OlderJett Travolta Dead at 16 (John Travolta’s Son)
Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of John Travolta has died after suffering a seizure at his family’s vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island.
Travolta’s attorney, Michael Ossi, tells Reuters that attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene.
Access reports Jett fell and hit his head on a bathtub at the hotel. TMZ reports Jett was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital.
Travolta, 54, wife Kelly Preston, 46, and their family had been vacationing in the Bahamas. Travolta and Preston also have a daughter, Ella, 8.
Travolta has said Jett suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome (a condition that leads to heart disease in rare cases). Preston has also said Jett suffered from asthma and blamed household cleaners, fertilizers and pesticides for sparking the condition. According to People, she credited a detoxification program based on the writings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard with helping to improve Jett’s health.

Seizures are not listed as part of the Kawasaki disease symptoms/complications. I wonder if he was epileptic? It sounds like he had a seizure, and during the seizure hit his head on the bathroom floor/tile or shower etc. That sort of thing can happen to anyone who has a seizure - and is a hazard of just being alone when a seizure hits. At sixteen he was plenty old enough to be alone in the bathroom.
He was awfully young, what a shame. As much as a I poke fun at Travolta, I could never laugh at someone losing a child.
it is hard to imagine that at a time like this, people that have no clue how they live their lives, are talking down to them because of their choice in religion. this is the most difficult thing a person would ever have to go through in their lives, no matter what their religious preferences are. as someone who had a young cousin die after following a seizure, i know that religion played no role in that, and it doesnt in this situation either. how about just keep a mouring family in your prayers and not criticize them based on how they live their lives, as that is irrelvant in a time like this.

#72–my cousin died after a lenghty seizure at 17. he didnt hit his head on the floor or anything, it wasnt about that, when you have a seizure your brain is being deprived of oxygen. once his seizure stopped he was brain dead and was on life support and had to be taken off.

He died violently three years ago on Jan.4th in Austin, TX after parking his vehicle 7 spaces down from a restaurant. He left in the car a 15 month old baby girl. He walked into the doors of a Chinese restaurant and as he was leaving an SUV can crashing through the front doors of the restaurant. No one else was hurt. He lay dying under the left wheel of the vehicle attempting with his last breath to elcit help from the restaurant staff trying to tell one of the waiters that he had left a baby in the car. No one could understand what he meant. He died 12 minutes later.
I know what it is like to receive a call at 9:30 at night thinking that he was safe only to be told that he was dead. My heart reaches out to you in this tragic time of loss and unexplainable grief and sadness. Your life will never again be the same because he will always be missing. My son was a very private person and died in a very public arena as well. His death was reported as the 2nd fatality of the New Year. He died amid people screaming on their cell phones for help, the sound of sirens blazing, the police, the press and overhead helicopter attempting to “get shots of the scene.” My heart reaches out to you and your wife and daughter in this tragic time of loss so great that it is hard to breathe. There is a strong link between autism and seizures in adolescents- nearly 25% of autistic children develop epilepsy in their teens.
It is extremely sad that the Travoltas’ belief in Scientology kept them from exploring treatments and therapys that could have HELPED their son. If there was even a remote chance he had autism, if he ever showed any symptoms (which, according to neighbors and friends, he did), it is horrendous that the Travolta’s would put thier own fantasies before their son’s needs.

I hope Social Services investigate the Travoltas. There is no doubt in my mind that Jett was killed due to parental abuse. John and Kelly are cult members who denied their handicapped son the proper treatment. Tripp was murdered and the Travoltas should be held accountable for their negligence.

This is a gorgeous picture of Jett and his parents. I remember it being published and I always thought it was a great picture because of the incredible love that shines through their faces.
I never liked the fact that Kelly and John lied about his medical condition in order to keep in line with whatever Scientology is preaching about autism and other unfair conditions, but losing your 16-year-old son is a tragedy no parent should have to go through.
My heart truly goes out to Kelly and John, and their poor little almost 9-year-old daughter Ella. Her birthday’s up in four months, I can’t believe the sadness they must be experiencing right now.

Some of you are horrible, horrible people. I don’t doubt that Jett had some sort of developmental delays, but it has nothing to do with his death. He was known to have seizures, and if he hit his head in the tub and it triggered a seizure, it most certainly is not foul play. And for those of you say they were embarrassed by their “retarded” son and did away with him because of Scientology’s beliefs, why would they wait until he is 16? Why not do it a long time ago? It makes absolutely no sense. If you look at videos and photos through the years, it’s obvious they loved their son very much but were protecting him. Isn’t that what any parent would do?

