the focus of attention for Scientology (regarding the prostesters at her play getting press attention, etc). Unlike Tom, she NEVER wanted to be any kind of poster child for the religion and hoped that part of her arrangement with him would fly mostly under the radar. She can respect his intense devotion to it if she has to, but doesn’t feel the same by any means. It’s definitely become a point of contention with them–as any two people who jump into a relationship without really knowing each other are bound to have to face real issues eventually.

I was just wondering why Katie is labeled a fashionista??! My daughter and daughter-in-law dress exactly the same way! But, of course I am sure Katie’s clothes cost as much as their mortgage payments combined!!

Great post. I am also one he criticizes and disbelieves for working in the media and having *gasp* inside insight and info. I majored in R-TV-film and worked at six radio stations, two TV stations and a film production company in a major market. Also had a dad that hobnobbed with some of the power players on the sports scene through his job. So I’ve met at least a couple of hundred rock stars, sports players, actors, actresses etc. And continue to have drinks with friends who are still in the industry and we *gasp* again GOSSIP about these over inflated egos!
What Mr. Blonde doesn’t understand is that there is a public Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes and a private Tom and Katie. Nor does he put the whole picture together to form a complete picture in his own mind. Take the supposition that if what you say is true, tidbits of what other bloggers (who have met her) and magazines say is true– rather than wholy relying on what comes out of her mouth or Tom’s mouth or People or Entertainment–then you start forming a picture that is a more real Katie than the image she is trying to project. And it isn’t always flattering.
What Mr. B is blind to is the fact that People Magazine very rarely criticizes or does in depth articles on stars. In fact it is well known that much of what they publish is from the star’s publicist calling and saying Tom and Katie celebrated their anniversary at blah blah and the love birds cooed and kissed and yadda yadda yadda. That vs. a TMZ which reports the more scurrilous gossip. Or something like the National Enquirer or Star which mainly publishes crap, but occasionally someone wants money and will sell out someone and they will actually get a major TRUE scoop. It is very well known in the industry that if you want good PR for your client, then contact People. This includes things like contacting them for exclusives on when your client is divorcing, is pregnant etc.
I know the film folk (mainly crew) that I’ve talked to don’t like working with Tom because of the Scientology. When he was the number one power player they were afraid to challenge him or to do anything that might result in their being blacklisted with other directors (i.e. not a good worker etc). I understand now that he has lost power more of them are standing up and saying no to in-my-face scientology crap. Of course when you do get information second hand some of it may be exaggerated or untrue. I’ve not heard anything about Katie. But some of the folks I’ve had drinks with have said Tom is actually very insecure, needs to be the center of attention at all times, and is very draining to be around because of his need to be at that center. They have said he is very professional, shows up on time, knows what he is doing, treats the staff well (except for that pesky scientology crap). Most of the folks I’ve heard gossip from prefer working with Kidman. They have said she is a bit fragile in the ego department, but again is hard working, knows the crew, shows up on time, and doesn’t waste time.
Unfortunately people like Mr. Blonde believe everything that comes out of a celeb’s mouth (or people) as the gospel. A celeb is always always conscious of their image and they will say what is necessary to stay in the public eye and grace. I adore Kidman, but it doesn’t blind me to her faults. Same goes for Brad and Angelina.
Tom, Nicole, Brad, Angie–these folks all have huge egos, a strong sense of their acting worth, and they are all masters at their own PR. Katie in my estimation is way out of her league and is failing miserably on the self promotion/PR angle.
I do believe in spite of his denials that Mr. B probably has Scientology connections. The way he frames his answers sounds somewhat like some of their literature. Gee, maybe he worked for Tom and he is now a Stepford Tom-in-Training?

Oh come off it Diana (and Mr. Blonde). There is plenty of criticism on the Jolie-Pitt threads. And it is much crueler than what is posted here. You realize TomKat would not attract half of the negativity if Jared didn’t post threads practically every day and sometimes several times a day. I think the posts here are quite tame in comparison to many of the posts on the Jolie Pitt threads, the Aniston threads, the Kidman threads etc.
And I do feel very sorry for Suri. From age 0 to about 3 a child is very self centered (child psych) and around three begins to view the world with others in it and starts to realize they are not the focal point of the world. Poor Suri. The way Tom and Katie have her constantly in the limelight cannot be healthy. This child has paps yelling at her, flashing their cameras etc. Tom and Katie should be protecting her instead of bragging about what great pics the paps take. Brad Pitt has said several time he does not want his kids to think it is normal to go outside and be accosted by the paps. Brad and Angie tend to protect their kids, TomKat pimps her out. Why isn’t Tom pushing Connor to the for front? Afterall, Connor wants to be an actor and is in a movie. To me it is just plain odd that they literally throw Suri to the wolves. How shallow so many of these comments are about Suri–focusing on her being pretty and not what is underneath those looks. She could be a major brat, but that is okay because she is the most beautiful of the celeb children? Will everyone think that if she turns out to be a Paris Hilton? What values are Tom and Katie teaching her? That looking pretty, getting your picture taken all the time, and just being cute is enough to make it thru life? What if Suri doesn’t want her picture taken? Which in many photos she does not. Why are those two parents not more sensitive towards her feelings? These are all questions sensible people ask and are not an attack. Most of the attacks are on Katie’s fashion choices. And yes some are on her physical attributes, but Angie and Brad get the same type of attacks.
Go back to a AJ and BP thread and read it critically and you’ll see the attacks on them, their kids, and anything they do are fodder for cruel comments. Of all sorts. I’ve never seen the depth of meaness and cruelty on the TomKat threads that I see on the JP threads.
