Anne Hathaway to Obama: Why Rick Warren?
On Tuesday, Anne Hathaway was interviewed on the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.
E! asked what she expected of President-elect Barack Obama in the New Year.
Said Anne, who has a gay brother, “I expect him to explain that choice of [Orange County mega-pastor] Rick Warren [to give the inauguration prayer]. I don’t get it. All my friends and I were trying to figure it out, but we just can’t. So I’d love that. Other than that, I expect nothing but the best.”

Obama is trying to please the conservatives and he gained a few points with me. Rick Warren is a pastor and has stated that he is not a homophobe and that he likes them as people; he just teaches the Bible and it says that the act of homosexuality is a sin. By the way, Obama is also having a pastor who is for gay marriage at the inauguration too but you don’t hear anything in the media about this.
It appears that Obama is playing both sides of the fence. Someone said here on JJ earlier that Obama is trying to please everyone and I agree. He will soon find out that it is impossible, but I give him credit for trying.
Everything happens for a purpose. Some things we just don’t understand. You know what I mean.
I love how sensetive people get on this site (and how many republicans, YIKES) visit it, oh well. Anne is as confused as most of us about the choice & of course she would like an explanation (not literally). Although, the point has been made of why Obama selected ‘idiot’ Rick, the real reasons are not out although they most likely have to do with politics & positioning. Rick Warren was Obama’s first HUGE mistake (the guy preaches about God, well God is love & not hate & there is a lot of things the bible says to do/not do & we presently do otherwise), oh well, as Anne ALSO mentioned, we’re all sure our future Pres. will do great things. Otherwise, GO ANNE!

Obama owes an explanation- it’s called “accountability”.
He is becoming some sort of an Angelina Jolie who uses the media to have his picture taken shirtless, and make sure they cover his family life as a distraction from his choices.
Anne is right.
I think actors should stick to acting, Im pretty sure anne hasn’t researched rick warrens views on homoesexuality. it seems to me that many people who have a problem with this whole thing are being just ignorant as they claim evangelicals are. get over it america, you wanted obama so deal with the choices that he makes.

Obama ran on “i am against gay marriage”. Joe Biden repeated “I am against gay marriage” when debating Sarah Palin. What don’t you understand???ENGLISH?!!!!!!???
She’s been pretty open about her brother being gay, so she’s probably more sensitive to and about Warren’s comments against gay marriage than the average person. Personally, I’m in agreement with #22. Well said. And Warren isn’t nearly as homophobic as some of those guys.
Maybe she should have been this “aware” when her boyfriend was spending all that money on her… May be if she had asked… “Where does the money come from”.. President Elect Obama does not owe her any answers to her questions.. I hate it when a celeb get a little notoriety and they think the world cares about what they think.. Anne just act… I think she is talented but not that pretty… I am getting tired of her. I will watch her on the screen, but I don’t want to her her talk any more.

That being said, I am not an Evangelical. I just think its important to note that Obama won over 60 million votes. Those votes come from people of many many backgrounds.

These stars so often amaze me, they cut their nose off despite their face. She attests to Rick Warren who opposes gay marriage so she will be wearing a “black ribbon” to protest since the issue of gay marriage hits close to home (I.e. her gay brother).
Though, Miss Hathaway voted for Barak Obama who DOES NOT SUPPORT gay marriage but will attend the inauguration.
News flash Ann Hathaway……..People that are also non religious also do not support gay marriage. Hmmm, had she known Barak Obama did not support gay marriage, would she have voted for him? I’m mean after all, it hits so close to home.
Why is anyone surprised at Rick Warrens stance on gays. He is a Christian and preaches the bible which clearly states its wrong, what else can he say and stick with his beliefs as a pastor
Why boycott Rick Warren? He is not in any position to legalize gay marriage. That just goes to show how ignorant and arrogant Anne is.