I read an interview with a family friend who described how John and Kelly would let Jett stuff himself with junk food and sit in front of video games unattended for 6 hours. The poor child grew obese and unhealthy which exacerbated his Autism. Of course John and Kelly only ate the best organic foods - only the best for themselves. Let the handicapped kid eat the garbage.
The Travoltas neglected and abused Jett throughout his young life. They were ashamed and embarrassed by his condition and tried to hide it from the world. John denied he even had a son. They deprived him of medical attention. Jett was severely mistreated.
The harsh truth is that John and Kelly murdered Jett. I don’t know if John organized a “hit” with the Scientologists but he did kill Jett through years of emotional and physical abuse. My gut feeling is that John looked the other way while the Scientologists took care of his problem.

Apparently this young man met neither, so he paid the price for both an evil cult and a Soddom and Gomorrah society. It’s true. Kelly has another son by her first husband in Hawaii, who is cared for by her family. He also has severe problems, and can’t live on his own. She never speaks about him.
Kelly’s family had to sue Kelly to get her first child treated with traditional medicine and therapies. There is a huge rift between them because Kelly wanted total $cientology control over the kid from California. Her family, who diaper and feed the boy (all grown up now), who provide the hands on care, won the case and the child gets the best of whatever modern medicine can provide. This has been confirmed by court records even if Kelly pretends he doesn’t exists now.

I knew someone who had seizures and it was a fall at the bathroom sink, triggered by a seizure, that ended her life… So this is the same thing, it was just an accident Seizures are unexpected and happen regardless of treatment… My heart goes out to the family….

His life has changed he is so much better.I live in Anthony,FL right across from him.They are a wonderful family and my thoughts and prayers go out to them. My thoughts and prayers are with John and his wife. I lost my sister almost a year ago and I lost a best friend today ,also. To lose some one in their 60’s is really hard, but at least they have had some life. I also lost my brother at the age of 16. There is no comparison in losing a child my heart goes out to them. All these people that have so much to say because of there believes-Ignorance is bliss. They love there children no matter what. Is it true that Kelly has another son that is severely autistic? I have read that he is being raised by her parents who had to sue Kelly for child support and ful custody. It is from her first marriage to Kevin Gage. Also, John and Kelly both denied that Jett had autism and in a recent interview Kelly says that they believe it came from him getting into toxic chemicals when he was young. I wonder if her first son also got into toxic chemicals.

It is terrible when a loved one dies and my heart does go out to the family however being an X scientologist , I will tell you that John and his family will go thru a different process than normal people do when there is a death. They would immediately go into session to “handle the loss”. That means they would use the e meter and answer questions asked by an auditor. Then they would try to “get in comm” (scientology’s word for communication) with the being to try and “handle” them. Which basically means they would talk to Jett, or the spirit of Jett and then tell him to go and pick up another body. (they don’t believe in heaven or hell, they believe Jesus was an implant.) Then afterwards, although there would still be a loss, it would not be expected that they would be very over emotional about it because that would put them right back in session which is suppose to take the sadness away. One of the reasons I left the church of Scientology was because we really weren’t allowed to feel things until we were just done feeling them. So to a Scientologist , feeling too much sadness is something to be remedied in session. Which I don’t agree with. I’m not saying his family is not sick with saddness over this terrible tradgedy, I’m just saying this is what is standard when a person dies in Scientology. No matter if it was autisum or Kawasaki disease or whatever, I do know that that boy had a physical condition that was being treated with Scientology and it did not work. I just read K disease is treatable within a few weeks and only when it goes untreated does it create heart problems etc. I hope people read the story of Jett and his life and see that something just wasn’t right about it. That maybe he might still be alive if he had been allowed the proper drugs and treatment which I know Scientology does not allow.

I don’t think it’s right to speculate about what happened in this particular situation. Someone has lost their son, it doesn’t matter who it is or what they believe in - this is a hard time for them. No one should ever be told they deserve to lose a loved one because of their beliefs. It doesn’t matter if he was autistic or not, a 16 year old boy’s life has ended, and his family deserves respect during this time. They do not deserve the abuse they are being subjected to by some of the people on this wall. As the old saying goes - “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”.

