OlderHalle Berry’s Dinner Date
Halle Berry goes out on a dinner date with her boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, at Mr. Chow restaurant on Tuesday (February 10) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The 42-year-old actress graces the cover of the March 2009 issue of Essence and opens up about the different relationships in her life. Asked about dating Gabriel, Halle said, “I tried Black men. I tried. I married two Black men. You know I tried. I don’t hold all Black males responsible because of the two bad eggs I got. I even dated Black men after my last divorce, but this is just where I found love.”
Halle also shared about her baby Nahla, 11 months, and what she has learned through being a mom. “I thought I knew love before, but I never knew anything like this,” she said. “I would take a bullet for this child and think nothing of it. That’s a different kind of love.”

She wasnt the first black woman to win an oscar to me……..it was comedic during her speech claiming this and then a shot of her white mother.
Lets just claiming to be black benefited halle and obama.
Obama symbolized change because he was the stero white male president.

You are so right. I couldn’t have said it better myself! It’s amazing how white people suddenly want to “claim” black people who have white blood in them. If that’s the case, they need to claim about 90% of the blacks in this country since most have mixed ancestry. If Halle and Obama were the average person walking down the street, they would be viewed as black. They both have said that they experienced racism as black people. They have no problem with who they are, so why should anyone else? They are black…get over it!
NO ONE IS HATING ON HALLE JUST BECAUSE. Her comment to Essence was f*cked up period. If she had said it better like…”men are men…no matter the color.” Then I would not have a problem with her. I’M NOT HATING AND IT WAS HALLE that was irrational with her comment.

Obviously Halle’s “heart:” DOES see color otherwise she would not have EVEN mentioned how she has “tried with black men” — like that’s some kind of science experiment!
Her comment screams subconscious racism. She’s STONGLY implied that she is with Gabriel because he’s white therefore he will treat me better. Case closed!

Team Lara Croft YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY correct. Some white folks want to claim these individuals (Obama and Halle) because they are successful. But if Obama were robbing a bank right now the news would say “black man robs a bank.”
RACE IS A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT—PERIOD!! HAS BEEN SINCE DAY ONE. And for the record, if you want to get all specific about it…then there would barely be any full black people in this country. Over 80% of African-Americans have Native American blood. Furthermore, I find it actually disheartening that some white people make it there mission to take something positive from black people — for centuries “bi-racial” people have lived as black — we’re slaves, etc. — including people in my family — in fact halle and Barack wouldn’t even be ‘house slaves” — they are too dark to pass for white — with that THEY ARE BLACK like Langston Hughes, Frederick Douglas, etc…SORRY WHITE FOLKS — you can’t have this one…Although it looks like Halle (based on Essence) may be eager to go with you — so maybe you can have her!

Halle I believe in the article mentions how she plans to teach her daughter about her black heritage. so yes her daughter would have been a slave too…maybe in the house though. In fact, I believe Halle played a slave with a similar background in “Queen” — mother was half white and the father was a slave master.
THIS is the most beautiful couple in Hollywood!!!! Both are soo incredibly gorgeous and sexy….not to mention that Halle looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G for her age. Other starlets would only wish…

Satin: your comment is loaded and full of comments that hint to your issues rather than any racial issue. So Obama is a “whitened” black persona and that is why he was accepted? So is going to Harvard and Princeton a white thing? Is being a Senator being a white thing? Is being articulate and inspirational a white thing? Or did you mean his demeanor or his skin color? If that is the case, why is Martin Luther King - a dark skinned man who did not mince words and spoke in a Southern accent - why is he considered such a hero to so many white people? Was he “whitened” too? If Obama had married a white woman, claim his white identity only and associated with only “white” causes - I would think he would have had an easier time so you are off so much. That he chose to present himself as black, with black children and a black wife says he has chosen the road more difficult. How many stats throughout the campaign showed people were not voting for him because he was black.
And I am curious, if your theory holds, are Obama’s daughter’s white or black? Since he is “white” in your eye - what are they? And what point would you like a black person to start or stop claiming blackness or whiteness? Do you have a generational cut off? A color cut off? You know in the South, black people had to do the “paper bag” test to get into certain clubs. If they were darker than the paper bag - they did not get in. Would you like to use a paper bag? And like someone said above, if your theory holds then there are no blacks in America because stats show something like 90% of all black people have white ancestry - the slaveowners sure had a good time with their slaves!
And to school you further, race is a myth anyway. There was a study done on a man in Tibet and he had the same DNA with a South African tribesman - they were related. In reality we cannot know who truly is one race and not another without looking at DNA and then like I said, what is the cutoff? So in fact, we have to rely on people’s decision to define themselves racially. If someone tells me they are black - why would I argue with them? Why is it my place to do that?

Vince also represents her too. RE: Her comments in Essence, it’s nobody’s business who she choses or ends up with . She doesn’t owe anyone an explanation unless she’s still trying to convince herself and others. Her marriage comments are recycled from two years ago. It is what it is, whatever it is. Be happy.
