Daniel Craig Needs New York ‘Defiance’
007 favorite Daniel Craig and long-time love Satsuki Mitchell (in Alexander McQueen) attend The Cinema Society screening of Defiance on Monday (January 12) in New York City.
We last saw the 40-year-old actor premiering the film in Paris last week.
Daniel talked to Jay Leno about keeping some things hidden, saying, “I have a couple of tattoos where you’d see them. There’s another where you wouldn’t. It’s hidden away! I had them done when I was 16 or 17. It was a rebellion thing. Make-up artists have a nightmare with them though because they continually have to cover them up. I don’t regret them, you can’t. It’s a personal thing.”

I feel pretty much the same way. The dress is nice, but it doesn’t really look right on her, maybe it’s her hair or the masculine face, I don’t know. It’s very feminine dress, and she simply isn’t feminine. Maybe if she had put a sheer black scarf around her neck to hide the adam’s apple, maybe that would have looked better. But she still has such a masculine facial bone structure. I’m not really sure what style would look good on her.

I’m sitting here with flannel pjs and a housecoat and I’m getting cold just by looking at her pics… gawd she must have been freezing! :( The good thing is that it was probably just in and out of the car. First official outing for Naomi Watts since the birth of her second son Samuel Kai exactly a month ago today. Naomi and Liev Schreiber attended the Defiance screening in New York last night. Assisted by a striped dress over – assuming – a pair of spanx, Naomi looked as though she was never pregnant at all. Good outfit, great genes. And the shoes…always the shoes.

I got another angle on this… there were at least two “gossips” that turned out to be wrong (for at least the time allowed for the facts to happen) - the marriage and the pregnancy. I would think that Lainey prides herself on getting the best scopes and having the best contacts. Well, it was obviously before the QOS royal premiere. Still strange when I look back on that night - it truly was a night to remember for a lot of people. I really had to do some soul-searching on how I felt. On one hand I was happy because it showed that they were a true couple, but on the other hand I was angry at Dan because I loss some respect for him in dealing with his love for Sats. Unless he was told not to show any emotion or that he didn’t want all the publicity to their relationship… but no matter - it really meant a turning point.
The bottom line was that I was in love with James Bond and not so much with Daniel Craig and seemed to fantasize about that role. Sats was so easy to ignore because I really knew nothing about her or their relationship (or I didn’t want to). They seemed odd together (still do). Then I went and bought as many of his former movies before Bond that I could and then proceeded to watch them. I came away with really nothing other than he is a great actor. I’m sure he’s happy with that conclusion! But I’ve watched QOS 8 times in the theater and have played CR many, many times. So there ya go!

Yes for a lot of people that night was the turning point and the recent holiday was the breaking point.
Their privacy is something they call on their terms it seems, (their perogative I guess) but it is a very strange turn of events still.
There was a complete public 180 from him and even I was baffled.
I thought of so many reasons and the only one I could reasonably come to terms with is that he is no longer apprehensive to show his feelings and Satsuki is evidently glowing because of it.

No, I did not take any pics.
i do not have a camera on my cell phone.
i did not take photos.
i was outside and the studio is on the ground floor, so when they are filming/interviewing, people can just look right into the studio.
Many people were there taking pictures, flashes going off.
I just looked right into the studio from the big glass window and they ahve Daniel and Matt lauer sitting there in charis, talking, interviewing. And you can see the entire studio and cameras, etc. from the street.
From the sidewalk, I was behind daniel, sort of on an angle. his back was facing the galss window and the street, so obviously he was not looking at the outside window, but he was facing the cameras.
I have some pics of Daniel in the studio, I wonder if we can see on those?

I have been seeing the same advisor/psychic for about 15 years, I think I told eveyone before.

She said she didn’t sense any real affection or love between these two.

In that post she mentions and IIRC is the only one that does, that Daniel declares “I love Satsuki Mitchell” after making a speech. This is also the first time the gossips are out of Sats being pregnant. The second time pregnancy is mentioned is 11/6 when she states that Satsuki pregnancy buzz is picking up steam. And lastly, pregnancy or the lack thereof, the holiday pics with Sats “killer body”.

