Zac Efron Voices Adult Swim’s “Robot Chicken”
Zac Efron sheds his goody-two-shoes image to voice the character of lounge singer “Billy Joel” in this new clip from Adult Swim’s animated series Robot Chicken.
In the show, the 21-year-old former High School Musical star beats a sailor over the head with a beer bottle, dumps his body in the ocean and manically laughs about it.
Zac even gets to belt out his own rendition of Billy Joel’s “The Piano Man”! But in the end… his character gets brutally (but amusingly) stabbed to death.

Zac’s done a voice over for a Disney show…does anyone remember the name of it. He does have a great speaking voice for this…and his singing is very good…I thought the clip was a bit shocking..but, that’s what Adult swim is about.

I actually love zac’s singing voice…he’s so good he can sing like justin timberlake as in bet on it and scream, sing musical theatre style as in hairspray and pop ballads in HSM 2 and 3… now I am seeing some nuances in his voice that shows he can do much more with it…and it seems that it has deepened too since hairspray…I actually think he ’s a wonderful singer and its not surprising that Simon Cowell saw that in him…

Frankly, I would be surprised (pleasantly) if Zac takes Vanessa to the Golden Globes. It’s working event for him. I mean, if he were nominated for an award, that would be different. In the past, he has taken her to events he wasn’t working, but was nominated–Palm Springs and MTV Movie awards. But who knows, he can always surprise us.

I agree Malia. When Zac has been a presenter he has either gone alone or had his brother Dylan with him. Vanessa is with him when he is up for an award or something he is associated with is being honored like Hairspray was last year in Palm Springs. There were two awards/events things last year that he was part of where Vanessa was not there and you’d thought he had committed some horrible crime. Sometimes their work situations will mean they will do things separately. People need to get that through their heads! You don’t even see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie ALWAYS together out and about in Hollywood at events, etc. Why do Zac and Vanessa have to be doing it?
Karen, the difference is that Zac and Vanessa have a LOT of fans who range in age from 6 to 13. And most of them are on the Internet, looking for pictures of Zac and Vanessa holding hands and kissing. And if Zac happens to be gassing up his car without Vanessa, or buying groceries without her, in these kids’ minds, that means they “broke up.” Then when they see them together again, that means they “made up.”
I’m curious why these young fans have such a warped concept of reality. Maybe it’s from watching too much TV. Maybe they’ve come to think of what they see on TV and in movies as the definition of real.
The Golden Globes is the one time we see a lot of couple and presenting is considered an honor. I’m always amazed at how the work excuse is always used for Zac.
Most folks bring their “others” to the Globe its a big movie event party. If he doesn’t bring Vanessa maybe he just doesn’t want to or he wants to be seen as being alone by someone or he doesn’t want to be seen as part of a couple. Who knows.
But we can’t make excuses for everything he does. And BTW Hayden is attending with Milo so there goes that theory.
Oh for heaven’s sake it’s only an award show as long as he doesn’t come with someone else what’s the big deal.

sounds to me like you are not a fan of either zac or vanessa and are trying to create some discord among the fans who have followed zac for a long time and know he has never taken vanessa to an even where he is a presenter.

Most of the world and Hollywood knows that Zac and Vanessa are a couple. If they are there together or they are not it will not change that fact. Heck, Julia Roberts and Benjamin Bratt came together to an Oscar event (and Julia won that year) and it was later reported how they had already broken up. Being together at this event doesn’t prove ANYTHING—only in YOUR mind. Just because you believe it should be a certain way doesn’t make it a law. They are everywhere together so I believe the cat’s out of the bag so it would be useless for Zac not to want to be seen as part of a couple. She’s been with him on movie sets and his premieres so I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t want to “take” her somewhere. All of your theories are crazy.
To me, you sound like you are wanting to throw all this stuff out there in hopes that some Zac or Vanessa people will see it and tell them they MUST go together or fans will fear they are not together or it wouldn’t look good on their part in some way so your desire to see them together will be fulfilled. You have some strange expectations. Sorry, you can not demand and get what you want. it doesn’t work that way.
Maybe they will come together BUT what their fans are trying to say is it has not been a rule in the past that they come together when one or the other is just a presenter. Vanessa has been involved in things just recently where Zac didn’t come with her. Being a couple but both having individual careers it is sometimes important for them to be seen as individuals. Zac went alone to the GQ event and he was one of the honorees. She went alone to the Enviromental event…None of those things meant there was something wrong. We would like to contain the RUMORS before they begin and spread some reason. But people like you, desiree, are the ones who really like some kind of drama.
I would like to point out to those who are almost begging that For Real come out and impart his/her words of wisdom: do you ever think about the fact when you do that it might mean someone who is not For Real will show up and say something just to shut everyone up? We have no way of knowing if this poster is on the up and up to begin with (I think they are) but if you continue to treat them like they are some sort of “god” there is a really good chance some person posing as For Real will show up as they will not be able to resist having people believe everything they say. I don’t believe the last comment that supposedly came from For Real was the real person. So before long you’ll be getting comments from so many who claim to be For Real that you will have ruined what this person gives us on their own terms. Don’t any of you think it would be rather suspicious if suddenly he/she shows up when someone starts yelling “Where is For Real, the voice of reason”? This person isn’t a genii or your fairy godperson. Let this person if they are legit post when they feel like it and then take those posts with a with some caution.

