Jessica Simpson rocks a Burberry newsboy cap as she lands in Cincinnati, Ohio on her way back to Dallas to see her boyfriend Tony Romo on Monday.
The 28-year-old country singer continues to receive attention for her fuller figure, which was first noted last week as she sang at the Chili Cookoff in Florida.
The Today Show’s Matt Lauer spoke to President Obama in a pre-Super Bowl interview and mentioned that him and his family were removed from the US Weekly’s cover shoot to make room for the hot topic of Jessica Simpson’s weight. Obama coyly responded, “Yeah, it’s a little hurtful!” Then he continued looking at the cover, saying [that Jessica is] “in a weight battle, apparently. Yeah. Oh well.”

Seriously. I think everyone is just blowing this WAY out of proportion.
It was stupid to even ask him about this. I imagine he was in an awkward place. What does one say about a woman’s weight?
This isn’t news. Obama was just reading exactly what was on the magazine’s cover. If the magazine had written “Jessica Simpson in a Legal Battle” then Obama would’ve said, “Apparently she is in a legal battle.” The weight comment wasn’t his own. I can’t believe Jessica Simpson wearing ugly jeans is a news story–that’s truly frightening.

That is NOT what he said. He did not just read the title. He said it looks like or apparently there’s a weight battle. That made it sound like he was commenting on her appearance and commenting on her photo. That’s how it sounded and looked to viewers who don’t read these stupid tabloids. Quite frankly I was kind of shocked he went there. I didn’t know he was even referring to a headline.

You want me to comment on the cover of a gossip magazine?” Or he could have just said nothing like an experienced pro would have done. Some of you people seem to be willing to distort the facts just to defend someone you like. If the president speaks and it takes all kinds of explanations to make it clear that he wasn’t insulting someone then the president clearly needs to be more diplomatic and careful in the future. Careless talk is what can start a war or sink a legislative battle. He needs to up his game.
He just read the headline that was covering his picture on the cover. He wasn’t making a comment on Jessica’s weight.
President O was just stating the obvious. I don’t think he cares about celebrities and mindless sh*t. He has bigger things on his mind (e.g. the economy) and that’s the last thing he’d ever care to think about.

Really should the POTUS be commenting on a womans weight gain. He must have a lot of time on his hands. It’s REALLY none of barry’s business what Jessica weighs. He probably didn’t even notice that the stunning (NOT) Michelle isn’t exactly a light weight. She looked just like Princess Di and Jackie O in that Beautiful gown (NOT).
This is the second time barry has taken shots at private citizens, someone should tell him only Castro’s allowed to do that.

If you bothered to watch the interview on The Today Show yourself yesterday, you’d see that you were totally wrong about how you reported this tidbit. Also, you wouldn’t even pose this question to the element here who unfortunately looks for anything negative to peg on our new president.
First of all, Matt Lauer showed him the cover of the Us Weekly magazine that featured a photo of Obama’s beautiful family, with him cut out. Lauer then asked him if he felt bad being left out of the cover for none other than Jessica Simpson. Obama jokingly reponded that he was sad about it and indicated that they felt it was more important to put her in his place on the cover because she’s “apparently fighting a weight problem.”
Obama probably doesn’t even know who that ditz is. And, he was merely reading the headline — as to its importance to the mag’s readers.
This whole thing is distracting from important news. It’s totally ridiculous.
Matt Lauer shouldn’t have even asked the question. But to his credit, he explained right afterward that Obama was merely reading the caption under Simpson’s picture. It wasn’t a commentary about how she looked in the picture. Period !! Case Closed !!

I see how many could see that as an attack towards Jessica because I had to read it a second time to realize he did NOT attack her. He merely meant it as an oh well if Jessica Simpson is having a weight problem, that’s her problem if she is. That was probably the first time he read the magazine headline, so that’s why he said Jessica has a wieght problem. Seriously PEOPLE, you have to give people the benefit of the doubt before you run with your conclusions.
