Lisa Marie Presley: Stop Slamming Scientology!

Lisa Marie Presley has taken to her blog to tell her fans that now is NOT the time to be bashing Scientology. Here’s what the daughter of Elvis had to say:

“I wished I could be writing you under happier circumstances but I cannot because two of my very good friends, (John and Kelly Travolta) the sweetest people in the world, have just encountered the worst possible tragedy a parent could be forced to endure, the death of their son Jett.

“My heart is crying and bleeding for them. I personally would not have it in me to bury my own child. I am writing this because I have noticed that for the most part, people and the media have been very sympathetic and respectful, but there are those certain ones that want to use this horrible tragedy as an opportunity to once again, blame and or attack Scientology?”

“Folks, as popular as it has been to discriminate and ridicule Scientology and Scientologist’s in the recent past , Now is NOT the time. I realize that there is a lot of mis information out there about the subject which has caused a lot of stone throwing but we are not still in the dark ages and it is still an Unconstitutional Injustice to partake in and encourage such condemnation.

“Among most of the crazy made up garbage that goes around about it , It is not true that Scientologist’s ‘Don’t believe in’ medical care, medicine or medical Doctors and that may have something to do with this terrible tragedy. Just like anyone else, if one is sick, they go to the doctor, If a medication will make it better then they take it. If they don’t then they are an idiot and you can’t blame their religion. Whatever medical and or physical condition Jett had, I can tell you first hand that his parents were on a tireless, never ending quest to get and provide him with the absolute best care anyone could ever ask for and need, Medically, physically, emotionally, medicinally and spiritually.

“I am not writing this to preach my beliefs, I am here to protect my friends. To the few of you out there that this may apply to, Let’s not use the tragic death of a child to facilitate your insatiable need to attack and destroy Scientology shall we? John and Kelly have done nothing but spend their lives and their time helping others, making people happy and making peoples lives better. Please let this family grieve in peace. ~LMP

Lisa, 40, also had this to say about her 3-month-old twin girls Harper and Finley: “PS, I am so sorry it has been such a long time since I have written. I have just been soaking up the love and the happiness that these two little babies have brought us. More on that soon…….:) Thank you so much for all of your well wishes. I love and miss you very much. I’ll be in touch.”

@ #39 - No atheist sits around thinking about how Scientology gets a greater raw deal than other religions, or comes to JJ to argue with like 8 people.

In response to #39 your point has been asked & answered I think Mr Pink. I have seen no records of young children in the first throes of Kawasaki syndrome needing the care measures Jett Travolta did, let alone young men years past the point of infection or symptoms.

However in teenagers with autism the need for two carers, door alarms & a special diet…

Rather common.

It is not the time to dwell on this but one only needs to see the footage of Jett that is rapidly being removed from the internet to see what his symptoms were. In the 21st century it is distasteful to deny disability, whatever your beliefs.

i love her. you tell ‘em like it is lisa!

OMG…. the $cientologists are absolute experts at manipulating painful situations to their own profit and benefit. It is a good thing that people are using this obvious opportunity to criticize the cult.

True story from an Anonymous protest of Scientology in Clearwater. This is sad, but 100% truth.

“…But the most important thing that happened the whole night happened while we were wrapping up. The fireworks had gone, as well as the majority of the thousands of people that were there. We stood firm and continued to flier.

But when most everyone had left, a woman and her two children came up to us. By the time I was called over to speak to her, she was crying. She was a frail thing, skinny and small with a quiet young son and an unabashed, sugar crazed daughter, who was having a blast.

My fellow anons said she was eager for information about upcoming protests. I told her some specifics and she said she wanted to get involved… Then came more tears.

She told me that she went to the cult in a time of need. You see her quiet little, beautiful, son was a sufferer of autism. He was withdrawn, and shy. When he spoke it was deliberate… almost labored.

The Cult had told her that they could fix her son. They had the technology… if she had the money. They also told her that her sons affliction was her fault. A direct representation of mistakes she had made in her life. We told her that is EXACTLY why we’re out here. NO ONE should ever have to be told that a disability is their fault. NO ONE should ever be told that they have DAMAGED their child. And no one should have false hope dangled in their face while someone else lifts their wallet.