I think because she made all those predictions, marriage, pregnancy, rumors of a nancy, so on and so on, she feels foolish, and is maybe upset with them for not following her predictions!
I think she has finally realized what others have yet to realize, that he is not going to marry her, and that she’s just a hanger on.
I mean why does a man need to marry a woman when she will hang around even when he he doesn’t want to.
Maybe if she was a ittle stronger and said marry me or I leave, maybe he would do it, but he may say no, but then she should leave, you know the old saying, let something go and if it is meant to be, it will return to you.

I’ve taken that into consideration, but if she did not want to marry, then why is she always flashing the ring around, why does she want people to think they are engaged or married already. Why is it so important to her that in St. Bart’s there were pictures where she intentionally was showing off the ring. I think she definitely wants to get married. I could be wrong, but her behavior with showing off that ring tells me that she definitely wants marriage.
There are few women who do not want to get married, and many women who do not want to get married have usually been really bad by men or have gone through a bad divorce already. I don’t think either circumstance has happened to sats as she was quite young when she met Dan, what 29, so I doubt she had a whole lot of time to get really burned yet.
I would bet a year of my salary that she wants to get married and have children. Especially since she is at the biological clock age.
I have a feeling she will find herself in Heike’s shoes, because he obviously does not want marriage at this time in his life, or he would have walked down the aisle already. But the only way for her to find out is to be strong and walk away if he says no.
Heike walked and because of that she found her dream of a child and marriage and a family to call her own. If she continued to wait and hang on, she wouldn’t have what she has today.
I think that is the main reason I don’t like Sats, I have no respect for her. I would like her a lot more if she acted more like a strong woman and not his puppet, and being so insecure. Strong,confident, independent women are always more attractive to both sexes.

Naomi looks gorgeous, that is one very happy looking couple, and her dress looks wonderful on her for just having a baby, and it is beautifully season appropriate but sexy. They are holding hands, which in my opinion is such a sweet thing, and not hiding it behind his back.
I don’t know but there’s a different in the way Liev and Naomi look than the way Sats and Dan look. There’s a natural glow between them that is shared. I’m just not seeing it between DC and Sats.
It almost seems like they do things in reponse to PR consensus. The holding her hand behind his back seemed kind of strange and cold, a lot of people were commenting on it, so now it’s an arm around her waist. He seemed kind of cold to her, which a lot of people were noticing, so now awkard pecks on the red carpets.
I think that is the biggest difference, other couples who have babies together and who are married, you can see the natural love and affection between them, where with DC and Sats it all seems to be forced and in response to public opinion to improve both of their images, which is kind of sad, because if there was true love between them, it would come naturally, as it does for Liev and Naomi.

I think they make a strange couple also, and in the beginning, yes, I thoought they looked very much in love, but lately, I don’t know. I hear she gave an interview and talked about how controlling he is, and he has been heard complaining about what a princess she is to other friends, and lately I don’t think they look as in love as they used.
That was my earlier point, in the beginning DC and Sats did look like they were in love, but that look seems to be fading, they don’t look as happy with each other as they used to.
Now mind you, when I first got married, people thought we were heading straight for the lawyer before we could celebrate our first year anniversary, it was hard getting used to each other, but here we are many years later and people ask us what we do to make our marriage work and our friends tell us how in love we look, which we are, now, we worked through the difficult times because we had to.
But it seems like DC and Sats are not as in love as they used to be, and since they are not married, and being a man, I don’t know if DC will bother with all the work of making it work since he doesn’t have to since there is no ring on his finger, he may feel its just easier to move on, like he did with heike.
I think maybe he will call it a day after Bond 23 personally. But you make good points, I really don’t know about the baby situation, that’s hard to read.
I don’t think he is actively looking for fatherhood again but it may not be him that makes that choice (again).

yes, i am the one who saw daniel down at the Today SHow this morning.

