OlderCarrie Underwood is Your Favorite Female Singer
Carrie Underwood opens the show and sings “I Know You Won’t” during the 2009 Annual People’s Choice Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Wednesday (January 7) in Los Angeles.
The 25-year old singer wore three dresses: a strapless gown (Naeem Khan), a neon green dress, and a neon orange dress (Jenny Packham). Carrie walked away with three awards: Favorite Country Song (”Last Name”), Favorite Star Under 35, and Favorite Female Singer.
Tony Greco, a fitness trainer and close friend of Fisher’s, said the rumors of her and hockey player Mike Fisher are absolutely true. “I think it’s serious, I mean he’s really happy with her. They’re a perfect match,” Greco told the Ottawa Citizen.

I watched the show last night until very early on they got to this “award.” Then I was sure this was total BS and turned it off. Carrie Underwood?!? Who in the world believes that?
She’s not my favorite singer but whatever, I guess a lot of people like her.

I’m sorry but she is not a better singer than Alicia keys and Rihanna. I think she got more than she deserved. The same thing happened at the Grammy last year, i don’t know what it it people seem to think she is a great singer.

I think she’s more cute than pretty. It’s all the makeup artists and hair stylists and hair extensions that are starting to make her look plastic. She looked better before they all overprocessed her looks. Now, she looks like she has had plastic surgery even though she probably has not.

She’s an okay singer….not the best, but definitely NOT the worst. I’m surprised that she continues to win award after award after award because I think there are plenty of equally talented singers out there…Faith Hill is better, IMO…Sara Evans is as good….Martina McBride is as good if not better. Maybe it’s because she appeals to a younger age group like Taylor Swift?

What amazing vocals. She deserves to win. I am not a fan of country music, but I know great vocals when I hear them and Carrie has superior vocals to the other nominees. I appreciate the fact that she does not appear half naked to get people to listen to her.

I thought the song Carrie sang was horrrrrrrrrrrible. What is up with the shouting she kept doing and talk about being repetitious. Of all the hits Carrie has, she chose this one? Why?
Who is her make-up artist and why do they insist on giving Christina Aguilera competition on how many layers of cake makeup can we put on her face? Carrie is a barbie doll. She looks so plastic now a days and nothing like the girl that came out of idol.

I am not a fan of Carrie’s. Have seen her twice but only because she was opening for Keith Urban and I am a huge fan of his. IMO, she does have a great voice (except for when she is yelling to be louder) but she is NOT an entertainer at all. (I know that she did not get an award for that. Just stating a fact) She is stiff and looks like a chicken strutting around when she walks in 4 inch heels. She needs to watch her own performances and learn from them. How can she think that flailing her arms back and forth and that strut look good? I do think that songwriters are “throwing” their songs at her because she IS so popular right now and has a huge following.

If you don’t like Carrie’s music, fine, that’s your opinion, but to sit there and say she is a horrible singer is ludicrous.
That was a simply spectacular performance. Whether you like the song or not.

I acknowledge Carrie can sing, but thats not what she did last night. That was a full blown on shout, a repetitive one at that.
Also, I think Carrie is better than Rihanna, but Alicia Keys? Not only is Alicia more beautiful, but she writes the better hit songs, and of course Alicia leaves her in the dust when he comes to stage presence/peformance.

I’m on board with the people who are sick of her. She was ok when she first got here, but now she’s just plain annoying. The wardrobe, hair, makeup, smile, and full orchestra performance was pretentious. The song is mediocre at best, and same for her stage presence She gets all the awards whether she deserves them or not and that really is angering.

Carrie is one of the best performers out there right now. Some of you may not like her..but she sure got your attention didn’t she? You’re on here talking about her! Those who say she was shouting obviously do not have experience with singing. In order to get big notes out with the amount of power that is needed to make them sound good, you have to be louder, but shouting a note and singing it powerfully are two different things and have to different sounds. That was NOT yelling.

Carrie doesn’t need to have dancers and props and big flashing lights and all those other crap that so many artists have today.. Sure it’s entertaining and they’re putting on a performance.. but the song carrie sang tonight didn’t need any of that.. her just standing there was enough to draw you in and it was enough for her to give an emotional great performance. Those that say that you need all those things on stage in order to make a great performance is ridiculous … The best performers in my opinion are the ones that can just sing beautifully without all the distractions.

#39 I completely agree. A great performer shouldn’t need all those other distractions, and Carrie doesn’t. It’s nice to have on some songs, like maybe her performance of Before He Cheats at last year’s grammy’s, but for a song like this she doesn’t need anything extra. Her voice sells the song all on it’s own.

I’m a huge Alicia Keys fan! She is an outstanding R&B singer. I’m also a huge Carrie Underwood fan! She is an amazing country singer. Two different singers with amazing voices. Carrie sings awesome live. Everyone can’t sing live. Leave Carrie alone, she always delivers and she deserves her awards.

Carrie is one of the top vocalists in all of the US and Canada. She wins these awards because she deserves them and she is so wonderful to her fans. She has it all and it makes some people so jealous because she has been called close to perfect and yeah she is. Other awards that aren’t fan voted are voted on by INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS and even they think Carrie is deserving and an award winner. So stop your whining. She will be around a long while so get over it. She wins fashion and beauty awards too so even THOSE PROFESSIONALS agree with her fans. When Carrie was Co-headling with Keith Urban it was her first tour ever.
The Fall leg on her single headling tour with Little Big Town warming up was by far much better because she had experience under her belt. You could see how she had grown in stage presence because she learned alot from Keith and she needed time to work the kinks out. It was amazing how far she went in those six months.
Carrie writes her own music as well as buying songs. She plays electric and acoustic guitar and piano. She is very talented. Don’t be suprised if she does a piano ballad like Keith on the next tour.

Best performance ever? From the video, she’s singing off key, screaming, moving very awkwardly and her dress looks like an old prom dress cast off complete with goofy green earrings. Her getting any award is an insult to Keyes and all legitimate performers. A few of her idol fans must spend their day casting 100s of votes. There’s no other excuse for that mess winning any award.
