Angelina Jolie Reacts To Oscar Nomination

Celebs have released reactions to nominations for 2009 Academy Awards via AP. Here’s a quick sampling:

“Working with Clint Eastwood was a reward in itself that will last me a lifetime. To receive a nomination from the Academy on top of that is a privilege beyond any expectation. It has been an exceptional year for acting, and I am honored to be in the company of these talented actors whose performances all deserve this recognition.” — Angelina Jolie, best-actress nominee for Changeling.

“It is such a thrill to be recognized in this category with these remarkably talented women. I was with my parents and my dog when I got the news and we were all overjoyed — although I’m not sure my dog knew what was going on. This is a great day to be an actress!” — Anne Hathaway, best-actress nominee for Rachel Getting Married.

REACTIONS TO OSCAR NOMS

“I am so honored to be nominated for a film in which I am so proud and to be included with such a wonderful and talented group of women. It was an honor to work with [director Darren Aronofsky] and the rest of the cast and crew of The Wrestler. Congratulations to Mickey [Rourke], for an extraordinary performance.” Marisa Tomei, best supporting actress nominee for The Wrestler. Rourke received a best-actor nomination for his role in that film.
___

“It’s everything that you could possibly imagine it is, and not that I needed the nomination to know I was on the right path, but it certainly helps. It really does.” — Viola Davis, supporting-actress nominee for Doubt.

___

“I couldn’t have imagined anything like this a couple years ago. You just do your work and are happy you’re able to make some money. This is very, very special, especially because of the movie. It wasn’t that I read this character and said, `I have to do this character.’ It was more about the movie.” — Josh Brolin, supporting-actor nominee for Milk.

___

“I didn’t know at first what awards we’d won, and when I finally found out, I thought it was pretty great. To have as many as eight is pretty good.” — Milk director Gus Van Sant, who received a best-director nomination for the film.

___

“I am overjoyed by these nominations and deeply grateful that the Academy has embraced the music of this film. Slumdog Millionaire has paid magical dividends for so many people around the globe. I am deeply honored to be a part of a film that has inspired so many.” — A.R. Rahman, nominee for original score and original song.

___

“I’m delighted for Kate. I think she did two astonishing performances in Revolutionary Road and in The Reader. Whichever one the Academy went for, I think it’s her year. I think it’s her turn. I think that it’s wonderful for her, but I do think she’s done two astonishing performances.” — Stephen Daldry, director of The Reader. Winslet received a best-actress nomination for her role in that film.

___

“I’m extremely happy to have been nominated. And very fortunate. Playing Hanna Schmitz will always remain one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever been blessed with. I’m genuinely thrilled not just for myself but for the wonderful Stephen Daldry and David Hare. These nominations are a testament to their unwavering commitment to this film. And I’m also very happy for all the people in Germany whose hard work on `The Reader’ has been rewarded by these nominations. Surely Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack are smiling down on us today!” — Kate Winslet, best-actress nominee for The Reader.

Angelina is not only beautiful she is talented as well

Rarely for someone beautiful to have brains and talent as well. Congratulations brad and angie

Congratulations to A & B! It is nice to be recognized for one’s hard work. Hope the voters do not bypass Angie again, it’s no fault of hers to be born beautiful. Brad’s film is really great, I saw it this week in the US. Don’t know when it will be shown in Europe.
God bless their family!

Don’t think Angie will win this year, I reckon it’s going to Meryl or Anne…probably Meryl. Of course I could also see Kate winning it but then I’d feel that was more because she’s been nominated & lost out so many times before rather than for this particular performance. I’m actually really pleased with most of this year’s actresses noms as I wouldn’t mind any of them winning, there isn’t one actress I look at & go ‘ooh they shouldn’t win it’. But yeah my brain says it’s Anne’s or more likely Meryl’s.

bwahahahha i bet a lot of screaming at the ocean happening in the Malibu right now. Maybe

that’s the reason why Norman the dog was trying to escape X . .. there must be a lot of

furniture crashing and vase throwing whenever the X see the POWER COUPLE walking on the red

carpet while SHE’s all alone w/o her peeboy bwahahahhahaha..POOR, POOR, PITIFUL X she so

badly wants to walk on the RC LMAOOO!!
.
+++++++++++++++++
.
Nah, X isn’t kicking and screaming and throwing vases. She’s plotting her revenge - Marley Returns (from the dead)! She’s drunk dialing John - Grogan not Mayer. She’s asking him why his damned dog had to go and die, preventing sequels to HER box office triumph! I’m sure she thinks Angie killed Marley years ago because she knew that one day X would play 3rd fiddle in the movie of the dog’s life.
.
So X is sitting in her 10,000 square foot mansion, all by her lonesome cuz Norman and Dolly went into hiding when they saw the ganja and coke coming out of the wall safe. They knew there was an impending Pity Party and headed for the hills. So there sits X - just her and her stash, a pitcher of Rita’s at her elbow, coming up with scenarios for bringing Marley back from the dead…
.
1. Marley wasn’t really dead. Stefano DiMera had drugged himto make him looked dead, then after the funeral, dug Marley up, kidnapped him and held him hostage on a deserted island for 5 years while everyone assumed Marley was dead. (That’s a little Days of Our Lives humor for X…)
.
2. Marley was only PLAYING DEAD…cuz he’s just a rambunctious little pup like that…
.
3. It was a case of mistaken identity. It was actually Marley’s cousin Harley that died.
.
4. Marley dying was just a dream. (Hey, it worked for Bobby Ewing!)
.
5. Marley has been cloned. Knowing Marley was buying the farm, the Grogans had some of his sperm frozen and they used it to impregnate Carly, a female golden labrador. Now Carly has given birth and Marley lives on in his son Ziggy. (That’s a nod to the Star mag AND Ziggy Marley, son of Bob Marley.)
.
Don’t laugh - X is stealing my ideas and calling up Ron Meyer at Uni right now!

Thursday morning Springfield native Brad Pitt received his second Oscar nomination for playing the lead role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. KSMU’s Nathan McVay talked with Brad’s brother, Doug, after the nomination was announced.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button led all films with 13 Oscar nominations, but one nomination holds special significance to the Springfield area.

Brad Pitt was nominated in the category of Best Actor. His brother, Doug Pitt was very excited to hear about the nomination, but wouldn’t say whether he was surprised.

“Let’s just say we were hopeful. But again, it’s a nice pat on the back. The movie stands on its own. But, what a great honor, for he, and Angie both,” he said.
..

Brad’s wife, Angelina Jolie was nominated as well for her performance in Changeling. Doug Pitt says he is very happy to see them both receive the praise they deserve.

“We are excited for both of them. I think they are both great at what they do. Great people, and I am just glad they got the recognition,” he said.

I asked Pitt if his brother wins the Oscar, will he come back to Springfield and show it around town?
..

“Ha, no, I think he will turn around and get back to work,” he said.
..

Pitt was nominated in 1996 for Best Supporting Actor in 12 Monkeys but lost out to Kevin Spacey for his performance in The Usual Suspects.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is an unusual portrait of a man whose mind ages normally but whose body ages backwards. For KSMU News, I’m Nathan McVay.

She is an amazing actress. Will be interesting to see who wins.
