Swimming champ Michael Phelps smokes from a bong during a weekend filled with smoking weed and chugging booze, reports UK’s News Of The World.
“You could tell Michael had smoked before,” the paper’s source revealed. “He grabbed the bong and a lighter and knew exactly what to do. He looked just as natural with a bong in his hands as he does swimming in the pool. He was the gold medal winner of bong hits. Michael ended up getting a little paranoid, though, because before too long he looked like he was nervous and ran out of the place.”
The 23-year-old Olympic champion’s team reportedly tried to bribe NOTW not to run this bong picture because the Olympic champion could potentially lose all of his endorsement deals. Phelps has won a record 14 gold medals.

He got a slap in the wrist for his DUI, but he may not be so lucky this time around. The guy is an idiot. All the money he has coming in from endorsements, and he puts himself in a situation where he could lose it.

Besides, they can’t file charges against him for these pics, for all anyone can prove there was regular tobacco in the bong. BEIJING, China (CNN) — Having completed his Olympics gold rush, U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps is now poised to make another haul — this time of the endorsement variety.
Phelps already is collecting about $5 million a year in endorsement checks from companies like Visa — payments that came after he won six gold medals during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
His performance in Beijing, where he won a record eight gold medals, puts him in line to earn much more.
“He may be at $30, $40, $50 million a year in endorsements after all this is said and done,” said David Harrow of the National Sports Lawyers Association.

As you know, he’s not a citizen of Amsterdam. So that’s irrelevant. You are correct that he won’t face charges, but again, that’s not the point. The bottom line is that he was snapped partaking in a substance that is illegal. As for it possibly being tobacco, come on. Anyone can see through a lame excuse, should he try to say that.
We are in complete agreement that he he’s a fool for getting photographed. He should know better. And he should suffer some consequence for being that stupid. And that consequence should come in the form of losing some endorsement coin.
First it was a DUI, and now this. It’s a pattern of idiotic behavior, plain and simple. Boy deserves to be smacked upside his head.

And the remarked about Michael Phelps not wanting to be a role model, are you sure about that? It’s not like he would win biggest jerk Olympian if there was a list made up by a sports magazine. If Michael Phelps wasn’t possibly considered a role model, I doubt there would be so much media paying attention to him and his actions, and promotional deals.
And really, there are some things in life that are out of your control. But if he’s doing something like he is in the photo, this is not one of them.
