Michael Phelps Apologizes For Smoking Pot
Olympic great Michael Phelps has apologized for smoking marijuana.
In a statement released to The Associated Press, Phelps said, “I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”
Yesterday, UK tabloid News of the World published the bong picture of the swimmer, who won a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Games.
No word on whether or not Phelps has been released from his multi-million dollar endorsement deals.

He wasn’t shooting up, or smoking crack… Thats the stuff that addicts do. How many drug addicts make it to the olympics? Zero.
Weed is something that millions of people do regularly to relax, same with having a beer after work, without negative consequences.
The only stupid thing he did was not being careful about who he was doing it around. Obviously he wasn’t around friends if someone snapped that shot just to sell it to the tabloids and make a few bucks.
I don’t condone pot use, nor do I condemn it… But it sure as hell is no biggie.

Okay, first of all, he’s smoking pot, not shooting up for chrissakes. Second of all, so many more americans smoke pot than a lot of people realize. Yes, he’s a role model for millions of kids, but at the same time, it’s not like he went on national television and lit up a joint. He didn’t ask for that picture to be taken and shown to the world… and as far as the whole “i hope an 8 year old doesn’t think he can do things that older people do” comment, children are parrots. They like to do what they see other people doing, especially older people. You can’t just say “I know that may look like fun, but it’s not for kids, only adults… ” and actually expect kids to listen… you have to be more proactive than that. Oh yeah, and YES I do believe that an 8 year old can and WILL get his or her hands on pot if they want to. Anyone who thinks it won’t happen has never read any statistics on kids doing drugs.
Ok Please is just pot. Everyone smokes pot this day. Even my teachers smoke pot. I see old people hitting the pipe so common. Pot is going to be legalize any way one day. And Role models should be parents or a family member not a man who swims for a living. His human too. Just like the rest of us. If you dont want your kids to smoke then teach them something. Any ways there is going to be a time where they are going to make their own choices. it could be prevented but is not going to be by punishing Phepls.
You Go right ahead and smoke all the pot you want.

If he was drinking a beer in that pic not one person would think twice. Hes just doing what he feels like doing. Cannabis is not bad for most people to smoke. On the FDA scale of danger for substances Cannabis is 10,000 time safer then Childrens Tylenol. People get a clue, Just say no to Alcoholism. Most importantly, do the resarch on Cannabis before you judge the poeple that use it. CANNABIS HAS SAVED LIFES, HOW CAN IT BE A BAD THING ON OUR EARTH.

This will be argued 2 ways just like always.
1. The people who are anti-pot (like me) will say he’s a moron.
2. The pot-heads (most of you) will say “who cares” and my favorite “relax”.
A guy who wins the most gold for our country is no better than the common smelly pot-head whose house smells like cat -pee.
