On January 22—the anniversary of Heath Ledger’s passing—Hollywood will unveil this year’s Academy Award nominees, and Heath is considered a lock to secure a posthumous Best Supporting Actor nod for his performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight.
A year after Heath Ledger’s death, his closest friends finally open up to EW about his last days, life as a father to Matilda and fear of fame.
“I haven’t talked about it until now. I’m really nervous,” says actor Wes Bentley, one of Heath Ledger’s closest friends. They costarred in 2002’s The Four Feathers. “Heath’s fun clouded its way through a room,” says Wes. “It was infectious …Some people think he’d party too much and take drugs. That wasn’t the case. It was young energy. He was high off life.”
“Heath always seemed so mature,” says 10 Things I Hate About You costar Julia Stiles. “I got the sense he was averse to becoming any kind of teen idol. I think he felt like 10 Things had more substance, but he anticipated that if he did more movies like this, he’d get stuck doing teen romantic comedies.”

Vi i am sure that Jake will talk, but it not easy… everybody have his own way of sadness… you know i even like him more, because of his silence.
Why people have to know, what he feel for someone so close to him.
By the way his behavior tells his deep suffering…
He said only two or three words on Golden Globe, then he leave party.
He didn’t go to funeral or any event related with Heath..
He only knows what his going through.

so i never go on ew…but i come on jj sometimes and i’m really glad he posted this story just so I could look at heath’s pictures. i never said once in my life oh look at that guy heath ledger, he’s so hot. i don’t think stating the obvious is his style so i always connected with him in that he and i are both artists and the conflicts he comes accross are the same i have in my life. i like people i can relate to who share in living life on a natural high instead of an artificial high. He was my favourite actor, from back before home and away, and i was always staying up at night to see him in some of the australian tv shows we would get here. I’ve seen all the films he’s in except for the Dark Knight…not because I’m scared of his brilliant acting, but because I don’t want to remember how great he was. I want to remember him as a great person in the present because that’s how I always regarded him. A person like me with faults always pushing pushing pushing, searching for something, never relying on just your looks or meaningless ****. He thinks, he loves, and he’s an amazing person. I cried when I saw the news of his death and I’m crying typing this now. I still can’t believe he’s gone…it doesn’t make sense to me. it’s gonna take a long time for me to realize all of that, but I just pray for his family and friends. It doesn’t happen a lot that there are completely authentic human beings in the entertainment business, and i’m thankful he pursued art and brought his passion to the entire world. I think he was blessed and blessed others. He’s lucky, and people are lucky to have known him. This is so sad. Live your life the way you want to because you never know when this gift is going to be taken away. Thanks Jared.

a lot of what the directors,, writers, his agent and actors said wasn’t really surprising especially if you’ve seen the making of such and such film and heard him talk/met him in person. also don’t take that part about the broken heart literally…i don’t dislike michelle williams, even if i never liked her before ledger/dawsons creek days etc…or after all this crap. i think he broke his heart. i’m sure people will know what i mean by that so i’m gonna let that be. a lot of times people tell me i’m a perfectionist, or that i’m always working to hard, or that sometimes i’m off my rocker and on a different level than most people (never taken drugs or dranks anything…a pretty bland person who doesn’t really do anything bad), or that i need to stop and either dail it down or stop and enjoy life a lot more, or that i think too much about everything. it sucks when you are artistic and you have to compromise yourself and your craft because of fame/success or your choice of profession but that is the game and the story of life…achieving…but who for…why can’t you just be yourself all the time, why are so many people judgemental…and sometimes you can’t play that game well because you don’t believe in your gift–your abilities, and you ALWAYS second guess yourself. and then there’s always the temptations, and then you have to figure out a way to deal with your anxieties and being so focused on something that you make yourself sick or weaken your body. then you need to turn to the meds but you don’t want to stop your mind working the way you know it does…and then stuff like this happen. it f’n sucks and i wouldn’t wish it on anyone. god bless him.

I hate when certain people tells that Jake doesn’t care.. If you watched Jake and Heath pictures or their videos on You tube, you can feel their connection. It is huge shock when someone so close suddenly dies, you don’t know what to think, how to act.. you just dissapear.
And that’s what Jake do… when he heard about Heath’s death.. he just dissapear. And his look, he rapidly aged in year, he become so serious, his only company is Reese..

I usually don’t pay attention to the world of celeb people, but the sudden death of Heath nearly one year ago was huge shock for me.
I cannot cope with the fact that he has gone forever. I first became aware of his unique talent when I saw him in Monsters Ball, his sensitivity was really touching and in Brookeback his acting was so vulnerable and heartbreaking that it still resonates…..
He seemed so different from other hollywood people, so down to earth, so humble, I loved his controversial attitude towards the media, I felt so related to him……
If asked myself a hundred times why, but none of us will ever know the real circumstances of his death, he will ever hide this secret.
