Kellie Pickler Monkeys Around

Kellie Pickler has adopted quite a strange pet — a monkey! The 22-year-old American Idol alum just wrote a blog entry titled “Monkey See…Monkey Do”:

“The ‘Pickler Family’ has gotten bigger….(and no I didn’t have a kid)…I adopted a Marmoset Monkey! She is the cutest little thing. She is so tiny, only weighs 3 ounces right now. I’m not sure exactly what I am going to name her….so maybe you guys can help me out. I’ll post a picture of her and you guys can comment on what you think I should name her….she is so sweet and she has the best personality. I absolutely love her!!!….and I love you guys too….xoxo pickler :)”

WHAT DO YOU THINK Kellie would name her monkey???

as long as she takes care of it it’s okay. Kellie is a good girl and would NEVER harm a animal. She loves him and that’s all that matters. Now if she was to do something stupid then it would be different. She still has my respect and i personaly like the idea of having a monkey. knowing her she probably did alot of research and you can have trainers come and show you how to work with them and everything. Ya’ll need to chill and back off her case. If she wants a monkey so be it. It’s not illegal and she will take care of it! I love kellie! :D

I don’t think anyone disagrees with the fact that Kellie has a good heart and probably means well. The issue is that monkeys are WILD animals not pets. They are cute and sweet and then hit puberty (at 18 months)and well, thousands of years of raw instinct take over. All wild animals are unpredictable as pets. Sometimes you get lucky and nothing bad happens, but more often than not, you are going to have issues!! Nobody supporting this action even cares that the baby was taken from it’s mother at just a few days old, or that in the wild they live in family groups of about 30, or that they come from a rainforest not a tour bus. Is she going to have it’s scent glands removed because it stinks?Their smell is really strong!! I guarantee that she won’t think it’s too cute when it starts marking it’s territory too…ha!
