Daniel Craig & Satsuki Mitchell are Ballin’
Daniel Craig and long-time love Satsuki Mitchell (in Jenny Packham) keep close as they attend the 2009 Deutscher Filmball at Bayerischer Hof hotel in Munich, Germany on Saturday.
The dashing duo continued to promote Daniel’s film, Defiance, which opened in the U.S. last Friday. Also pictured below are Steffen Kuchenreuther (President of the Central Organization of the Film industry) and director Edward Zwick.

Well, me and Sats have something in else in common - other than being American and brunette! We can’t wear lacey, frilly things (except underwear, or course!). ;)
I feel for her tho… she/Daniel/stylist are beseiged by designers wanting her to wear their clothes - some hit, but some like the France and now Germany for Defiance miss. She (and me) do not have delicate features and are very angular - we do best with structured outfits. If you take away the lace and sheer lower skirt and replace it with just one fabric it might have worked.
Kudos for the hair and makeup - like her hair pulled back but not too severe. :)
If there is any consolation (even for the Sats haters) is that this is much better than the last time they were in Germany.

I’ll say this again… I love looking at Daniel but not Sats - I tolerate her but sometimes it gets too much and I end up wanting both to just go away. If they’re “stuck” together and cannot separate during these photo-ops then I might as well just let him go. It’s blasphemy, I know, but that’s why I’m slowing coming to the conclusion that I only like DC for Bond and nothing else. ;(
BTW, saw QOS at the dollar saver theater yesterday, really good crowd too… about 20-25 - can’t beat it for $3! :D

You are absolutely right… it’s sad, and I feel as if I wasted my time - but it was a great ride while it lasted. For it to come to such a ugly end for me has made me re-think on how I view celebrities. To be a fan, a true fan, you need to accept everything about them, if you have any doubts, you need to do some soul-searching on why you liked them in the first place. With Daniel, it was BOND, before that I never even heard of him or saw him in any movies.
Maybe one day, I guess I’ll see the light, but for right now things are looking very dim. ;(

Yep, it is a waste of time - but as long as JJ keeps putting up threads about THEM then it’s open season - for better or for worse. It’s his life but as a celebrity you’re judged by what you display - and he is being displayed a lot with Sats and that’s seems to be what he wants - then he has to take the sh*t with the sugar. So I feel as if I have a right to judge (and I try to be fair about it).

Which is probably the reason I’ve never posted on DtD… I’m totally out of my league - mostly in my “love” for DC (which is limited). I’ve never been in the presence of “industrial strength” fans before .But that might be because I’ve never like a singular celebrity. It’s always been groups or teams (sports) which gives you the option of liking many as opposed to one. Does that make sense? :?

Snuggles & Snogs, First time I saw him was CR. He was so hot but in the scene where he is recovering from his injuries and professes his love and “all that he is” to Vesper — I burst out laughing. It was completely unbelievable. Recently I watched some of his acclaimed performances from Our Friends in the North — and I say, “meh!” And then there is the horrible accent in the commercials for Defiance.

The reason why he seems overexposed is because he has done 7 movies in just over 2 and 1/2 years. That is a pretty impressive rate of work by anyone’s standards.
With every one of those 7 movies there have been interviews, premieres, appearences and photo calls. No wonder we have seen so much of him.
I hope he now puts his feet up for a few months before beginning the next Bond movie - not because I don’t want to see pics of him but because I think the poor man deserves a rest and some peace and quiet!!

If that is all you have watched in a career dating back to 1992 then you need to get hold of the rest of it. Try Love and Rage, Ice House, Kiss and Tell, Obsession, Love is the Devil, Sword of Honor, Some Voices, Infamous…..there are loads and loads more to choose from. He is one of the finest actors of his generation.
he did say in a interview recently he won’t be like Greta Garbo..(i want to be alone), he realizes that he has movies to promote and that his fame will not interfere with his day to day life. I guess that mean’s he wont hide away (anymore?)
I´m not a psychic, but I could easily see Daniel with another blonde woman. His ex-wife and ex-girlfriend are both blondes, and he cheated on Satsuki with blonde Sienna Miller. I think he likes blondes (which is cool since I´m a blonde). Satsuki doesn´t seem like his type. In fact, they seem like such a mismatch. She must be one persistent, manipulative woman to be able to get him and have him for this long. I hope her luck runs out. I hope Daniel is smart enough to see through behaviour and kicks her to the curb. He deserves better. Satsuki deserves to fade into obscurity.

I would call a good actor but certainly not one of the finest actors of his generation. Yes, he has made alot of movies in the past few years but only Bond has been a great success. Maybe he needs to focus on the quality of movies versus the quantity of movies he makes. Outside of Bond (which I do find entertaining) he has not been the lead in a successful movie.
Depends on what you call good. Although I’m happy for the recognition it brought him, a small part of me wishes he had never made Bond because i preferred him in the smaller but better quality roles like Ray in Some Voices and Guy in Sword of Honor.
Yes, I agree he is very good in smaller roles. I guess it is tough for any actor to carry the majority of a movie. I wonder if the entertainment industry takes any Bond actor seriously. I just cringed when I listened to DC try to seriously convince people that “Bond was out for revenge for the people who killed the love of his life….

Notwithstanding the fact that Daniel Craig is in the public eye and a respectable actor, I think their looks are on par with one another. True, Satsuki may not be the ultimate “arm candy,” but Craig is not exactly Johnny Depp either. He is definitley showing his age!