Ok, so i purposely did not post about this earlier.
But I will say this, that i did see.
My observations only…..
I am very sure she was there.
I was looking at everyone to see if i could spot her.
here is what i saw.
When I looked into the studio, i saw the cameras, and cameramen, and int he back of the studio there were a lot of people standing.
ALl of the women had dark hair.
I could see them clearly.
One of them had their hair pulled back like in a ponytail or bun.
Her hair was black in color.
She was small frame, not a midget but seemed to be small/thin in frame. and shorter than Daniel.
After the interview he went over to her specifically and sort of ushered her out, like “here, you go ahead of me, you go before me” and they all filed out of the studio.
I am sure it was Sats.
the only description I will give is, there was a poster on a few threads ago. not sure if this poster was a man/woman but they worked for the press- maybe a paparazzi- I don’t know,
Anyway, THAT POSTER had seen Sats and said that they looked twice, and it was not a “double take” in the way that was complimentary. that poster described her as gawky…
I will only say that I understand what that poster meant. You do look twice, but not in the way that you would normally look twice.

The interview regarding controlling and princess was regarding JLO and Marc, I can’t remember where I read it, it was on line one day while I was browsing articles.
Okay, no insults.
If you go back and look at pictures of them together in the beginning, which she was a tad bit chunkier, you can see him all the time with these big grins, and there is a picture of them in the beginning, probably in the first year, where he affectionaly has both his arms around her at a premier or show or something. You can tell he was kind of crazy about her.
But now in the past year or so, maybe two years, his posture and attitude with her has changed. There is no doubt that these two fight a lot, that has been proven by a lot of pap photos of them looking down right miserable toward each other. I think all the fighting has taken a toll.
Let me use a marital example. There are marriage counselors that actually recommend separate bedrooms for spouses. Why? Because it brings back the romance into the marriage. Afterall, it’s a little difficult to see your spouse in the same sexy manner as before you got married when you see them every morning with their hair all over the place, morning breath, morning eye goo, etc., but wih separate bedrooms, each partner has a change to make themselves presentable before greeting their spouse, and visiting each other’s bedroom, well, that just adds all kind of spice.
Take this same theory and apply it to fighting. It is difficult to see your partner in the same light after you have seen them at their worse, sprewing horrible things at you, accusing you of all kinds of stuff.
If two people truly deeply love each other, they can work past it, sometimes with counseling, and with very forgiving hearts, but in the end you see your partner in a different way, you can never see them the way you saw them before.
For a man as sensitive as DC is, being a pisces and all, and being as ill tempered as he is known to be, I think it is very difficult for him to move beyond all the fighting that has occurred between them. I think he does not see her the same way as he used to, and I personally think it shows in how he is posing with her, acting with her in St. Bart’s, etc.
I honestly feel that with time, maybe another year, maybe even two, he will grow even more distant from her, and slowly start emotionally moving away from her, which I think he has already started to do, based on how he looks with her today compared to how he looked with her two years ago.

The line regarding the “fighting”, is there evidence of such? I hear the comments and the like but that supposition is somewhat weak in it’s conjecture to hammer home the point that Daniel is fed up with it.

Okay, let’s just admit it, the simple fact is, she is not an attractive woman. That’s fine, that does not make any gawky woman a horrible woman.
But what we base our opinions on is what we see with Sats. The way she subs his fans, the snobby looks she gives to people, the bored look she gets when he is signed autographs. These things form an impression of her that is not very good.
Then we have heard first hand reports of how she has told people to “fuch off.” Again, not giving her a good impression with people.
Those of us who do not like her, do not like her for the impression she has given us of the kind of woman she is. It has nothing to do with her looks.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And several times I have met women who at first glance I thought were a little homely, but as I got to know them, as their beautiful personalties came out, I started to see how beautiful they really were on the outside, their inner beauty made them beautiful even on the outside.

I could not agree more, and I am not going to get into the “astrology” of it all, but in my opinion, I think you have hit the nail on the head here.
I can totally see where after a while, it all takes a toll on the heart and soul.
Sometimes, therre is so much water that goes under a bridge, that although it is all over with, there are deep deep hurts and scars, and SOME people just shift after it all, there is a shift that occurs inside them, a “NO TURNING BACK” shift and they do break or move on and away.

