Lisa Marie Presley: Stop Slamming Scientology!

Lisa Marie Presley has taken to her blog to tell her fans that now is NOT the time to be bashing Scientology. Here’s what the daughter of Elvis had to say:

“I wished I could be writing you under happier circumstances but I cannot because two of my very good friends, (John and Kelly Travolta) the sweetest people in the world, have just encountered the worst possible tragedy a parent could be forced to endure, the death of their son Jett.

“My heart is crying and bleeding for them. I personally would not have it in me to bury my own child. I am writing this because I have noticed that for the most part, people and the media have been very sympathetic and respectful, but there are those certain ones that want to use this horrible tragedy as an opportunity to once again, blame and or attack Scientology?”

“Folks, as popular as it has been to discriminate and ridicule Scientology and Scientologist’s in the recent past , Now is NOT the time. I realize that there is a lot of mis information out there about the subject which has caused a lot of stone throwing but we are not still in the dark ages and it is still an Unconstitutional Injustice to partake in and encourage such condemnation.

“Among most of the crazy made up garbage that goes around about it , It is not true that Scientologist’s ‘Don’t believe in’ medical care, medicine or medical Doctors and that may have something to do with this terrible tragedy. Just like anyone else, if one is sick, they go to the doctor, If a medication will make it better then they take it. If they don’t then they are an idiot and you can’t blame their religion. Whatever medical and or physical condition Jett had, I can tell you first hand that his parents were on a tireless, never ending quest to get and provide him with the absolute best care anyone could ever ask for and need, Medically, physically, emotionally, medicinally and spiritually.

“I am not writing this to preach my beliefs, I am here to protect my friends. To the few of you out there that this may apply to, Let’s not use the tragic death of a child to facilitate your insatiable need to attack and destroy Scientology shall we? John and Kelly have done nothing but spend their lives and their time helping others, making people happy and making peoples lives better. Please let this family grieve in peace. ~LMP

Lisa, 40, also had this to say about her 3-month-old twin girls Harper and Finley: “PS, I am so sorry it has been such a long time since I have written. I have just been soaking up the love and the happiness that these two little babies have brought us. More on that soon…….:) Thank you so much for all of your well wishes. I love and miss you very much. I’ll be in touch.”

I agree. Some people are disgusting. I’ve seen people trying to slam scientology during a terrible time for the Travolta’s. That’s horrible of them.

even if I DO believe S’ology is more than a bit cultish (from my own personal experiences with a member). John & Kelly and their kids have always expressed to the world an obvious head over heels love for each other, and it sucks that some in the media tryng to sell its gossip rags and shows, and some others who crusade against the philosophy, also wanna use the childs death for their purposes.

Shes right, its not the time to be slashing Scientology, but something needs to be done about it. Its a CULT.

# 4

Wonderfully written. I hope people read and lay off.

““Folks, as popular as it has been to discriminate and ridicule Scientology and Scientologist’s in the recent past ”

Guilty of apostrophe abuse!

Never liked her, but KUDOS for this post, could not agree more, some people go WAY to faar!

Well maybe I haven’t read a lot about this but None of the articles I have read about Jett talked about scientology, so I dont know why she is commenting. There seem to be somewhat conflicting stories about how exactly he died but as much as I dislike Travolta, I dont doubt that he did everything he could to save his child, it is clear that he is a loving parent.

$cientology is a very scary, very dangerous cult. That said, my heart does go out to John and Kelly, as it is a tragic thing to lose a child.

“It is not true that Scientologist’s ‘Don’t believe in’ medical care, medicine or medical Doctors and that may have something to do with this terrible tragedy.”

She’s lying or playing word games. Scientologists do not believe in psychiatrists or psychiatric drugs. Remember when Tom Cruise ranted a couple of years ago about Brooke Shields taking (and promoting) antidepressant medication for her postpartum depression?

Sorry, but sometimes difficult questions must be asked. Especially if asking them might help prevent future tragedies of this nature.

Very nice until I got to her signature and thought it meant “last menstrual period”.

Scientologists claim that a psychological diagonsis is not medical.

They also claim that they are not involved in any medical diagnosis.

A psychological diagnosis is not medical? EXCUSE ME?

If they are not involved in medical diangosis - how can they claim what is and what is not medical?

If Tom Cruise wants to find out about the Emotional Trauma involved with having a child I suggest he gets a sex change opperation and find out - Otherwise He should STFU about something he will never know nothing about!

