OlderOscar Nominations 2009 List
Forest Whitaker and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis announce the nominations for the 2009 Academy Awards held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Wednesday (January 22) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button picked up the most honors, racking up 13 noms including best pic. Slumdog Millionaire followed with 10 nods.
Brad Pitt earned a Best Actor nomination (Benjamin Button) and Angelina Jolie picked up a nod for Best Actress (Changeling). Heath Ledger was nominated for Supporting Actor on the one-year anniversary of his death for The Dark Knight.
The Oscar ceremony will be hosted by Hugh Jackman on February 22 at LA’s Kodak Theater.

I can’t believe Rabid Hens still think Maniston is a member of the Academy.
She was ONLY invited that one year. LOL She wishes.
Out of all Maniston movies, none has ever been nominated at the Oscars.

Bodyguard Mickey caught Brad and Angelina shagging in a trailer 3 weeks after M&M Smith started shooting. She used all kinds of kinky stuff to lure Brad to her side. I am new to gossip bIogs and all but I am wondering what is with all of these comments? I thought this thread was about the oscar nominees and not how fabulous the Jolie-Pitts are. I have nothing against them but you guys act like you are worshiping at the foot of Jesus and Mary themselves. They are not saints and are not any better than any of you besides maybe in the looks department. Live your lives and feel good about yourselves. No need to worship these people who are first and foremost actors with pretty faces whose careers are fueled by calculated P.R. moves. Wooh people!
P.S. What is with all the hate towards Jennifer Aniston? I mean this whole “feud” thing is perpetuated by the media. Why do you have to hate on one to like the other? I mean sure she made some comments about Angelina but do you blame her? Even if she wanted to forget about the past the media won’t let her. Ok, I am done.

I didn’t forget. Brad didn’t have as much at stake as Leo did. The ass he and Brad Grey handed the movie off to - Graham King - didn’t even mention Brad in his acceptance speech. Brad Grey barely got a mention either after his failed campaigned to have his name added to the producer list for that movie. Both Brads did all the grunt work to make that movie happen and neither got thanked or acknowledged. So, no, I didn’t forget about The Departed. Leo would have benefitted from a Best Actor win a hell of a lot more than Brad would have as a producer.

cmr - obviously you didnt see the “interviews” Winslet gave in the british press - to quote her ” i wouldnt want the life that ange is leading, i am a very private person etc etc etc” - you can imagine the rest - just what “life” is ange leading??? she is looking after her kids and partner, she is acting when she can, she never leaves the kids unless her or brad are around, so what gives winslet the right to say anything about ange’s life??? she was drumming up publicity at ange’s expense, and to me that is CHEAP

CATHY, here’s a little clue about people like angie and kate and brad as well as the grande dames and sirs of HW, like streep and clint and de niro, etc. : Know what they have in common? They dont play the HW game. In fact, they know the game inside out and so they know how not to get played. They know how empty and fleeting and meaningless the HW game is.

But they are also not in the business of biting the hand that feeds them - they know that HW is where they have the best deal………..that is, earning a fabulous living by doing something they absolutely love (being an artist/telling stories/offering up cathartic, human experiences of Others to the rest of us, etc.).

When kate said ‘i wouldnt want the life that ange is leading,’ etc., understand that she said it in the way that the rest of us would say it. that is, with AWE that Angie manages to bear the intrusive, relentless and scathingly critical microscope that she is placed under, by people who only want to build you up so they can gleefully tear you down.

Kate is highly aware of that game. She wouldnt want it for herself. The little bit of it that she gets, is apparently much more than she can bear. So she has great admiration for Angie who handles it all with such GRACE and APLOMB.

Look, i’m not even a fan of kate and i really have no interest in defending her. But I respect all the HW players who, by their utterances, show that they genuinely admire, respect and even envy Angie’s obvious ability to rise above the HW vultures’ games (cough*huvane*cough*) And so, in return, i respect them.
But for the record, my only interest in a celebrity blog like JJ is BRAD and ANGELINA.
I’m so sick of the Brangelina drama. Changeling was BORRRING and Angelina over-acted her character… the movie was a waste of time since the trailer told us the whole story. Ben Button was good and so was Brad, so I agree that Brad earned this nomination.
Heath Ledger’s nomination is so deserving…what a bittersweet day for his family.