My first impression of Satsuki was a double take. I first saw her I think in a picture of them in an airport a couple of years ago.
It took awhile to sink in. To tell the truth, I am not quite sure whether she has grown on me or I have just got used to the headache.
She does, and I don’t know exactly WHAT she does, but she does hold her face in quite a “snotty” way. Forgive me as I do not want to start insults but I saw it at it’s zenith at the Australian QoS Prem. Maybe it was the dress that brought it out in her.

The secret as to whether a relationship will work is whether the fights diminish. If two couples are fighting like cats and dogs in the first year, and are still fighting like cats and dogs in the fourth year, they will BOTH get tired and eventually move on.
If two people get along beautifully but the fights grow as the years go on, they are definitely getting tired of each other.
Everyone knows a couple of years ago they were going through a difficult path, it was obvious from the Mexico video, and earlier this year it looked like they were going though a rough patch from the pictures we saw of them looking miserable at each other. If they cannot learn to be harmonous with each other, one of them is going to either stray or leave.
Because Sats has a lot vested in this relationship, I think it makes sense that it will be DC who strays or leaves.

Yes, I did hear that a rough patch was occurring around the time of the pre holiday Oscars.
Yes I think they fight as most couples do and I think THEY fight a lot considering their world is like a golfish bowl.

In fact, I think they have reached a high point in their dynamics. It was plain to see all the way through the QoS. I see them looking at each other in a different manner. I don’t really know how to explain it.
Did you see any of the pics of them from the beginning. There is one where she some kind of a whie dress on and she’s a little chunky. Did you see that one?
If yes, do you remember the big grin on his face.
Have you seen the picture of them at some kind of premier where he has arms around, I think she has some kind of silver dress on with very large sleeves. Do you remember that one?
You just don’t see that anymore between them. I don’t see the big silly I love her grin, I can’t remember the last time I saw him so affectionately put both of his arms around her. Those pictures seemed genuine and I remember thinking, good for him :)
But it seems to have somehow changed. There’s affection, at times, but it doesn’t seem as loving or as warm as before. I don’t know if he literally sees her differently, but after four years, and a lot of fights, I’m pretty sure he does, and I say this from experience, it’s just something that happens between two people, once the fighting starts you just can’t go back to the beginning and see each other the same way again, I’m sure she sees him differently too. It just happens.
Here is what I see is the biggest difference that MAY and my own personal opinion will cause them to part ways.
Sats, being a woman, is probably more forgiving by nature, as woman have a tendency to be more forgiving, so even though she sees him differently, she has probably forgiven many things.
Dan, being a man, a sensitive man, with a bad temper, probably is not as forgiving as her, and seeing her differently is probably not so great for him. He probably gets more irritated with her, or more easily irritated with her because of it.
This difference between them, one being more forgiving then other, is not a good thing, and will eventually come to a boiling point for one or both of them.
I do think he gets irritated with her as he does with many things yes. I also think he depends on her to structure him as, being an artistic person, I’m sure his mind wanders off on tangents constantly.
Yes I remember the pics of which you are referring and that silly big grin. Remember that first pic was on the Layer Cake circuit and they were just freshly dating since late 2004.
The CR circuit was an odd one but he wasnt smiling as much in that as he was in QoS which I put down to nerves. I think she is more confident than he and is again part of the reason that attracts him. her confidence is probably above his. To get anywhere in the biz, even prodcuing a crappy horror film, needs nerves of steel.

They were photographed before QOS where they very obviously had a fight. They looked 110% miserable in each other’s company, they would not even walk next to each other, and he looked like he wanted to cry.
Maybe, they did make up, and that is why they looked happy during the premiers.
But it looked like they had a bit of a fight during holiday.
Now no arguing, but I saw different when I looked at the bar pics.
I saw a very drunk man flirting with other women and sats looking pretty PO about it.
I think maybe they made up a bit for this premier, but I don’t think they look as happy at this premier as the QOS premier.
We won’t be seeing them for a while now, but I won’t be surprised if we see pap photos of them on the street looking upset with each other again.
I may be wrong, but I have a feeling when these two spend a lot of time together without much to do, that is when they start fighting.

