Gerard Butler - Golden Globes 2009
Clean-shaven Gerard Butler hits the red carpet in a tux at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 11) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The 39-year-old Scottish stud introduced the film clip for In Bruges, one of the contenders for “Best Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy”. Unfortunately, the film lost out to the Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Scarlett Johansson).
WHAT DO YOU THINK of Gerry’s freshly clean-shaven face — HOT or NOT?

Gerard Butler was THE classiest and most handsome man in the joint last night. The measly few moments he had on stage was electrifying. He deserved more time - heck, he should have been the HOST, dagnabit. When is Hollywood going to offer him some BIG BOX OFFICE opportunities like he deserves?
BTW: Gerry doesn’t have A girlfriend. He has many women who are friends. He was serious because he wanted to get his few moments on stage right! He didn’t have enough time to warm up and be himself, for crying out loud. Cut the man some slack.
The whole format of the Golden Globes is ridiculous and trite. The entire room was chaotic and disrespectful to one another. It is a see and be seen event which is all about the clothes and the glitz, not substance. I don’t think Gerard was singled out - none of the clips presenters were given undivided attention.
Gerard looked impressively elegant - the man dazzles in scruff or a tux.
He kinda looked like a corpse with the makeup on though. The man can definitely wear a suit well. Love the long legs!
I don’t care if he’s straight outta bed .. the man can do no wrong in my eyes. And that’s for looks and actions!
Some comments: yes, he was THE BIG MOVIE STAR in terms of handsomeness, class. and charisma. He took my breath away, literally…I let ou a huge gasp!!
About mentioning “The Ugly Truth” …the Golden Globes is used to PROMOTE upcoming or currently showing films. It’s like a free advertisement. And note: no other star was announced with an adjective attached to him/her. The announcer stated “HANDSOME”..and that he was!
Also…during all the presentations, except, perhaps for Spielberg and the nod to Ledger…people talked, drank, etc. Thye weren’t snubbing Gerry. They ignored everyone because they were probably drunk.
Wasn’t he dressed perfectly? He got on the list of sexiest stars at the Golden Globes, coming in at number 5.(He should have been number 1)
Thanks you, Jared! You’ve come through again!
Keep these pictures of handsome Gerry Butler a ‘coming!
Gerry was the great moment of the night…
I love him!!!
Not handsome. Nice suit. Well dressed. Well behaved. Looked like a star should. But he’s not handsome. If he passed me on the street, he’d look like any other middle aged guy.
#58 - enlighten us - who is handsome in Hollywood these days, since this guy isn’t?
When Gerry walked on stage I about fell off my chair. He was good.
he looked nervous…sweaty.
but he did the best he could under the quick circumstances..then got the hell of that stage.
#57 needs to have the old glasses adjusted. Gerry was by far the most handsome man at the awards ceremony IMHO; second, Simon Baker. But Gerry’s height helps to set him apart from the majority of the other celebs and makes him look especially studly in a tux. Those long legs …
pafan..I totally agree…his height does set him apart..He looked stunning..and handsome
I agree with #61. Gerry was definitely the most handsome man there. But for pure sex appeal, I like his scruff and casual look.
HOT! HOT! HOT!
I’m glad I’m seeing more good than bad on this post! What sets him apart from the others is that he seems real…none of us would never know for sure unless we met him..but, he seems like the real deal. He’s himself, and doesn’t give into the hollywood persona of who he should be. A man should not primp up more than a woman in my eyes..that would make him less of a man, to me anyways. Men are supposed to have scruff, etc. I don’t care if he’s in front of the camera’s or millions of people are watching him or whatever. He should be himself, and he does it in whatever circumstance he’s in. And again…his eyes make me melt! He can have all the man hair or makeup on his face that he likes…his eyes are beautiful! Don’t get me started on his body…it just screams “unga, I am man”. lol…He did seem a little uncomfortable presenting though. Must be alot of pressure, he may not have been feeling it. I couldn’t imagine being his shoes, but, I’d rub his feet better for him anytime!
Chemically altering your face w/injections does not seam very real…but that’s just me. I love him too, but he needs to know we don’t expect Hollywood type behavior from him. Get a grip Gerry.
ok, so who was in the office with him when he was receiving these “injections”? You dunno unless you see it for yourself!
Cary Grant, please move over. You’re replacement has finally come.
All the times HOOOOOOOOT!!!!!
who the hell cares whether he shaved, hasn’t got a girlfriend, is with his manager….lets make some decent movies Gerard. He needs to play an evil ******* for achange. Stop this chic flicks. Gerad almost made it with Rock n Rolla.
Gets better looking everyday!!!
#67: You can clearly see it for yourself if you actually look at the pictures instead of closing your eyes in denial. No make up could ever cover these deep lines he had in the Nim’s premiere pictures for example. Now they are all smooth or even gone. The evidence is right out there. He is full of Botox. The actually sad thing about this is that it will severely affect his acting perfomance in LAC just as it did in PSILY. He couldn’t even frown anymore back then. That was just painful to watch. He’s turning into the male Nicole Kidman.
Hate to validate your critique “NO” but I think you’ve spilled it right out here in the good old JJ threads. This Botox issue is not meant as any form of disrespect toward this guy, but it is a legitimate criticism. If you think about it, saying he doesn’t need to do Botox is extremely flattering and he should recognize that. All the charming character and age lines he has earned in his 39 years are just fine with me - and ALL of my friends who are fans of Gerry. I wish him every success in his endeavors as an actor and not as a Hollywood pretty boy which he is not. Move back to NYC or London Gerry - get out while you still can.
#71 & 72 - IMO he looked very handsome at the PSYLY premier…..lines and all. I wish Gerry would stop coloring his hair. The gray is very flattering for him.
Nicole Kidman denies having botox - LOL!
It’s damn if you don’t and damn if you do….He’s either critizied if he’s botoxed and critized if he has wrinkles…He can’t win and people will always find something….I’m sure if we went to an event like that one we’d want to look our very best…All this talk about this or that..bottom line is Gerry looked awesome…Hollyweird, unfortunately, is about staying “young”..It’s all about youth…Some actors can get away with it once they have a name…It’s a PR vehicle…and most of them were botoxed…Did anyone see the room?…
Yes zzzzzz I think you have a point with the damn if you or don’t angle. As a loyal and long term fan I have to point out that all of my fan friends are in the DON’T category. with those of us who really love the talented and handsome Scottish Actor - we say DON’T. For us, the youth angle and the Hollywood Prettyness stuff is just not part of the equation in our admiration of Gerard.
I agree with your bottom line - he does look awesome. But he would look just as awesome and a bit more genuine w/o the chemicals. The thing that can’t be denies with that stuff is - it can affect your ability to act…. maybe THAT is the real bottom line.
I appreciate the thoughtful imput in these Botox posts - thanks for this JJ.