Had to bump this back up because I went and bought the DVD (2 disc) a few days ago and just finished watching it. AND… WOW!!!
Maybe it’s the HD, maybe it’s the new plasma Pioneer Elite TV… or maybe it’s just Daniel Craig. Anyhoo, he’ll be replacing Arroyo in my fantasties (well, at least until spring training).
Before I watched the movie I reviewed this thread just to get the feel - and remembered all the problems with Craig and the production - which the British press and Drudge seemed to report with glee. Even tho’ I didn’t reply to this thread (until now) I had my doubts then - but I can safely say that the crow was pretty tasty.

In the 43 listed above he was the lead or co-lead in 19 of them so his role in each of those was not “smaller”. They are not blockbusters, but they do require finer acting talents for the more complex subject matter.
The reason why Hollywood / US public had not heard of most of most of that list of 43 films and tv movies is because they are Euro (so-called) “art house” movies and so never make past the celebrity-obsessed media in the USA.
What he does best is not Bond. What he does best is good quality pieces that require real acting and not just standing in front of a camera looking pretty. Though I readily concede he does that wonderfully too!!
I’ve loved him since 1992 and have seen him on the English stage as well as in all of the above. He is a classic gem of an actor.
I’m hoping as #73 said that all the attention he gets now will result in more of his better quality roles getting financed. I think if he gets an Oscar, it will be for something like Enduring Love or Some Voices.
There is definitely a huge PR campaign going on with Satsuki, she’s really being pushed into the limelight lately. Mainly about her style and outfits. Has anyone else noticed this??

Yes, I’ve noticed — it doesn’t make sense. Other actors don’t pose relentlessly with their gfs or wives, even those who are clearly very close and in love. I think everyone has noticed!! I just viewed JJ’s pics of Kate and Leo at their RR premiere in the UK-there are no pictures of their significant others!! They know who the fans want to see and do not push their so into the limelight!!

Those are memories I will never forget. If you ever get the chance to see him on the stage, take it!! You will never regret it.
I’ve seen him in Hurlyburly (at the The Old Vic in 1997), A Number (at the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs in 2002) and Angels in America in the original production at The National Theatre way back in 1993.
Film scenes can be re-shot and edited etc., but you can’t edit the live stage. If an actor can shine in the kind of material Daniel Craig has done on stage then he can truly be called “an actor” and not just a celeb to happens to be in films.
They seem to be well suited for each other and compliment each other. As a previous poster said if he did not want her there she would not be there. She is getting better in the make up department but only looks good at certain angles and from a distance…..upclose she is a disaster which is Dan’s angle. I have nothing against the woman but she just seems like she is trying too hard to get noticed. Just becasue a gown has a label does not mean it will look good on a person. Satsuki is stuggling for some reason to be stylish all of her fame is dependant on Daniel if they breakup she will not be seen and will just vanish. Her claim to fame is the same as the Jerry Hall’s of the world…..someone’s girlfriend! I suppose its ok if you don’t have any ambition of your own and just want love which they seem to have.

Sometimes when he is slightly hunched over like in the last pic 100, you can see the old man in him which wasn’t there two years ago. He really has aged and not well. She on the other hand seems to have picked up energy where he has seemed to have lost alot. What do you all think? Am I seeing things or do you see it as well?

The dress is lovely…..she just does not wear it well like most things she wears. At the GC opening she was standing there vigoursly chewing her gum very unladylike. She strikes me as a Japanese biker chick with no manners and very dirty and unclean.
I notice a lot of celebs chomping gum on the red carpet. It is not attractive.

Yes I do see that. it is the exchange of energy that goes on with two people so close. Neither one can have it at the same time. He seems happier but more sluggish (if that can happen), she looks so different from the previous Satsuki. It’s amazing the dynamics here.

the only two things i can think of is that she is pressing him to be more “inviting and loving of the press” (which will cause him problems down the line when he wants privacy) and that if he gives the photos now, they (the press) might leave them alone (fat chance) or that he has completely lost his marbles.

Another photo op, another disaster of a dress. If stylists are asking her to wear their clothes, she doesn’t have anyone guiding her because she looks just awful about 75% of the time. The rest of the time, she’s just ok. She must do her own hair and make-up because she looks pretty bland. Makeup can do wonders if you know what you’re doing. I think what this boils down to is that if you don’t have any sense of yourself (no job, no money of your own, no purpose in life) you don’t know how to express yourself. You go from style to style, but don’t make anything work for you.

That’s pretty harsh… I’ll give her at least an E for effort. What I stated before is that she is probably hounded by designers to wear their clothes. It would help if she wants to become a fashion icon to have one style and one designer - she could be a muse. Sort of like Audrey Hepburn and Givenchy. Anyhoo, pick a style that looks good and stick with it. I’ll have to go back to pick what I liked from the looks of the past premieres for CR, QOS and now Defiance. I guess we have one more premiere in Italy to look over.

I don’t think you can just “be” a fashion icon. The camera has to “love” you and you have to have a sense of personal style. Satsuki has neither. BUT, she does have access to people and money who can help her develop a style — or at least make the best of make-up and hair. But, she always looks like a mess. Whether she’s hard-headed or stubborn is no excuse for going out in public with her boyfriend and meeting royalty and many influential artists, etc and looking like a hanger-on. How pathetic.
I love her style. She doesn’t give an eff what anyone thinks of her choices, and that’s probably why Dan loves her so much cause he doesn’t care either. I love that he loves her, it shows he has a mind of his own and he doesn’t have to date a bleach blond bimbo to feel good about himself.
He seems more chipper than usual….he usually has the look of a damaged prize horse on his face.