We told her that it was not her fault. And we told the boy that it wasn’t his fault and there was nothing “wrong” with him. He was a special child. To which she broke out in another wave of tears. Bending down to him and saying “Did you hear that? Its not your fault. There’s nothing wrong with you.”

THIS is why we’re here. For these people that would have trusted those who come under the guise faith to be faithful, and have been betrayed.”

This is what Scientology does. LMP, wake up. Now is the time to question. This woman’s child could have had the same fate as Jett thanks to CoS.

This coming from the lady that Scientology told to marry Michael Jackson so they could get his money. Bunch of freaks. Why should we stop protesting human rights abuses just because one of them is burying a kid that died from such abuses?

Damage control, #40? Try defending a friend from vultures like you.

“Jett was autistic and he lived most of his life with weekly seizures because of their so-called religion. He died because of it.”

YOU. DON’T. KNOW. THAT. FOR. SURE.

Decent human beings, #43. That’s who care.

That article sure fooled me with all those ‘…TMZ reports’ I saw.

Of course it was expected, #48. There are witch hunts in the middle of parents’ grieving and someone has to speak up about it. And does it matter if she was a Scientologist?

You’re trying to find conspiracies where none exist by imagining vague and quick investigations and procedures.

This atheist does, #51.

A boy dying is an obvious opportunity, #54?!!?!

If a non-Scientologist defended you judgmental vultures, they’d simply be defending a poor couple who lost their child. When a Scientologist does the same thing, they are ‘manipulating painful situations to their own profit and benefit.’

Your double standards disgust me.

How do you know any of that for sure, #56?

The Scientologists once tried to recruit Elvis, Fike says. He recalls that Elvis fumed: “The hell with those people. There’s no way I’ll ever get involved with that s.o.b. group. All they want is my money.”

If Elvis knew what his little girl was doing with his money he’d roll over in his grave!

Want to know what Lisa Marie went through in the cult? Ex-cult insiders tell all at http://www.lermanet.com/cos/lisamarie.html It’s worth a read. Then you’ll either feel sorry for Lisa, or wish her daddy was still alive to lay have a few words with her on her devotion to a cult.

“it is still an Unconstitutional Injustice to partake in and encourage such condemnation.”

ORLY? Amazing! When did little Lisa Marie get a degree in constitutional law?

I’m not sure she’s really up on her L. Ron Hubbard, either.

““Among most of the crazy made up garbage that goes around about it , It is not true that Scientologist’s ‘Don’t believe in’ medical care, medicine or medical Doctors and that may have something to do with this terrible tragedy. Just like anyone else, if one is sick, they go to the doctor, If a medication will make it better then they take it. ”

Yet Hubbard said, “Thats epilepsy. I dont care how they call it. Sometimes they really seize and sometimes its just slight. One of those, if an epileptic ever took you by the hand and so forth, hes liable to break every bone in your hand, if he suddenly had a seizure. But the doctors keep them on something to prevent this. Its just a tranquilizer and they keep them on that one year, year in and year out. And then you come along as an auditor and you try to audit the pc and you tell the pc that hell have to go off that drug. And then all of a sudden, why something will happen from someplace or another that the pc will tell the doctor that they have been taken off the drug by the auditor. And the doctor will call up plaintively asking you to please put her back on the drug because she needs this”

#56 can’t be 100% sure. It is fact that CoS was after Elvis’ money. Elvis is even quoted as saying as much. So after he dies his family turns to it getting his money.

