OlderKanye West: Devastated By Rihanna’s Situation
During his morning KIIS FM show, Kanye West spoke to Ryan Seacret about the altercation between Rihanna and Chris Brown. Here’s what the 31-year-old singer had to say:
“I saw them at Clive’s [the night before]. I know Rihanna a bit better because I went on tour with her and we really vibed out on a lot of creative ideas. With the touring, I gave all these reference of Graces Jones and Jean Paul-Goude. Back in the 80’s when pop stars just took it to a whole ‘nother level. I really feel that Rihannais so important to our culture and pop music. I feel like she is the most important artist in music and has the most potential. Her taste level at her age and the songs she does and her style and her performance and her voice.
“She has the potential to be the biggest artist of all time. In that sense, I feel like that’s my baby sis and I would do anything and everything not help her in any situation. I don’t want to speak too much on it but I was completely devastated by the concept of what I heard to the point that I Was completely devastated during my “American Boy” performance [with Estelle during the Grammys].
“It’s so devastating. As a person, I don’t care how famous she is or if she just worked at McDonald’s, that should never happen. It should never come to that place.”

Kanye West really spoke the truth on that one. I don’t think a woman deserves to be beaten. If in any occurence, a domestic issue arises and a female has a weapon - then something needs to be done but I prefer the male call the cops or leave the situation immediately. Other than that, I don’t think a woman deserves to be beaten because of a minor argument. Whatever they were arguing about was obviously irrelevant because now…these past couple of days - their images have been tarnished.
I have heard people call him a woman beater and her a jealous diva since this incident happened. I think people should just wait on the truth and stop speculating because they are the ones that truly know what happened.

I am devastated by this whole incident as I love Rihanna very much and like Chris only because he was associated with Rihanna (I have never followed too much about him).
I wish them both God speed from this situation and hope they can pick up the pieces and move on separately in their careers………..but I must add I am pretty pissed at Chris because causing bodily harm on a female is a big no no but perhaps he is not mature enough to think before he acts and it is a shame.
I hope Rihanna heals well and they both learn from their mistakes they are yet young.

This is a really sad situation for anyone but being in the public eye to such a degree that these two are and being as young as they are, it is going to be a long hard road to recovery.
STELLA - I am very sorry for your loss, I wish you and your family the best…But I also wanted to point out to you that this is indeed a very sad situation, it just so happens that these two are famous. All Kanye is doing is expressing his thoughts about someone he knows and cares about, it could have been his sister or mother. And like you, ironically Kanye lost a parent suddenly in a situation that could have been prevented as you stated, so if anyone understands how you might feel, its Kanye. Its better to focus on your similarities rather than your differences, maybe that will be a help to you in dealing with your loss.

If the allegations are true that it is indeed Rihanna the victim, she should put an end to this relationship which has not been publicised to the extent of ”branding” the couple and hence no proffessional strings attached to their relationship. Unlike Posh who could be cheated on a zillionth time and she would still kiss Beckham ass to to keep her name which give her nods and contracts in the biz. Must be devastating for Riri to let go if she loved Chris to bits. Chris is quiet on this one. #30 domestic violence happens in every race. Hopefully this is the first and last time Chris did this to Rihanna. Her lips were swollen a few weeks ago, I heard it was herpes, it could have also been a fit to the mouth. Thank you Kanye for your kind words. God bless Rihanna. Hope Chis gets the help needed for his violent temper. He needs to come clean, seek help and get his life back in order. It is so sad to see such wonderful young talent on both sides have such horrific outcomes.
It’s terrible what happened to Rihanna, but there is no way that the music she has done takes anything to “a whole ‘nother level.” She is an average pop star and nothing more in terms of her music. Kanye is so given to hyperbole that it is ridiculous.

my gay friends tell me this happens in the gay community a lot too and also happens to men (where women beat them up) but they are too embarrassed to admit to it. i hope this sheds light on all kinds of domestic violence. no one has the right to beat anyone like that. our laws need to be tougher too. do you know if a man beats a woman and if the cops show up at the house and the woman does not want to press charges, the guy gets to walk? if your DNA is on that bruised woman and we can prove that you did it then you did it. we have to take domestic violence more seriously. and young girls need to know that it starts with the first hit. and if he did it once, he will do it again. and families and friends need to speak out too.

I am not even a fan of Rihanna’s OR Kanye’s,but I sympathize with her, and for the first time, I actually agree with what Kanye said. What happened to your father is very devastating too..an accident that could’ve prevented is a shame. This story is alarming on two fronts: First, the altercation was alarming because Rhianna is so young to be victimized by domestic violence. I hope she gets out of the relationship. Second, Kanye’s comments are so out of line. He never fails to maybe incoherent, nonsensical comments. Rhianna is only popular because there is a tween audience who listens to her music and have parents who purchase her music. Outside of that audience, I don’t know anyone who thinks she is a great artist. Her voice is horrible and the music she sings to is forgettable and obnoxious. I am not much for pop with the exception of a few artists such as Gwen Stefani (who has proved with her band No Doubt that she has the ability to create high quality music) and Madonna, but he is delusional to think she is going to withstand the test of time and become one of the world’s biggest artists.

Honestly, I am very much against domestic violence but even I think people need to lay off Chris Brown until the full details are released. I’m not a huge fan of his but I have seen an interview where he talked about his stepdad beating his mom when he grew up, and how he would never treat a woman like that. Everyone makes mistakes and I think its wrong to judge so quickly and paint him as this woman-beating monster. He really seemed like he loves her and if this happened, I would bet it was the first and only time and that he really regrets it.

If you are the influence that you suggest. Please help her to understand the importance of working with the police on this matter. She has the influence to help millions of young women world-wide to wake up and walk away. I cannot only imagine the embarrasment she must be feel. But what others think about her is not about her–it’s about their reflections on their life stories. She can help so much. This may have happened because she has the opportunity to change things and she has the voice and fans to do it with. If she calls this love or supports him, then how can this world ever change? It would be hard to support her or her music– if she stops cooperating. She is already outted and the worst is over for her. Help her to see that perhaps she is the messenger that this planet needs so much. Especially the kids. Ike and Tina mean nothing to them. If she teaches them that abuse is acceptable I have no doubt that more boys like CB will take up the fight to beat a woman.

I thought I was the only one that thought Kanye was out of line (or out of his mind) when he said that about her being the the greatest artist of all time. The situation is unfortunate and all, but I was like WTF when I heard those words come out of his simple mouth.
