OlderPrince Harry Apologizes For ‘Racist’ Remark
Prince Harry apologized on Saturday after UK’s News of the World published video footage showing him calling one soldier a “Paki” (derogatory slang for an immigrant or descendant of an immigrant from Pakistan).
A spokesman for Britain’s royal family said, “Prince Harry fully understands how offensive this term (Paki) can be, and is extremely sorry for any offense his words might cause. However, on this occasion three years ago, Prince Harry used the term without any malice and as a nickname about a highly popular member of his platoon. There is no question that Prince Harry was in any way seeking to insult his friend.”
Harry is also heard saying, “F— me, you look like a raghead.”
A spokesperson said in response, “Prince Harry used the term ‘raghead’ to mean Taliban or Iraqi insurgent.”

live and let live, i think thats up to britain dont you? they are really good heads of state despite what has been said, they hardly ever get a foot wrong and are often only in the papers if something wrong has happend, other countries do not see what good they do, take a look on the internet about what the princes trust does…. this is really serious i agree but the uk and america even though we speak the same language we come from very different cultures…in britain we take the piss and call eachother what is scene as derogatory names but dont mean it that way, black people call white ‘milks’ vice versa, im not condoning what he said at all because it can be seen as a piss take remark but this is one of his m8s he called it and not in a bad way…you can bet your **** that it wasnt his m8 who let this slip, prob some twat who wanted the money….this was about 6 years ago, hes grown up…how about you concentrate on all the really brilliant things he has done….he’s a prince but he is also human…get over it.

I wish there mom was still alive, I think if she was still alive they would be much better people because she was a great person. I doubt there father or other family really cares about people like she did, and I know she kept them grounded without her they grew up to be this. Prince Will is not so bad but he was 15, she has already taught him alot but Harry was younger and I bet there is still alot of anger and lost when it comes to her life and death. Poor kid

I assure you, when I see someone driving poorly I avoid them… is that racist or is that being caution? I am proud of “western” cultures that have allowed gays to get married… because it’s fair and equal!!!!! Harry used words… not bombs. Canada wasn’t involved in 9/11, but we allowed American and international planes to land in our country. We’ve lost 117 soldiers because of the war in Afghanistan.(And lots of those terrorist are coming from Pakistan) I don’t need anyone telling me that I’m racist or Prince Harry is racist. If you don’t like the benefits of western cultures MOVE BACK TO THOSE THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES!

I don’t think Harry was intending to be racist or insulting when he used the word ‘****’ - Sometimes people adopt a nickname for themselves which is traditionally insulting (like ‘nigga’ or ‘wog’) as it takes the sting out of the word and renders it ineffective.
However, there is no excuse in his second racial slur as I do think that was mean’t to be (and is) offensive towards middle eastern people.
@Anita Greencard - what exactly does using racist terms have to do with being cautious? Those terms are offensive to a whole group of people, that vast majority of whom had nothing to do with the killing of innocent people in terrorist attacks (just as most westerners have nothing to do with the killing of innocents in Iraq). A persons nation of origin does not determine their humanitarian values. I was outraged by 9/11 and subsequent terrorist attacks just as I’m outraged about the killing of innocent civilians in Iraq - fact is, getting angry at each other isn’t going to help when we all share a similar goal (keeping innocent people safe).
@Palvasha - it’s not right to wish death upon people. Many of those soldiers were forced into going and were brainwashed to believe they were keeping their people safe from a nuclear bomb or something. I hear stories of soldiers committing terrible crimes but I also know many of them are innocent people who are helping to rebuild. I just wish none of it ever happened. I’m angry about the Iraq war as it doesn’t make much sense to me but I do not know what to think about the invasion of Afghanistan. After 9/11 people were very frightened of another attack from the Taliban and the Taliban were doing terrible things to people is Afghanistan so it makes sense to want them out - but what of the thousands of innocent people who die as a consequence - it’s not fair. I don’t know what to think of the whole mess.
People are people - we cannot judge them by their race or government. Hatred and racism is simply fuel for more hatred and racism.

I mean’t that they were forced to go there the first place. I know there are some soldiers doing awful things to innocent people but we can’t judge them all because of the acts of a few. I saw the pictures from the prisons and those responsible will be charged for their crime - sadly not all such crimes will be brought to media attention and will go unpunished. I do agree that they needed to get the Taliban out of power but yes it should have been done in a different way - the death of innocent people is not acceptable and defeats the purpose of interfering in the first place.