Then there is a new king, a king of pop with a new generation of money. So what happens? The daughter of the King, now a convert tries to get a king. She became what her father hated. A person trying to lure people into a cult for money

It’s none of your goddamn business what this kid’s condition was… as far as we know, when he was younger he had Kawasaki, the Travoltas have not spoken about any other conditions nor denied nor even mentioned autism in public. I’m annoyed at the media who don’t have their facts straight. Obviously the Travolta’s felt it was the right thing to do to protect their kid’s privacy and also not go out and publicize something in an era where the media just likes salacious stories. It’s respectable how the Travolta’s have handling their sons passing with privacy and grace, that it has not become a spectacle like with Anna Nicole. Though I was a fan of Anna and I don’t mean to say nothing bad about that whole thing last year, but it seems to me like the Travolta family have been really good at keeping this whole thing decent, while the media tries to exploit this death. As for is all this bashing from the psychopathic haters … they said it, they did restort to meds for this kid, it lost it’s effectiveness…. now you jerks can leave off of them, but no you don’t want to, cause you want to start this big religious controversy. I’m surprised your assess are so eager to tear them to bits, spewing this anti-drug crap, but I don’t see your asses hammering the Christian Scientist- those guys don’t use medication whatsoever- now where are your websites hammering the christian scientist who only use prayer healing to cure illness- you guys wreak of attention whores- I guess conspiracy theories with the Travolta’s are more lucrative right?

I completely agree with her. I personally feel people should back off of scientology all together. If you don’t truly understand it then why are you commenting? As for John and Kelly Travolta they seem like very nice people, as well as Tom Cruse. So who cares in there beliefs?

There is nothing wrong about talking bad about $cientology. I’m sorry about Mr. Travolta’ s recent tragedy, but people can still air their intense dislike for a cult group started by a washed up Sci-fi wannabee author.

Oh stop being such a cult ;)

I have never read or heard anything about Scientology not believing in general medicine practiced by medical/surgical doctors, so that’s not even the issue here.

What is not recognized and often dismissed by Scientology is any disorder of a psychiatric nature. That includes, more infamously, anything like post-partum depression or, more importantly, any of the autistic spectrum disorders.

You’ll quickly see this “distinction” is neatly side-stepped in any defense of Scientology’s stance on modern medicine.

In other word, STFU lady. If we were all that ignorant, desperate, gullible and naive, we’d join the Church of Scientology.

So wait. CoS always wanted Elvis’ money. He said they were a cult. So he dies and JOHN TRAVOLTA gets his wife and baby girl into Scientology. She is raised as a Scientologist in Clearwater (dangerously), and now when Travolta is under fire, she defends him cause hes the guy that roped them into Scientology.

The King is truly rolling in his grave.

Yeah, sure, until he attacks you about criticizing a celeb he likes that you don’t.

**** her. People have the right to slam what ever they want. and when it comes to religion and especially Scientology it is fare game.

Maria diamond @ 01/06/2009 at 6:19 pm

My grandma used to say “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire”!!

Now, the scientoloonies are bombarding the net with all kinds of PR crap, threats to webmasters to “moderate” the post - in other words delete them - and expect us to believe that a science fiction writer who worded the phrase “if I want to get rich, I’ll start a religion” has indeed comeup with a religion which is the answer to everything. Riiiight!!!

Of course people can talk **** as much as they want, about whoever the **** they want, but does that mean it’s OK, especially in this situation? **** NO! Leave this family alone, they just lost a son, you piece of **** conspiracy theorist need to stop with the bullshit. It’s not their obligation to tell you what their son’s disorder is, it’s also likely that they understood that being Scientelogist and talking about autism would bring about controversy, so they probably decided it was best for them not to be spokespersons for autism. Or who knows… maybe because of the whole Tom Cruise controversy in 2005, maybe that whole incident ended up becoming a reason for them never talking about their son, because they understood that their personal choice of religion would allow the media to shift the attention to it, instead of the autism of the kid. But as I see it, they made the right choice by not invading their sons privacy, by feeding the media about him, after all, in this time, the media is so goddamn hungry for stories, they fabricate so much.

Scientology is NOT a religion! This is just a talking point that their PR people use to cover up the fact that:

- Scientology is BANNED in Greece

- Scientology is considered to be “against the constitution” in Germany, and is being watched by the government there.

- Scientology executives are on trial in France for FRAUD

- Scientology was convicted of FRAUD in Canada

- Scientology executives, including the wife of founder L Ron. Hubbard, were put on trial for stealing documents from the US government.

This is not some benign belief system. This is a racketeering cult that is being recognised as such in other countries around the world. No matter what the PR guys say, there’s a lot more going on here than just some sci-fi text!