I do want to comment on some of really ignorant comments I have read here. First of all, I don’t know the condition of the chil- whether he had suffered autism or not. And if he did was he ever treated, etc. However, to only regard “western medications” as the proper treatment is such a BS &$#+*!!! No I am not an scientiolgist nor do I know their practices or believes. But I can assure you people that it is not only scientiologists whom don’t believe in the “proper western medical treatment” many other people also shy away from them. And contrary to the myth (or what your TV tells you) western medications don’t usually provide cure, they “manage” the symptoms or keep them under control. So people can continue to function normal. There are usually many side effects when taking those Meds and they can become addictive or cause people to have to depends on them. But many people are seeking healthy alternative treatment so they can treat the root of the problem and not have to depend on Meds for life!!!! Ok. I am not trying to discredit any medical treatment and I am sure they have saved or helped many lives. I too also take medicatons as needed. And I am grateful that we have access to all those care. I am also not making any defense for any one. It just makes me sad that people are so ignorant… Don’t just listen to whatever your TV tells you!

Even IF (and nobody here knows this or not) the Travoltas didn’t get “treatment” for autism, guess what, autism is not some fatal disease. People don’t die from autism. They do get seizures sometimes. You can use medication to “lesson” the possibility of seizures, but they DO NOT PREVENT seizures.

RIP poor Jett…the look in that kids eyes is so sad. He counted on his parents to do the best for him as he was too helpless to do it himself. I don’t want to go on too much about it right now but I will tell you that most Scientologists, if not all really believe what “pandaamanda” wrote, they just don’t communicate that to people not in the church. They have no tolerance for people with special needs. During my entire 10 years involved I never saw one person in a wheel chair at a church org or handicapped or even elderly. They think of mentally challenged people as DB’s, degrated beings. Same with homeless people and even gay people. This is another issue I had with the church. I was speaking with a scientologist once about my friends sister who needed around the clock care and she said it would be better if she just went ahead and died (scientologists like to say “dropped their body”) so she could pick up another body in another lifetime. There is no compassion and this is how a lot of Scientologists feel on the subject point blank. They believe they will just live again and have lived milions of lives already so death is not thought of the same as most people.
I am a member of Annonymous now and that’s why I’m writing this, I want people to know the truth about Scientology and that it is not safe. It is an extremely radical sect and can kill innocent people. I myself believe in God now and feel that Jett IS in heaven with the Lord and will suffer no longer. But I can’t help but feel sorry for the family because Scientology or not, death is the hardest thing to go thru. But maybe they will open their eyes and see the truth.

I don’t know what to say, but i feel compelled to say something. I am shocked and extremely upset for the Travolta family and friends. This is a horrible horrible thing to happen. 16 years old. No-one knows yet the full details of what happened - Wait for “respectful” sources to report the facts (CNN News, Time, People, etc.) because I’ll TRUST THEM over so-called news agency, “TMZ”, ANY DAY.
Also, Scientology is NOT the ONLY “religion” that is leery of the use of medications… Look at cases like Thalidomide “babies”, Prozac (bad side-effects), phen-phen (”safe” weight loss pills) etc.; go searching for some real horror stories. Very sad and shameful if it proves this was avoidable through careful management of appropriate medication. But let’s face it - we’ll never know. It will be hushed up and the funeral will be shown across the world on entertainment shows.

I am crushed to hear this terrible news. My heart pours out for the parents. It is something no parent ever wants to imagine.
John Travolta and Kelly stayed in my town for a while when he was filming “Domestic Disturbance”. I saw them out with Jett a few times. He did seem to exhibit all classic signs of autism as I know it, but they were very private about anything to do with him. There was nothing to indicate that they were anything but involved parents when I saw them together, but there are such thing as anti-seizure medications for children with that kind of history. I only hope that their beliefs did not prevent them from seeking out or utilizing all the treatment options available through modern medicine. Sadly, it is my understanding that some of these meds are the very ones Scientology is so against.
If John was so close to Jett where was he and Kelly when this happened? And why did no one notice Jett’s absence until Friday when he went into the bathroom on Thursday? Something doesn’t make sense here! Anyone know any more info?
My condolences out to the Travolta family. And I don’t think anyone should be blamed for this even occuring. My sister had autism as well, and passed away last year in October. I spent alot of moments blaming myself, blaming my family, blaming hospital officials for not arriving on time. But there was only so much we could’ve done. Anyone could’ve made the same mistake!!