However, I don’t think Peggy was meaning it to be sarcastic as I also read this same post by her on a couple other threads like the Zac and Vanessa Hit Up Barney’s which is an old thread and the date on it was the same as here. So, it would seem she was posting that on several threads in hopes For Real would see it.
Hopefully that explanation was not done in such a way that you felt overly educated by it. It seems that is how we run into trouble on these boards—some people refuse to learn from facts and figures many of us have acquired over the past year and a half about these two or maybe we wouldn’t have to constantly shoot down rumors that repeat themselves. People seem to like being ignorant.

Thank you Peggy. I didn’t want you to be offended and debated about saying anything. But I am like you wondering why everyone is so intent—the supposed Zac and Vanessa fans—in always wanting to find some little thing that says they are having problems or they have broken up, etc. And someone like For Real is nice to have around but there is no guarantee she/he is on the level or not. The real For Real may be but to invoke the name of For Real as if it is magic I’m afraid some of these people are going to be “had” at some point because there are those who like to pose as other posters. I think I will just give it up as some people resent having anybody try to explain something to them even if it is true or at least reasonable. Some people like drama.
BTW, this could also be attached to my last post. One of the things I like about this video of Robot Chicken—-and I admit it is not to my taste but I understand young people get a kick out of what they feel is “cutting edge” stuff—is how Zac is basically poking fun at himself AND some of his fans. When he starts singing about how he is a piano god and more or less how everyone worships him and he can’t possibly stop doing what he is doing or people would blow their brains out or when he is making fun of people willing to get down on their knees to suck up to him(that is saying it in a nicer way then what he was singing about) but to me it shows how he really has a handle on what is going on around him. He seems to be keeping a down to earth attitude.
People are so scared over every little thing when it comes to “Zanessa”. That is why they need continual reassurance they are together because some people are so wrapped up in it that they don’t have a life of their own and act like they will “blow their brains out all over the floor” if something goes wrong between them. Then there are those sycophants (look the word up it will be your new word to learn for the day, some more education) who are willing to lick anything of his he might want just to try to get on his good side and get something from him. Although as I said this kind of stuff is not to my liking it really does say a lot about his life right now.

yes, that pic was taken recently in ikea. they sell furnitures- like do it yourself. probably late dec 2008 because of van’s hairdo. well she is busy remodelling her home hence the furniture shopping..

I believe the picture is from the very end of December. And even though I have never been to an IKEA furniture store it is suppose to have everything to furnish a house and it is not some high-end priced store. You can look up IKEA furniture on the internet and get info on it as they have a website.
About the wedding–Seatle and LA by plane is really fast. And as I saw on another board someone said if the wedding is on Saturday then getting back in time for a Sundsay night gig would be easy.
Actually if the wedding was in the afternoon on Saturday you could fly back the same night.
That’s if you fly commercial there are also private planes.
I haven’t read any confirmation that Vanessa is a bridesmaid just speculation.

To guarantee that privacy, Zac and Vanessa go so far as to each take separate cars and meet at a friend’s house. From there they switch to one car and drive over 30 miles to have a normal evening out together. Simply to avoid the paparazzi shots that many of you beg for. It is not their desire to have their relationship speculated about in tabloid newspapers, on television entertainment shows or self-indulgent Internet sites.
They spend ninety nine percent of their time together when they are not working. But what they do in that free time is between them. It is not your or anyone else’s place to worry about their relationship or to dictate what they do and where they go.
That is strictly up to them.
Their relationship is on VERY solid ground.
But, I fear that you children who spend so much time worrying about someone else’s relationship do so because you lack meaning in your own lives.
If it romance you desire, there are many books—romance novels, I believe they are called—that you can read rather than throw yourselves head first into Zac and Vanessa’s personal lives.

