Jennifer Aniston keeps close to pal David Arquette at the Feeding America cocktail party on Friday (January 9) in Los Angeles.
Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization, helped Shepard Fairey (pictured below) unveil his original artwork created to raise awareness about hunger in America. The event was hosted by Dan Glickman, President and CEO of MPAA and Arquette at the home of Eric Kranzler (partner in Management 360).
Jen and David were joined by David’s wife Courteney Cox, their BFF Sheryl Crow, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Leonardo Dicaprio and girlfriend Bar Rafaeli, Julia Louis Dreyfus and husband Brad Hall, Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer, Josh Groban, Amanda Peet and husband David Benioff, Nick Lachey and girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, Kevin Connelly, Lukas Haas, Jason Bateman, Michael Chicklis and Jimmy Jean Louis.

It is not a requirement of any celebrity to give to charities or to donate their time.
It’s fantastic that Arquette, Aniston, DiCaprio, Maguire, and all the others who showed up for this event did so. All of the attendees attract a lot of attention and that kind of press coverage is a miracle come true for a charity that is not mainstream like this one.
Regardless of their motivation for doing charity work, these stars are helping to work miracles by bringing attention to other people who need help. It’s nice to see positive things happen in this country. Keep it up!

Melinda Gates foundations gives billions of dollars as does Warren Buffet. But I really don’t know how many billions they give they do not announce it..
Wrong! I heard Melinda Gates herself saying on TV, in a program about Bill and his new job (working with his wife), how much they have given to their foundation, and I’ve read about Warren Buffet announcing how much he is giving to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.
Its great Brad & Angie can make that kind of money off there children to donate it doesn’t bother me in the least..

Many people donate regularly and it’s a good example for others to follow, but they have to know about it. It doesn’t matter to me when people want to donate quietly or announce it. The important thing is they give.
I remember reading about a successful German sportstar. He send a very large donation (I forget how many million euros) to I forget which organization, and asked his PA to announce it.
Within a short time they raised many times what he donated because people admire him and wanted to donate, just like the one they admire. I guess he knew people would follow.

It is wrong to keep reminding the beneficiaries what you give but it isn’t wrong for the beneficiaries to remember and tell others what the benefactors gave. In the case of public charities, any one with brain larger than a pea knows that public awareness is what these charities’ need to get more donations for their causes, hence they organize charity balls, gala, parties, concerts, TV shows, marathons, etc. Jerrey Lewis’ Labor Day marathon, Live Aid concerts are a few to call forth in mind. Also the very event that is the subject of this thread should be considered. Aren’t the attendants of this very event publicize their donation by attending? Or are you going to say “No, they are just there to see friends, have fun or…”?

Do yourself a favor, if you are going to attach the other side, stick to beauty and the past. You have no warranty of winning in these departments but at the very least you could claim subjectivity.

News are reporting about the poor, the displaced, refugees 24/7. Don’t these celebs read or watch the news if they don’t have “first hand knowledge”? And what about the governments of these children’s countries, why not call them out? And what about you, do you have second hand knowledge (via the media perhaps) or first? Which ever hand your knowledge is, it’s enough to rouse your concern obviously. The question then is what have you done? How many houses have you built? How many meals have you fed these poor children? How much money have you given them?
