Orlando Bloom: Sympathy for Delicious!
Orlando Bloom looks a big grungy, sporting a shaggy new wig and a hole-y t-shirt on the set of his new movie, Sympathy for Delicious, on Tuesday (January 27) in Los Angeles.
The film is about a newly paralyzed DJ (Christopher Thorton), who gets more than he bargained for when he seeks out the world of faith healing. The dramedy is being directed by Mark Ruffalo, who has starred in films like The Brothers Bloom, 13 Going on 30 and Reservation Road.
WHAT DO YOU THINK or Orly’s shaggy new do — HOT or NOT?

Orlando is very handsome!!!
I never said you were wrong about anything ….. i was just simply voicing my opinion …… just because I think he looks diffferent ….. does not mean I think he looks bad …… the look thru me for a loop is all ….. this is the first time he’s worn a wig since LOTR days…… it makes his face look different is all …. i am very intrigued to see what the character is like on the inside ….. and that is not something you can tell just from pics …… Thank you for the info about the films.
Go Orlando!!! + work - s***.
Frodo?
He looks good. I see the whiners have already made up their minds, though. They’ll probably try to say this is proof he’s really Osama bin Laden and it’s all Miranda’s fault or some other wanky conspiracy theory. JJ always has the best loons.
He isn’t being “forced to do low profile/indie movies”, he is choosing to do them. The list of his projects in the works are all indie films. He has so much money in the bank that he will never be “forced” to do anything. The projects that he is choosing to do all involve respected directors and actors. It’s not like he has signed on to be in a movie with Paris Hilton. He is/will be working with actors like Mark Ruffalo, Juliet Lewis, Laura Linney, Liam Neeson, Chow Yun Fat, and Javier Bardem. Are they “low profile”? No. It’s the quality of the story that is attracting them, not the big money. Indie films are respected in the industry. It’s too bad that some members of the public aren’t as educated. A movie doesn’t have to earn a billion at the box office to be admired by the people that matter in the business.
I am really looking forward to this film.
I think that he looks amazing!
I’ve always loved longer hair on him. I’m just imagining ‘Shy’ in all his fury, at a microphone. *faints*
There are even more set pics on OLove. He is definitely wearing eye liner, and Sidi is with him. Juliet Lewis is also in some of the pictures.
“It’s always good to make a comeback movie which will be a box office hit…”
Tell that to Mickey Rourke.
The Wrestler will never make a lot of money at the box office, but Mickey has made one of the best comebacks in recent memory. Sure RBJ’s comeback in a box office hit was wonderful. But Mickey’s comeback was even better IMO.
Besides, Orlando doesn’t really need a “comeback”. Based upon recent polls, he never left.
James Franco dropped out because the film was put on hold indefinitely following Scott Ruffalo’s death and now James (so I read anyway) has committed himself to other projects. And as much as I like both James and Orlando, I think this is a wonderful opportunity for Orlando to try something completely out of character (for him) from what anyone would expect him to do. I agree, every film an actor signs on for doesn’t have to be a ‘CGI wonder’ or a huge blockbuster at the box office to earn critical respect. In fact the smaller independent films often make better showcases allowing an actor to ‘prove’ himself where individual abilities are concerned. I think he’s wise to choose something different right now.
DEFINITELY NOT
Don’t worry, there is this magic little thing called editing and small supporting roles portrayed weakly are easiest to trim. Lewis will probably become more featured as” the rocker”. Yes, Bloom will yet again ride the coattails of better, more accomplished and well regarded actors and his fans will yet again spin any of the movie’s success into being all because of him.
LOL at all of these casual on set “pap” shots! And the return of Sidi too! Just what all the little fangirls ordered. The gf ain’t anywhere around now, so guess you can’t blame her for the phone calls this time huh? Nice job Robin.
Definitely not what?
And the bitter hags from Delphi just keep a comin’!
So, Sidi is now a prop, and the paps have no interest in Orlando on set? Is that what you are trying to say?
Bitter, party of one.
You know the names of his dog and his manager, so I would assume that you are a sad little former fan who became bitter when you realzed that he will never be yours. Poor thing.
I think that “spin” is your specialty.