Peggy, thanks for your encouragement!! The wedding is in August, but my daughter lives in FL with her fiance, and I’m in Boston! It adds a little factor of difficulty!! But it’s all good. We have the date, the place, the photographer, florist, bakery, and DJ. So, I’d say we’re doing pretty well.

desiree, there is no reason to worry about Zac going to the GG’s alone, if that’s what they decide to do. They are very careful about not wanting a lot of exposure together, and the Japan premiere is coming, which means a lot of new pictures. They are very savvy with the media and paps, as For Real as pointed out. Remember, Zac and Vanessa both go to events alone at times; that is a normal thing for all couples!! No worries.

I certainly hope for many more non-HSM red carpet events!! Those pics are the only ones I feel happy looking at, since they’re ok with public appearances. I always feel a twinge of sadness for them with pap pics.
#144, I totally agree with you. People can like Zac and Vanessa, as I do, but they(Zac and Vanessa) do have their lives to live and people need to accept that. But some people I think because they like them so much and care about them so much, worry when something doesn’t seem right in their relationship. But we all need to let them be.

I’m not the least bit concerned about who goes to the GG I just remembered that people who are involved in precelebration activities are usually invited but they don’t have to attend. I don’t think (after 10 years of marriage myself) that any couple have to be together all the time.

I find the privacy answer isn’t a everything answer. I don’t expect to be privy to the private relationship I don’t want people in mine but I admit if they don’t attend the awards tomorrow I’ll wonder.
Brad Pitt protects the privacy of his relationship but he’s not tripping over being seen with Angelina whether he’s at a place to present or stand around that is his woman and he doesn’t care who knows it. desiree, no need to wonder if he doesn’t take Vanessa. Both Zac and V do a good job of keeping professional obligations separate from their personal relationship. They have both attended awards events alone. As a matter of fact, the Palm Springs Festival last year surprised us all when he took Vanessa, because he had been doing all the Hairspray events alone.
I think, until they are a committed couple, like engaged or married, we will not see him bringing her to his professional appearances. But, hey, there are always surprises…….

He’s great, and the best part for me is, he’s a perfect fit for her, personality-wise, and he adores her. They met the first day of college, and now they’re 24, so they’re excited to move on to the next part of life for them!!

Don’t you recall the other public events when they did just that? Van said she is proud of her man (Palm Springs 2007); and Van clapping for Zac when her won the Breakthrough Role in HS. There are pics of Zac showing off his popcorn award to Van and she was very proud.
In this event, Zac is just presenting; he is not even nominated. I will very bad if he was nominated and she was not there. There is a difference. But I understand where you are coming from - you just want them to publicly show off their relationship because you are a Zan fan.
desiree, I’m not really disagreeing with you. Yes, after 3 years, a guy should have no problem showing the world he’s proud of his woman. But Zac, as much as he wants to be, is not living in a “normal”world. He is trying to be very protective of his relationship, and that means not parading it around, and opening it up for public scrutiny.
This IS a professional obligation, even though it’s 30 seconds long. They are both trying to establish their individual careers, and do not want to be known for JUST being a couple. So think about it…..what happens when he brings Vanessa? The photographers focus on THEM, the reporters focus on THEM, and THAT’S what they don’t want. Since this IS a Zac committment, he will probably do this one alone.
Like I said though, they do love to throw us surprises!! So I know you’re hoping….secretly, I’m hoping too!!

I think a lot of people forget that Zac is only 21, and V 20. All the 21 year olds I know go out get drunk, have fun, date different people every week and are just generally care free. So in that sense, Zac is very mature for his age, he cares about his privacy, especially where Vanessa is concerned. He is just a guy though, he is not perfect, so don’t expect him to be. He is not Brad pitt either, a lot of people put the presures of an older guy onto his shoulders. Yes, 3 years is a very long time for a couple so young these days, especially in Hollywood, I can’t even think of another couple like ZV, he is obviously comitted to her and she him. If he doesn’t take her tonight, it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t love her, thats such a utterly stupid thing to say. For Real is right, the reason they keep their relationship so private is because of all the fan’s/haters pouring over every pic, every video, every facial expression, and thats got to be tough, so speculation is only going to serve to make that worse. It’s not our place to judge them.
And please, if he doesn’t show up with V tonight, don’t make a big deal of it. It is a work event for Zac. It’s a chance for him to mingle with the big stars, perhaps not be HSM boy for the night (so hoping he gets introduced as something pertaining to 17 or MAOW). He loves V, and yes he has turned up to events with her before. But Go Sox is right, this is work and if he shows up with V, it will be all about them as a couple. I’m not saying he minds that, but his agency/management might. I do have a feeling however that he will take her, there was even an article that said he would. We will have to wait and see though.