What Killed Jett Travolta?
We may never know, but a new report from TMZ says it was the result of a seizure and was discovered swiftly by nanny, Jeff Kathrein, a photographer and fellow Super Adventure Club member:
Police have said the last time anyone saw Jett was when he went to the bathroom on January 1. His body was discovered by nanny Jeff Kathrein the next day at 10 AM. In fact, McDermott and Ossi say it appears Jett went back and forth to his room and the fatal injury occurred “very shortly” before Jett was found on the bathroom floor — McDermott called it a “small window of time.”
McDermott and Ossi tell us two nannies were present on the trip and Jeff was by his side 24/7. There was a baby monitor device by Jett’s side and there was also a chimer in the bathroom when the door opened.
An autopsy will not reveal autism, but it might help clear up some details. Quite why a 16-year-old needed a 24-hour nanny and a baby monitor device remains unclear. Kawasaki Syndrome is not among the likely reasons. A reader who copes with seizures writes:
There are many different sorts of seizures. I have the type where I lose consciousness. It sounds like Jett did as well. I had one on Saturday, and so when I heard this news, I immediately thought about my medication regimen, my home safety, and so on.
I have no idea if Jett had autism, but it is established that he had seizures. Typically, if a person has several seizures over a period of time, and has an atypical EEG, anti-epilepsy drugs (AED’s) are prescribed. I would wonder if he was taking the appropriate drugs, given their public statements and their supposed religious beliefs. If he was not, they are probably now living in their own capital H hell.
People do die from seizures, and can die in several different ways.
A protracted seizure, usually tonic-clonic, where a person loses consciousness, left untreated can cause death - status epilepticus. Obviously, while seizing, people can drown, even in a bathtub. SUDEP is Sudden Unexpected Death in a person with Epilepsy, in which a person is found dead, and 1. the death is unwitnessed, so the cause is not known, but the 2. fact is established that a person had a history of seizures, 3. is otherwise physically healthy, and 4. there isn’t an obvious cause of death. There isn’t a way to talk about statistics associated with it that I know of ~ the risk seems to be attached with how well a person is controlled, compliance with their AED’s, age, seizure history.
Anyway, people on the epilepsy boards are pouring out sympathy to the family, because it is a reality we all push to the back corners of our mind, until we are reminded of the possibility. People are also now busy trying to cram their fears back into those corners and have a normal Saturday, Sunday and so forth.
If Jett Travolta’s seizures remained untreated for theological reasons, the debate is just starting.

Police in the Bahamas are disagreeing with John Travolta’s staff in the wake of the New Year’s Day death of his son Jett, 16, at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel about how long the teenager lay undiscovered in the bathroom.
Police are reporting that Jett was left alone for more than ten hours from when he was last seen heading to his bedroom at the Travolta’s vacation townhouse at 6 PM after a day of boating with his family. Jett’s nanny, Jeff Kathrein, reportedly found Jett lying on the bathroom floor at 11:30 PM, TMZ reports.
Jett Travolta, who was disabled, was nonverbal and required the use of a baby monitor and a special chime to summon his two male nannies if required.
Kathrein and the Travolta’s attorney, Michael McDermott, says that Kathrein went to the bathroom in the time span between 6 PM when Jett left the room and 11:30 PM when his body was discovered so Jett was reportedly not unattended for ten hours.
The teenager is alleged to have possibly had a seizure and struck his head, which could have caused his death. McDermott also reports that Jett was known to sleep for 12 to 16 hours a day so him not being present for a long period of time would not have been unusual.
The official cause of death will be reported by the coroner on Monday.
Their attorney reports that Jett’s parents John Travolta and Kelly Preston have “stopped crying long enough last night to try to write a press statement, which they haven’t finished.”
And can the doctors and medical professionals release medical statements, not the Travolta’s lawyer? They are f****** up on the information.
Does the baby being born not already have a soul? If they encourage their followers to go to the hospital to get a new body what happens to the babies original soul, is it lost, does it go back to heaven. Are they saying that babies are born without souls and need a new one to come and take over their bodies? That just does not make a lick of sense. May God, in his infinite wisdom and kindness have mercy on their stupid, cult blinded souls.

On another note, I please plead the media to stop bothering the Travolta’s at this time. They lost there only son, first child, this is not a good time to be shoving a microphone in there faces.

autism doesn’t even cause seizures. he had a seizure and hit his head and that’s how he died.
also, scientology was helping the kid as best they could.

aside from john travolta’s choice of religion, it is so sad that they have lost their son, first born child and ella’s brother at the age of 16, so young! my condolences to john, kelly and ella for the loss of their dear jett!!
