OlderDev Patel is The Last Airbender
Slumdog Millionaire star, Dev Patel waits for his limo after a meeting at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Saturday (January 31).
According to Variety, the 18-year-old British actor has been cast in Avatar: The Last Airbender, the Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Films live-action flick based on a Nick TV series. Because of scheduling conflicts, Dev replaced Jesse McCartney as Zuko, a member of the Fire Nation, .
In the director’s seat is M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs). “Jesse had tour dates that conflicted with a boot camp I always hold on my films, and where the actors here have to train for martial arts,” Shyamalan said. “[Dev was] already one of the guys I was interested in. Then I saw Slumdog Millionaire, and the kid just grew in my eyes.”

So Shyamalan knew him fom his work on “SKINS” too? As far as I know that´s the only work he´s done before.
Hm, nice that he gets a chance to do other stuff.(though, who would have thought that he would beat Nicholas Hoult)
I think it’s not right to get someone for Zuko who has an indian accent. No offense..

well atleast he finally has someone that can look the part of Zuko compared to Jesse…I mean seriously … Shyamalans work has been going down the tube for years. The fact he got mostly if not all white actors from the start for a movie based on a series that is multi cultural was a bad sign. Hopefully we’ll see some more replacements due to ’scheduling’. Not that I dont’ think Jackson Ratheborne wouldnt be great but some of the other choices are horrible. Movies based on popular franchises should atleast attempt to stay close to the source material without alienating newer audiences. Unfortantely his ‘choice’ of actors alienats fans and when it releases would alienate everyone else like a really bad 80s style video game movie.
#2, Please do your research. Dev was born and grew up in London, hence he has British accent.

Dev Patel was terrific in both Skins and Slumdog; so happy we’ll get to see him in something else soon. It doesn’t hurt either that he’s fcking gorgeous. :)
I love him. He’s such a great actor. He was AMAZING in Skins and so was in Slumdog Millonaire. I’m sure he’ll do great in all the following movies he will work at.

or maybe a character from the show, idk its been ages since ive watched it
he’s pretty thin and tall to play Zuko. I’d just think that maybe he would gain weight or something. I just can’t see him doing it, but then I couldn’t imagine Jesse McCartney (blank stare) as Zuko either.
Why do i just not have such a good feeling about this movie? I really hope this is Night’s redemption. I mean “The Happening” was okay but Mark Wahlberg with a Boston accent living in Philly? Well, I digress…Please Night, do not screw this up.
What? This guy is going to be zuko? Look, he is WAY better in acting than jesse mcartney, but i think it would have been wise to cast someone who LOOKS the part, instead of just acting the part. Besides, isn’t zukos skin supposed to be LIGHTER than kataras? and no, that is NOT being rascits for those who like to play the race card at will.
Saw him on Leno …. he was ADORABLE!!! Love his British accent.