I don’t understand why everyone is so ready to make a big deal out of something and try to find a problem. To me, like For Real. that makes me wonder if there is something missing in your life. Nobody knows what will take place for these two by the end of this year. I don’t know what my life will be like at the end of this year and none of you do about your own life. So saying that, I’m asking you worriers and doubters: What are you going to do if they would move on to someone else? I don’t see any indication of that happening but if you are going to read all this stuff into their relationship just if they don’t go to this together I think it would be good for you guys to start focusing on something else. So, you see, it doesn’t really matter whether Vanessa is there or not. The insecure fans who are so focused on the relationship will find problems. Because they are LOOKING for problems.
It seems as though the fans who don’t have a relationship of their own (or have been in a bad one where the guy/girl cheated on them or didn’t really care for them) are going to make Zac and Vanessa’s relationship theirs and make it work the way THEY want it to.
I say we let Zac and Vanessa do things the way they want. After all, it is THEIR RELATIONSHIP.
When I read an article about the Golden Globe today, it did say this:

so I would say that there is a big chance that Vanessa is going to be there, which I hope, I always love what she wears and it’s always very well chosen for the event in question, and I’m curies about what she would wear to a big award gala like that. It was a bit funny that they were writen as the first couple in a list with several known once, such as “Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Sasha Baron Cohen (will he come as flamboyant fashion journalist Bruno, his character in an upcoming movie?) and Isla Fisher, Robert and Susan Downey, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Kate and husband, Best Director nominee Sam Mendes, Pierce and Keely Brosnan, James Franco and Ahna O’Reilly, Dustin and Lisa Hoffman, Emma Thompson and Greg Wise, Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller, Sean and Robin Wright Penn, Laura Dern and musician Ben Harper, Steve Carell and Nancy Walls.” But we’ll see, I just thought that I should mention it when I saw it.

I agree with you, Peggy. I thought mentioning Vanessa ethnicity was weird. They didn’t say “Vanessa’s white boyfriend who has a Jewish heriage” blah, blah, blah… When someone writes about Obama they don’t point out he has a white mother and black father…nor do they do that with Halle Berry. It makes people sound stupid when they do say such things.
I forgot to mention that I understand people from the Philippines are proud of Vanessa’s heritage but as stated before we know that sometimes these things get mentioned from some sites and people who are racists and are not meaning it to be a compliment. I know it depends on who is writing it and how it is written but it would be nice if someone could just be a person and not classified as black, brown, white, yellow, red, etc. If people are so interested in their origins and backgrounds then let them look it up in a biography or simply ask the question.

All I will reiterate from what they said are:
-the reason Zac and Vanessa’s relationship stand out, amongst all the variety offered in hollywood, is that they show such maturity and level-headedness in the way they strive to keep it private, strive to strike the right balance of PDA and strive to respect, love and support each other and enjoy their relationship without allowing it to be turned into a circus by fans and media alike. That’s what makes them unique and I don’t know why anyone would want that to change.
-This is still THEIR relationship. NOBODY ELSE is participating in it with them. You can admire it and support it but at the end of the day, it is THEIRS and they’ll do the heck whatever THEY want to do. Nobody is paying them to be in a relationship and they owe nobody anything.
If they decide never to appear publicly together, it is their business and it does not affect anybody’s life. Their private life is THEIR private life. Vanessa is the only judge of how good a boyfriend Zac is because it is HER criteria that is being met, no one else’s and vice versa.
At any time, anyone feels they are no longer ‘meeting their expectations’, please feel free to abandon them and find another couple in hollywood who behaves exactly the way you like and support those. It’s that simple and you would be doing ZV and us a favor.
We keep going over this time and time again that it is becoming irritating. Even teenagers know that a couple cannot be joined at the hip 24/7 and how they choose to attend events is their business. Anybody that doesn’t get it by now, will never get it and shouls move on from ZV.
In fact, I’m becoming very suspicious of the motive behind this ‘concern’ for Vanessa. Whenever we see pics of her she gives off the vibe of a woman loved and secure in her relationship.
So what is at the root of this apparent ‘concern’?!!!

and to address the issue of the Phil. newspaper since i share van’s heritage, the writers in the phils would always point that out for any star with Filipino heritage who is well known internationally. it is not meant to be a racist remark but since that newspaper is for filipinos, it is said in pride, like the writer wants to highlight van’s filipino heritage. its like saying she is one of us when in actually of course, Van is a cali gal.
