OlderNicole Kidman: G’Day Australia!
Nicole Kidman keeps close to director Baz Lurhmann at the G’Day Australia black tie gala (hosted by Jacob’s Creek) at New York City’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Friday (January 23).
At the event, Baz said that Nic had been quoted out of context.
“It’s been universally reported that she didn’t like the picture,” Baz said. “Forget nastiness, it’s just a lie. [She's a] great artist. It’s disappointing in our country that you have to put up with a lot of rubbish – people who just knowingly set out to be destructive when they know it’s not true. It will probably be the No. 2 or No. 3 biggest Australian movie of all times.”
And how cute is Baz holding up Brandon Walters, who plays one the aboriginal boys in Australia?

Its a shame they procured the amount of press coverage for this event under false listings as Ms. Kidman was not made available to the press line - essentially wasting the time of dozens of folks for their own politics! and you still publicize it!

Nicole looks really fresh, natural and happy. I am not the biggest fan of the dress although it shows of her endless legs, which are absolutely to die for.
But I love the fact that she has strawberry-blonde/ red hair.
I think her comments were twisted and sensationalized…when I read them, it was pretty clear to me that she was just uncomfortable watching her own performance - in ANY movie. She did say that the only other performance of hers she’s ever watched is Moulin Rouge, because she felt she owed it to Baz Luhrmann. She didn’t say she disliked the movie, she said she hated watching herself.
I worked in radio for years and still cringe at the sound of my own voice on tape.

G’day mates!! Australia week is a cool event for all things Aussie..Nic and Baz are always doing their part to honor their country. She does look good here although the black is a bit too black.. guess i have been getting used to seeing that oyester/gray color on everyone.

Hubby was back in Nashville with Sunday Rose. This is the best she’s looked in a long time. I LOVE that dress and her reddish hair.

Of course, I wish she would drop the lip fillers a bit…she doesn’t need them and they take away from her beauty.

I loved “Australia”. Nicole didn’t look “frozen” in it as some bloggers claimed. Those bloggers just spread lies and people believe them. The movie was beautiful and some of the scenes (the rounding of the herd per example) were breathtaking. Nicole did a great job, so did the little boy. As for HJ, I had a few gasps whenever he appeared in the film . I am surprised “Australia” didn’t get any Oscar nominations. Go see it, it’s worth your time and money.
Their is nothing wrong with a woman wanting to look good as she ages especially in Hollywood. But I have to say NK has taken it a bit to far with the botox and the fat lips. She looks way over done and she does have grey hair now. Maybe she should give up all the wigs and hair pieces and just go short and grey like Lady Judy Dench.

Nicole is a beautiful woman. Wonder what her critics look like? Could be there is some envy causing their obvious petty comments? After seeing the movie Australia, I was completely confused, the movie was wonderful, enjoyed every minute . Many of Nicole’s comments have been completely taken out of context. The Australian media has not been kind to this movie, but especially to her. It seems that some so called journalist simply don’t want to give her any credit for her incredible beauty or acting abilities. Thankfully, she is so happy in her personal life that all this negativity just isn’t relative.

so glad that Baz addressed the lies, misquotes, out-of-context writings, and just nasty things that Nic has had to endure lately which have been so unfair. I really think those untrue things kept some from seeing a super great movie, and what a shame!!

“Australia” was one of the nicest movies I have seen. I am an avid movie goer so I feel I have a feeling for good movies. “Australia” got a bad rap by the critics, but if I listened to the critics I would not see too many movies. It is probably not an Oscar movie, but it was a GREAT movie. Regarding the quote===== what a shame. I read the original statement from Nicole and she did not say what the media said. They construed her comments to make bad publicity. US magazine had a cute picture of Nicle and Sunday and then totally screwed up what Nicole said. When my subsciption expires, I will not be renewing US magazine. I knew it was a rag, but not a low rag. Nicole is a very fine actress, a sophisticated woman, a beautiful wife and mother. So sad people get their ‘jollies’ tearing down a good person.

Nicole does not criticize or attack people no matter what they do to her…even if they’ve hurt her deeply. I have never seen anything in her interviews that indicates she is criticizing anyone. One of her co-stars (Paul Bettany) describes her as “an angel” . Too bad some of the journalists and internet posters and bloggers attack her so viciously as I have heard many very positive comments about her from people who actually know her.