I think Defiance will do better in the UK than in the US. We have a tremendous polish population here and I think it will highly affect the box office. Personally, I will not see the movie based on principle.
I don’t know anyone personally that lived through that time (except for my parents) but I do know Tuvia’s history from reading about it.
What I dont get is that NO-ONE (hopefully Charlie Rose will as he is very serious) mentioned about the other side of Tuvia’s history and the protests that were visibly left out of all reports on the premieres apart the the UK’s The Sun.

I think part of it is she is embarassed because she made all those predictions and she was wrong, and I’ve heard that a lot of her previous predictions were right, so she might be especially embarassed.

Speaking for myself, I never heard of him until CR - so he was totally off my radar and I follow the entertainment business not religiously but better than a lay person. You place an actor who might not have that much self confidence in him/herself as a “person” and thrust them into a mega spotlight (such as the Bond movies) and they need HELP! You noticed I put “person” in quotes… DC is a great actor - he plays roles very well - but he’s acting another person’s life… but IMHO he has trouble just being Daniel Craig in public…

I also think it’s along the lines of marking her territory. DC did the red carpet and premier for Munich and Road to Prediction beautifully without anyone rubbing his back. He was happy and joking at that time. In my opinion, her presence has made him more stiff. He looked very relaxed during the premiers of Munich and Road to Prediction, I think she makes him more nervous.

Sure danny boy may be dependent and have that kind of personality, but that is even more of a reason why I don’t respect her for being an enabler. A good woman who really loves him would not encourage that side of his personality. She would help him to overcome that weakness, to become a better and stronger person. I have real issues with enablers, it’s is probably the most selfish act a person can exhibit. To be someone’s enabler so they will always depend on you. It’s an emotional crime.
If she were to help him to overcome that weakness, he would probably love her a thousand times more, and she would definitely win his heart forever, because helping someone earns much more love and respect than enabling them.
When you help someone overcome a weakness, they remember you forever. When you enable them, they may look somewhere else for help and then forget you.

I’ll say it again, Satsuki is NOT going anywhere unless Daniel says it’s over and then she will probably turn on the waterworks (sorry to sound cynical) and Daniel won’t say that unless he has a SURE thing elsewhere BUT I feel that Daniel has other friends he talks too or reaches out too (not sleep with), I would bet Satsuki only tolerates certain aspects of him. I’m sure Daniel has a range of people he confides in for different reasons.
But again, Daniel wont say it’s over if Satsuki is what I think she is and THAT is a SMART Lady.

But he may just keep going back to her because she’s familiar, and not necessarily love her more for tolerating his straying way, if that is what he does.
I guess we have to ask ourselves, would we respect our partner if they always took us back when they know we are always straying.
I know everyone is different, but I would probably tell my partner that they could do better, because I will never be faithful.
I have known a few women who have tolerated womanizing men, including my own mum, but in the end, there comes a day they tell the man not to bother coming home anymore or to get out, took my mum 15 years, but she finally said enough. In the end, no woman tolerates a womanizer forever, they do reach the end of their rope, how long it takes is different with each woman.

I don’t know if it’s true or not, but the way I see him flirting with other women and checking other women out, even on Regis and Kelly this morning, I saw his eyes a few times checking out Kelly’s legs, the man just looks like a classic womanizer to me.
I’m sorry if I offend anyone, but I think this man is far from faithful. She can super glue herself to him, but a man does find ways to stray if it’s in his nature.
Mel Gibson is a perfect example of that. His wife tried her best to be glued to his side and he still cheated on her.
I also remember that a pap once mentioned that they are not always together, she will leave for three days or a week to do her own thing, that are are apart more than people realize, and I have a feeling during those breaks from each other, he isn’t just sitting at home alone.
Well we don’t know that do we and I wouldn’t assume too far on that.
I am sure he isnt sitting home alone, why should he?
He may say to an interviewer he is sad when she leaves for these weekends but I am sure he keeps himself occupied with stuff.