This woman is an idiot. Most people don’t care that much about Scientology - in fact, the founder’s self-stated goal was to invent a ‘religion’ and see which suckers would come along. And as we can see, there are a lot of them…but that isn’t the issue.

People have the right to ask if Travolta’s son was deprived of medication because of his parents’ beliefs. This isn’t bashing a religion, it’s posing a question which should be asking because it’s a matter of simple child care.

If she doesn’t want to understand this, then she is just an idiot. I’ve always thought so, this is just confirmation.

I think she’s absolutely right.
Even when you think that Scientology is a bad thing:
you can discuss that later!
It’s such a sad tragedy for the Travolta family and
at this moment it’s not the right time to discuss about Scientology.
It’s not important whether Jett Travolta died for rumoured reasons.
He’s dead! The media shouldn’t use this for criticism.
I don’t think that parents (whatever tehy believe in) would ever risk the life of their own children! That’s such a bullshit!
I’m really upset about these rumours.
It shows that the press is heedless and insensible!

Just another PR piece from the $cientologists. A feeble attempt to divert attention from the REAL crimes here, how $cientology kills people.

As long as there are cults who attempt absolute mind control over their followers this sort of thing will happen.

Like one news reporter said, Scientologist are not Christian Scientist.

The Christian Scientist are the ones who absolutely refuse medication, and only use prayer to heal ills.

There are also the Jehova’s Witnesses who are against blood transfusions.

So ever since the whole Tom Cruise thing happened, they made this big rumor that Scientologist oppose all meds… that’s not true, but some nasties keep pushing this idea.

Sorry, John Travolta has taken these last few days to fill the airwaves with a spin on the situation to garner sympathy and not clear up discrepancies with the police as to there being a more than ten hour wait time before Jett was reached. And now the Travoltas have quickly cremated him.

#10, Anthony - said perfectly. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and realistically, not everyone has the same opinion as Lisa Marie Presley or other Scientology followers. So, in my opinion, LMP’s statement was uncalled for. No one is telling her to stop practicing it if that is her interest and if someone has a “bad opinion of Scientology,” he/she has the right to express it! It’s a terrible time for the Travoltas, may his son rest in peace and Jett’s family find peace!

_____

Exactly. Some people may not be old enough to remember a few mothers tricking the nation after having a hand in the death of their own children.

“Scientologists claim that a psychological diagonsis is not medical.

They also claim that they are not involved in any medical diagnosis.”

Thank you. So she is playing word games. When she writes about “medical care, medicine or medical Doctors” she’s not including psychiatric care, psychiatric medicine or psychiatric doctors.

We have all, including myself, expressed our condolences, for if nothing else, Jett’s soul to rest in peace.

Maybe Scientology practices have “rescued” adults such as Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Lisa Marie Presley, but not unknowing children like Jett who did not have a choice.

Right…this coming from a person who belongs to the same ‘religion’ as Jenna “have you raped a baby” Elfman who once stated that Aids is only a state of mind. Kind of makes you want to go and do some research before you believe a word that comes out of their mouths, doesn’t it?

When a child dies, it’s natural to wonder why.

When a child dies who had obvious developmental problems that went unacknowledged and untreated by his parents, is it NECESSARY to ask why.

We will never know if Jett was autistic or if he suffered from different developmental issues, but it’s clear form the testimony of many who worked with him and what little video footage is available that something was wrong with the boy, something that his parents blamed on a childhood disease that is not tied to any of the symptoms he showed in later life. (pro tip: Kawasakis only causes “febrile seizures”, seizures that happen during a fever, not the kind that Jett experienced)

Treatment may not have saved Jett’s life, but it may have improved the time that he had here. My heart goes out to the grieving parents, my rage to the community that forced them to treat their son like a leper.

Off Topic….but has this woman done anything remotely interesting other than: be the daughter of Elvis and to marry Michael Jackson?

As far as Jett Travolta goes:
Whether or not he had Autism is up to debate. Autism is not a fatal condition. As his parents they had the right to treat that condition as they saw fit. It seems that they ensured his safety, were very protective of him and loved him enough to give him the best of opportunities. There is no reason they needed to make him a “poster boy” for Autism awareness.

That being said. If he had a reoccurrent seizure disorder and was NOT under medical care, that could be defined as medical neglect.

Earlier reports I have read stated he was given anti-convulsants which minimize seizures but do not always stop them completely.

In any case this is a tragedy for the Travolta family. I believe they did what they thought was best for their son.
