Gerard Butler: Phantom Sequel Star?
Gerard Butler walks along Collins Avenue with a few buds in Miami’s South Beach on Tuesday night (December 30).
London’s Times reports that Andrew Lloyd Webber is planning a 2009 sequel to his megahit musical The Phantom of the Opera.
Gerry and Hugh Jackman are reportedly top contenders for the role. Phantom: Love Never Dies will open in New York, London and possibly Shanghai or another Asian city.
WOULD YOU WATCH the Phantom sequel — YAY or NAY?

I don’t understand what the big attraction is with Butler. He looks haggard, blotchy and has no sense of style. What is the big attraction? Trust me; he’s on his way out. None of his 2009 movies look remotely interesting.
Brightman and Crawford both suck, IMO. I can’t stand his voice and her weird manner of singing.
Ya’ll realize he’s a closeted gay man, right?
Happy New Year everyone! I’m with # 37 on POTO … prefer Gerard to Hugh, although I am also a fan of Hugh. With regards to GB’s sexual tendencies, I’d prefer them to lean towards me (LOL) BUT, the more I read up on him and the more ‘casual’ pics I see of him i.e. off screen or non-red carpet events, the greater my suspicions are that Gerard is gay. Siiigghhh …
Personally, I don’t think Mr. Butler should go for the stage play unless everything else goes south. For the most part, sequels usually are not as successful as the original. I feel he should forget the stage play and wait for the movie. This way he won’t be tied up as long in case he has other fish to fry. Just a thought!
Baby , i dont know where you’ve been but me and gerry have been spending our time in miami in our hotel… other than the few times he checked out the hot spots Weve been having our own party in the room , and damn is he so good !!!!!!!! YUM - wouldnt have it any other way ..
I say Nay. I wouldn’t be interested in seeing the sequel.
Yes, Of course I’d watch Gerard in the sequel…He was marvelous in the first movie so why wouldn’t he be great in the next version? Yes, Yes Yes…!!!!
Sultress,
Yes!! Ger is the obvious choice for the fantom!! I always wondered why the phantom himself was to have a voice like Crawford which did not fit . It was to pretty with no real emotion showing. Butlers voice on the other hand was good, not perfect, but raw and lots of emotion !!! It fits the character better. I can see why Webber casted Gerry. The acting too was good and the combo with his acting and singing made the character right!! When I saw Ger in the Fantom I fell in LOVE. Not just in Gerry but the music grabbed me as well. This movie brought music back into my life that I surpressed for many years and Gerry helped with that too. For this I am grateful.
If Hugh would get the role I’d even fly to London to watch it!
I love Hugh, but Gerry is my favorite phantom. Loved him in the movie. I hope he’ll do the sequel.
It got to be GERRY i can not see nobody else .He’s unique, my God are they blind? GERRY GERRY GERRY!!!!!!!You are the one and only, please do this for your fans and show everyone that you are the best.
I would watch anything with Gerry in it. I am going to marry him and have his children!! (LOL) I really am, I am working on becoming an actress. i’m going to move to LA and land a smoking role, and I will run into him. i’m going to propose to him!!!!!!
Photographer: Where’s Jasmine?
Gerry: It’s OK, she’s parking the car like the dutiful woman that she is!!!!
