Angelina Jolie Reacts To Oscar Nomination
Celebs have released reactions to nominations for 2009 Academy Awards via AP. Here’s a quick sampling:
“Working with Clint Eastwood was a reward in itself that will last me a lifetime. To receive a nomination from the Academy on top of that is a privilege beyond any expectation. It has been an exceptional year for acting, and I am honored to be in the company of these talented actors whose performances all deserve this recognition.” — Angelina Jolie, best-actress nominee for Changeling.
“It is such a thrill to be recognized in this category with these remarkably talented women. I was with my parents and my dog when I got the news and we were all overjoyed — although I’m not sure my dog knew what was going on. This is a great day to be an actress!” — Anne Hathaway, best-actress nominee for Rachel Getting Married.

REACTIONS TO OSCAR NOMS
“I am so honored to be nominated for a film in which I am so proud and to be included with such a wonderful and talented group of women. It was an honor to work with [director Darren Aronofsky] and the rest of the cast and crew of The Wrestler. Congratulations to Mickey [Rourke], for an extraordinary performance.” Marisa Tomei, best supporting actress nominee for The Wrestler. Rourke received a best-actor nomination for his role in that film.
___
“It’s everything that you could possibly imagine it is, and not that I needed the nomination to know I was on the right path, but it certainly helps. It really does.” — Viola Davis, supporting-actress nominee for Doubt.
___
“I couldn’t have imagined anything like this a couple years ago. You just do your work and are happy you’re able to make some money. This is very, very special, especially because of the movie. It wasn’t that I read this character and said, `I have to do this character.’ It was more about the movie.” — Josh Brolin, supporting-actor nominee for Milk.
___
“I didn’t know at first what awards we’d won, and when I finally found out, I thought it was pretty great. To have as many as eight is pretty good.” — Milk director Gus Van Sant, who received a best-director nomination for the film.
___
“I am overjoyed by these nominations and deeply grateful that the Academy has embraced the music of this film. Slumdog Millionaire has paid magical dividends for so many people around the globe. I am deeply honored to be a part of a film that has inspired so many.” — A.R. Rahman, nominee for original score and original song.
___
“I’m delighted for Kate. I think she did two astonishing performances in Revolutionary Road and in The Reader. Whichever one the Academy went for, I think it’s her year. I think it’s her turn. I think that it’s wonderful for her, but I do think she’s done two astonishing performances.” — Stephen Daldry, director of The Reader. Winslet received a best-actress nomination for her role in that film.
___
“I’m extremely happy to have been nominated. And very fortunate. Playing Hanna Schmitz will always remain one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever been blessed with. I’m genuinely thrilled not just for myself but for the wonderful Stephen Daldry and David Hare. These nominations are a testament to their unwavering commitment to this film. And I’m also very happy for all the people in Germany whose hard work on `The Reader’ has been rewarded by these nominations. Surely Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack are smiling down on us today!” — Kate Winslet, best-actress nominee for The Reader.

I would hate to be standing next to Anne Hathaway, like Angie is. Anne looks young and fresh, whereas Angie just looks old and bitter

TY JJ;)
Not really that impressed with AJ’s acting ability. Now Brad however might really deserve his Oscar. He is the only one that can act in that family.
Thanks for the links to the pics, guli. Love Brad in his grey suit. Love Angie’s coat, not too crazy about the messy hair.

To those making comments about Anne and Angie side by side, actually I was surprised at Anne’s look, it was like the “before” in The Princess Diaries. Isn’t she about seven years younger than Angie?

Hey, just because they got nominated doesn’t mean they will win. The academy just wanted to see Angie’s c.u.n.t.t face again after Anne won the Critics Choice Awards away from Angie…. cause that is really the only acting she can do…….hahahahahaha

Me Too! Didn’t you just love her in Get Smart? She has come a long way since her Pricess Diary’s. The girl has acting chomps. And Yes by all means, Kate Winslet is a fab actress, I think between the two of them the Oscar is sewn up! All of the other nominee’s pale in comparison to Anne and Kate!

Nililah, don’t worry about Val, she is an a.s.s. This is the internet and anyone can post here. You go ahead and post your opinions and let the rest go fly a kite.
Congratulations to Brad and Angie for your nominations. It’s been quite a year for your family. It shows that good things happen to those with good hearts.
Congratulations to the Jolie-Pitt for the Oscar nods. They deserved it. Something to look forward to next month. I’ve seen their pictures in Paris for the CCBB . Angie & Brad with their matching color Gray. WOW. I hope to see the video soon. God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
It’s definitely a great time for the Jlie Pitts. Their nominations are well deserved.. I wish, I wish both of them will win… however, I couldn’t help but believe ….whoever said it at the Globes to KW .. make a HoIocaust movie and you will get an award.
don’t want to start any inappropriate or ugly discussions but ……
the last time Angelina was wearing coats at a lot of RCs, she was.. ehem…..
plus her last 3 outfilts at Rcs were…. oh boy…. got to go!

I agree with you. Why does JA always have to be brought up in the arguements? AJ and BP stand on their own, they don’t need JA being brought up in defense of them.
Remenber these are just jealous haters.Don’t let them bother A & B fans. They are hurting because all the crap they put on Angie, she is still better than the X and it makes hater violently ill.So forget them.
Why was Brad Pitts pants unzipped in the earlier BB promotion pics with the director? And why didn’t anybody tell him?
