Michael Phelps Apologizes For Smoking Pot
Olympic great Michael Phelps has apologized for smoking marijuana.
In a statement released to The Associated Press, Phelps said, “I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”
Yesterday, UK tabloid News of the World published the bong picture of the swimmer, who won a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Games.
No word on whether or not Phelps has been released from his multi-million dollar endorsement deals.

If Michael Phelps were your everyday guy, no one would be making excuses for him. People who do milder things get much more crap than he’s getting for something illegal. Not to mention he has a past record of getting into trouble. Don’t be fooled, he’s not sorry for doing it, he’s just sorry for getting caught. That doesn’t mean he’s going to stop, it just means he’s going to be more careful about who he’s around while getting high.
And it’s amazing that everyone is willing to simply shrug it off because of who he is, or because “everyone” does it, despite the fact that people less than half his age look up to him. And yes, younger people can and are heavily influenced by the things he does, even if their parents play an active role in their lives.

I couldn’t care less…in fact, I pretty much assumed he was smoking up and getting any number of ****** that throw themselves at him. He just seems like that kind of guy. And I’m not about to judge him for that.
What I want to know is where the heck are these picture takers when he is getting it on in random bedroom during these college house parties. That’s what we want to see!!!

He’s a 22 year old boy who traded his childhood for medals. This was inevitable given his behavior - blowing off steam. He should apologize and take his lumps. Then he needs to get some counseling to figure out how he is going to handle the rest of his life…..
Geez, amazing how fast those who have their fingers in his money pie got to him with a canned apology for him to give out. I will await news about his endorsements. I hope they cut him off, but possibly this will save his bank account and those who want to depend on it.

His body is sleek and shapely, no doubt about it, but the guy who said he looks like a sloth is right. He has a flat head and his face looks like some dumb hillbilly nerd.
#12 - I highly doubt an 8 year old is suddenly going to pick up a bong because Phelps did it. Like I said above, there are worse things he could have been doing. We Americans get so hysterical over the stupidest things!

The last time I heard It is still ILLEGAL. And in addition, just because you’re 23 doesn’t give you an excuse to break the law — he is supposed to be an adult but he certainly doesn’t act like one.
