OlderKate Winslet - “InStyle” February 2009
Kate Winslet looks better than ever in Herve Leger on the February 2009 cover of InStyle. Here’s what the 33-year-old British beauty opened up about:
On not wanting plastic surgery: “I’m a normal human being. I don’t have any desire to change my body as a result of having had two kids. That’s a good thing, isn’t it?” (Oprah told Kate earlier this week: “God bless your real breasts.”
On how Hollywood has changed these past few years: “There is so much access to celebrity that it’s become harder to hold on to any mystery as an actress. The audience can have a fixed idea of you in their head.”
On not wanting to be referred to as a movie star: “I don’t feel like [one] in my life at all, and I don’t particularly think I behave like one. I don’t have my own plane. I don’t have a chef of a trainer. To me, you’re a movie star only during the time when you’re at the Academy Awards or at an important glamorous event. It’s very much a hat that you wear, and as soon as the event’s over, that hat comes off. I’m back to being me and being Mommy, and that’s my priority.”
On not having a natural impulse to pamper herself: “Literally, the one maybe celeb-y thing I do is the occasional facial. That is the only indulgent thing, where I just lie there and relax for an hour. You can’t answer the phone. You can’t get up and make soup. You’ve just got to lie there and have somebody make you feel nice.”

I like Kate but she doesn’t look like that. Photoshop makes older skin look like velvet.
But most people are morons and easily fooled so why not I guess.

Enough of Kate Winslet, already, enough! She’s a great actress and makes very smart choices in her roles but she is NOT the second coming. Lots of us are walking around with our regular bodies, lumps and all. I’m just at that stage now where I can’t watch her movies because I can’t suspend reality. Stop doing lame interviews with Oprah and talking about your ‘real’ breasts!
I think Kate is really pretty cause she looks like Madonna (L).

More women in the industry need to take note from her! She’s an incredible actress, and is a very real person. I have an enormous amount of respect for her. She’s very genuine and lovely. I hope she wins the Oscar! She gave incredible performances! :)
She is a good actress but there is a bit of phoniness to her. A bit over the top. Think she has been that way since Titanic and maybe before. Take her money away and then lets talk about not being a celeb.
I love Kate, as a personality and an actress…but why do magazines have to freakin’ photoshop everyone? Kate is a beatuful woman as she is, so why do have to “touch up” photos so that every celeb looks like they came from a cookie cutter? I just don’t get it. This does not look like the real Kate, just some plastic resemblence of Kate.

Nora, you’re misinformed. She wasn’t the one to bring up her “real breasts”, Oprah was. Here is a woman who has enormous talent, a normal outlook and an “every woman” quality. Love her. Why she hasn’t won an Oscar yet, after “Finding Neverland”, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “Little Children”, I have NO idea.

I think Kate is extremely talented but this “normal woman” stuff is crap. She looks incredibly different from her hair color to her body from where she began. She has sculpted and toned her body to more closely resemble those in Hollywood and she should just admit it. She’s married to a director and splits time between NY and London and she’s not just like us. This is all part of the Oscar campaign waged on her behalf and Kate is obsessed with winning an Oscar. She wants one and she will do whatever she needs to in order to get it. The more she speaks the more she sounds like the phony Ms. Witherspoon.

She is normal but it’s easier to live that kind of life when you are doing low budget and independant movies that the general public don’t care about. People whho consume her movies are not tabs target so she doesn’t live under the public scrutiny

She took that route just after Titanic. If she had several commercial successes she would be hounded and forced to live diffirently…Besides that’s what happens just after Titanic in the UK. I remebered her saying that it was easier to get her anonymity in the US..

Stars don’t choose, celabrity choose them and if she had that kind of celebrity, she could not possibly live normal until she reached 40. Just like Reese who is never hounded, never criticized for her physique, what she does or not to the lest details, ect… they can get away and live as normal as us because they their aura doesn’t feed public scrutiny.

I hate photoshop! I wouldn’t even know who this was supposed to be if it wasn’t printed by the picture. Photoshop just sucks! It’s so fake.

I like Kate.. Love most of her movies.. But she is playing the game this time around… She wants that Oscar big time. She has never done this much press or Mag. covers. As matter of fact I don’t remember ever seeing her on this many covers during any movie Promo. She barely did any TV shows.. . She once said that she didn’t worry about her body.. that too has changed.. the hair is lighter, the make up better, and the body toned.. Yes Kate is working it big time.. I think she looks great but she is being completely disingenuous about her attitude about her looks. She had a major nose job recently and lost a great deal of weight as well as blonded her hair up to be more glamorous and look like a movie star. She REALLY wants an Oscar and she has pulled out all the stops to get it. This cover just another part of the campaign. She knows Hollywood loves to reward the more beautiful actresses when they are young.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong with it but any protest on her part that she isn’t part and parcel of the typical Hollywood mentality rings false. Plus she may not have a plane or the like but she very conveniently left her husband shortly after they had a baby and married up to her very own high profile director husband. Many people would regard that as a much better career move than adopting the lie style of a movie star. In any event neither she nor her husband have reached the ranks of the highest paid yet to even be able to afford that life style.

But that’s a great cover. She looks lovely. I’m not at all happy for the recognition of that awful Reservation Road and its stylized overacting.
God, I feel sad. I feel tired of her now. I guess my fandom is over.

#40, she is most certainly photoshopped on this cover. They do it to everybody, and it’s just dumb…it makes her look fake. Compare to the JJ pictures from the Golden Globes. This cover is not all real.
She is a beautiful women. She has played a BIG role for being actress for women all over.

she’s so gorgeous i’m so glad she won two awards for her movie well deserved.
I saw her movie, “The Reader.” and I honestly tell you,
that she was very wonderful in it. You feel so lucky to have
seen this movie on the wide screen.
It is the first movie that makes you walk in the shoes
that the Jews may have walked in, on their way to the
death chamber. You feel like you are walking in the same
path, across that same wooden floor. In my own opinion,
it is like all of those years ago, are swept away, and you,
yourself, are taking that last horrible walk. It is so mind
dumbing, and tearful. Your eyes open wide, and your heart
pounds.
PLEASE see this movie. Kate is wonderful.
Only Angelina is better in “The Changeling.”

There is a huge difference between technical beauty lighting and post-production photoshop and, for once, InStyle has opted to run an image that did not need to be photoshopped on it’s cover.
The suck-it-in Lycra bandage Harve Leger dress takes care of everything else….on everyone. She’s standing sideways which helps. If you see Kate out shopping, her skin really does look that good right now.
Glamour butcher-photoshop’s everyone beyond recognition, but InStyle doesn’t any more.
Am I the only person who doesn’t think Winslet is all that? I just saw Revolutionary Road and I thought she was horribly overacting the entire way through! I think she has become easily the most overrated actress of all times. And her personality leaves much to be desired. She’s always coming across as self-centered as she’s always talking about herself. She does realize that there is a whole world out there with interesting things to talk about. I’m getting so tired of her!