#60 is correct. Fans can’t accept the fact that orlando is not capable of being the lead actor, just a pretty face. I’m not a fan of leo, but honestly, he has the real acting chops among his generation.
Right, he’s called the paps to get out of a studio showing slightly his head to look both sides and to cover his face with an umbrella. Stop trying so hard to be seen, Mr. Bloom!
Of course, when Orlando is snapped with his gf, his PR team have staged the pics and haven’t bothered to check his fans’ reaction to her, but when he’s snapped with the dog, that’s because they have studied deeply his fans’ reaction to his dog. LOL!
I guess that some people get an itch all around their body if Orlando’s fans show enthusiasm about him. Bitter, that’s the right word.
Go Orlando!
Just because he so far hasn’t been able to pull of the lead actor thing, doesnt mean he never will. If he keeps working on indi movies like this one and learns from good, respectable actors, who knows, one day he might.
I hope you’re being sarcastic, because the statements in that link about Ruffalo’s “charity” in giving Orlando the role, Laura Linney “acting circles around Orly’s pretty (but useless) little ass” and how “watching him sometimes is almost as embarrassing as reality tv” are not exactly “celebration”. Accurate, but not celebrating.
We think that Orlando needs to be givien a chance. Let’s see the movie before judgments are made as to whether or not he can pull this off. This movie may be just what he needs.
@65 Seems to us that you have been reading all of the fan sites for Orlando. That takes time and then you come here and pass judgment. and make fun of his fans. We wonder who really is the bitter person.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned
Yeah, bitter, homely Lainey is really the person to be taken seriously when it comes to Orlando. She has an unnatural fixation with him, and always tries to sling mud. She is a pathetic, sad woman.
Like #70 said… hell hath no fury.
If anything, mark Ruffalo is kissing Orlando’s feet for agreeing to be in his film. Ruffalo obviously knows talent when he sees it, and also knows that Orlando will bring a TON of attention to his movie.
Lainey is an idiot.
There are men who don’t take rejection too well, either. We don’t know what Lainey or any other gossip columnist really feels underneath their comments, but negative remarks about an actor do not necessarily mean that the person making them feels rejected. They may feel disappointed or disgusted, for all anybody knows. Or they may feel that the reality of the performer doesn’t match the hype, or that he or she misrepresented themselves.
It’s quite possible that Orlando has had to deal with rejection in his life, too, as he’s human.
marc and kriz, I agree about giving Bloom a chance to show what he can do with the role he’s been given. It’s up to the actor to make creative choices and be able to respond to direction. I don’t personally see him as leading man material and never have, but as a supporting player, he’s been adequate. I thought he did extremely well in “Ned Kelly.” Liked him in “Midsommer Murders,” too.
@60
A press photographer may be called in by the production company or studio publicity department to do a job, and the actors and crew would be made fully aware of such an arrangement. Films need publicity and on set still photographers are nothing new and have nothing to do with Robin Baum or any other actor’s PR department. This isn’t ALL about Orlando Bloom, contrary to what some people here may think.
@63, the bitter old hag and jealousy cards have been used and played by ‘both sides’ ad nauseum. It’s time to put that deck away. People feel what they feel, believe what they believe and see what they see. We can all agree to disagree without assuming (best not to assume things about people whom we don’t know unless we have proof and facts to back up those assumptions) what other posters real motives and thoughts are. Not everyone is impressed with Bloom, and he’s burned some bridges along the way with his fans. Those fans are entitled to their feelings and perceptions. I wouldn’t take their feelings or their posts personally.
@72
Perfect just perfect! Congrats
Lainey is not your normal gossip columnist. She seems to have a personal vendeta.
In one of her early posts, she tried to convince everyone that Orlando had come on to her, but she rejected him….as he climbed into a car with three beautiful young women. really lainey?? People were laughing at her.
She IS bitter.
As for the fans. If Orlando “burned bridges”, it was only with fans that held him to standards that would have been impossible to live up to. He isn’t a Saint. And some fans will never forgive him for that. They are, indeed entitled to their opinion, I just don’t understand their compulsion to keep visiting threads about him. That can’t be good for their psche.
Orlando managed to make it onto a set and into hair and makeup. Perhaps he learned his lesson from his last f#ck-up and won’t get kicked off this movie.
