Celebs have released reactions to nominations for 2009 Academy Awards via AP. Here’s a quick sampling:
“Working with Clint Eastwood was a reward in itself that will last me a lifetime. To receive a nomination from the Academy on top of that is a privilege beyond any expectation. It has been an exceptional year for acting, and I am honored to be in the company of these talented actors whose performances all deserve this recognition.” — Angelina Jolie, best-actress nominee for Changeling.
“It is such a thrill to be recognized in this category with these remarkably talented women. I was with my parents and my dog when I got the news and we were all overjoyed — although I’m not sure my dog knew what was going on. Nah, X isn’t kicking and screaming and throwing vases. She’s plotting her revenge - Marley Returns (from the dead)! She’s drunk dialing John - Grogan not Mayer. All the movies and actors nominated in the best categories were all in movies that were not seen very much by the general public, except Changeling that was viewed like 4 more times than its counterparts and TCCOBB that was viewed as much as 10 times more.

I am glad because it showed that not only they are talented and deserve to be nominated with other talented actors, they also have the biggest pull financially whatever the genre of movie they are in.

Particularly happy for Melissa Leo and Richard Jenkins. They are both excellent actors and haven’t had the opportunities to showcase their talent as others have.
Also happy that Brad Pitt scored a nom for his very beautiful yet subtle portrayal of this sweetly odd and sad character. Almost makes up for his miss last year for what I thought was the better performance in The Assassination of Jesse James.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may want to dust off the mantle and make room for matching his and her Oscar trophies after picking up Best Actor and Best Actress nominations Thursday.
Pitt, whose film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button collected 13 Oscar nods, including Best Picture, called the nominations “a great honor for the movie,” while giving props to his director. “I’m especially happy for David Fincher, for without him there would be no Ben Button,” said Pitt, who was last nominated for a supporting role in Twelve Monkeys in 1996.
Oscars aside, Changeling star Jolie also had words of gratitude for her director: Working with Clint Eastwood “was a reward in itself that will last me a lifetime,” she said.
Yet, the actress is still humbled about her nomination for her role as a mother whose son goes missing in Changeling. “To receive a nomination from the Academy on top of that is a privilege beyond any expectation,” she said Thursday. “It has been an exceptional year for acting, and I am honored to be in the company of these talented actors whose performances all deserve this recognition.”
