OlderChris Brown Releases Official Apology
Chris Brown has released the following statement via his spokesperson:
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds.”
Chris, 19, and his girlfriend Rihanna, 20, got into an altercation in Los Angeles on Feb. 8.

He “didn’t do that.” He is saying that he never said mean things or blamed her for the fight. He is really trying to stay out of jail. Well, this isn’t like when you break a neighbor’s window playing baseball in the street. That is an “I’m so sorry.” This is criminal behavior. When the police have to take pictures of the damage. Impound the car and dust it for fingerprints, take DNA from bites on the girls arm, and then he has to go to the police station with his high priced celebrity lawyer, that is not”an altercation.” He was out of control. If you cannot recognize that, if you can’t realize and respect that his own father and Rihanna’s father and even Chris himself are admitting he hit her,then you need an attitude adjustment, too. I am not coming back here.

Sorry not buying this last desperate attempt at SELF PRESERVATION! Has nothing to do with being remorseful, has all to do with saving his own ass. HE NEEDS REHABILITATION. . . IN JAIL!!!. I agree with Keiko, #12. I love Chris and I always will. I think his apology is great, considering how he can’t really get into details. None of us know what happened for sure, and the situation is sad, but there are always two sides to the story. He is only human.

It is so stupid to call the incident a “mistake”. He knew exactly what he was doing when he did it. You can learn from a mistake! Chris Brown is only speaking out because of his career. If this happened without the fame and press, surely he’d apologize to his girlfriend and then beat on her again whenever the moment struck him. There is nothing an abuser can say to his victim that would erase the scar that will haunt her probably for the rest of her life.
A Pastor is not a sufficient intervention for domestic violence. He needs to enter into a true state approved domestic violence program. WA has an 18 month program - I know some who have gone through it- improved but still haven’t tackled all of their demons. (such as still being emotionally abusive in spurts, although no longer physically violent - as far as I know). These domestic violence counseling programs do hold the individuals accountable and don’t permit them to blame others for their actions. Chris is talking about the incident as something that happen - and not want he did. Not a positive sign!
The Los Angeles County Courts better not let him off on these charges and, further, the public does deserve the right to have all information released (photos, 911 call, and police reports) right now since he is suggesting the media and bloggers have the story wrong. Yes, bring everything out into the light of day, Mark Geragos, so the public can now make an authentic judgment call.
I want to see him in serious psychotherapy instead of meeting with some “pastor” who has likely knocked around a few black women himself.

If the stories were not true, he and his delayed public relations campaign would have been out front immediately with a denial. They’ve probably been negotiating behind closed doors with Rhianna so she won’t press charges against him. One would hope she isn’t that foolish as it will (then) affect her own career. If she demonstrates weakness in pressing charges, she’ll never have the public at “hello” as she does right now and will leave him wide open to abuse her or other women down the line. Chris Brown made a mistake .. a MISTAKE. his mistake was a huge one that could have potentially cost rihanna her life but at the end of the day he is human and he’s going to make his mistakes..
Calling him a loser and saying his apology is fake isn’t going to help anyone in this situation .. He knows what he did is wrong and the first step into taking responsibility for your action is admitting that you have a problem.. He clearly has a problem with abuse and he’s doing all he can to fix himself.. So stop trying to tear the man down..

There was a similiar case at my place of employment where a male worker brutally beat up one of the best looking women in the hospital. I include this because as many here show there’s a pattern of trying to destroy feminine beauty which is a sub-category of the total abuses women have had to suffer these many centuries. I’m sick of people making comments along the lines of ‘he made a mistake, we all do it.’ I can’t say I’ve ever made the mistake of deliberatley putting someone in the emergency room (let alone a loved one). A mistake is littering in the park or going 5 miles over the speed limit. It takes a sick person to beat a woman to a pulp like that (no matter what she did) - it wasn’t friggin ‘mistake’ it was an act of true cruelty and violence.
I’m sure she did do something to cause a reaction from him - she probably acted like a human being in a relationship. Don’t you have a family, a friend or a partner? When people are close they can drive each other INSANE at times - it happens. That doesn’t give anyone the right to be violent! I don’t know why so many ppl are giving Chris brown such a hard time without knowing the whole story first. I’m a woman and I dont think hurting anyone is a good thing, but for some reason I just dont want to judge someone or the situation when the info known is all one sided. I do hope Rihanna is ok, and at the same time I hope that Chris Brown will be able to provide a better explanation better on and hopefully not suffer more than he has to for it.

I think that there are two sides to every story…
yes, it was no doubt in my mind, wrong for him to hurt her like he did .. but we only know as much as the media and the media tends to fabricate the situations as do many of the “sources” the media gets their information from..
Everybody makes mistakes as we all know .. some people learn and some people don’t. But let us give him a chance to show us that he is man enough to face the consequences of his actions and give him the chance to straighten out himself and become a better person.

What everyone needs to realize is there are always 2 sides to a story like this. Because clearly, Rhianna is the one who got the bad end of this, everyone is out to hate Chris. We don’t know what she said or did to make him snap. I find it hard to believe he is just out and out a woman beater and she said or did nothing to push him over the edge. We don’t know if she hit him first. all we’re hearing is that she threw his keys out the window….now would that be enough to set someone off that bad? Personally I don’t think so. I’ve read many articles where her own family members are saying the media is making this all sound a lot worse than it was. That picture released by TMZ, can we really believe that wasn’t altered at all? They’ve already said there was a photo on there that WAS altered to make her eyes look all black and blue. The way I see it, until i see either of them talking about it, like say on Oprah, I don’t believe anything beyond the fact that they got into a fight. As for how bad it actually was, people shouldn’t let the media dictate that. The media is the reason we have beautiful girls out there who think because they don’t look like the celebrities, they’re not beautiful. The media is why so many celebrities fall off the edge. Um…..womp. Apologies should never be read off of cue cards. I’m not normally one to criticize people attempting to change, but that was really rehearsed and the tone of his voice alone doesn’t make it sincere.
I hope he really is sorry, and he will be forgiven, but he is mistaken if he thinks this could ever be forgotten. I think he definitely regrets a lot of things. He probably regrets getting caught the most.

There is no excuse for a man putting his hand on a woman. Coming from a home where domestic violence took place, I know first hand that it curves the way you respond to life on its terms. Either you hate it or use it when life shows up. Being your age and responding to life on it’s terms the way you did, tells me what side of that fence you’re on. I don’t see a desire in you to change, no remorse nor any consequences (TIME) that will make you think seriously about what you’ve done. If you need a script to apologize, then no I don’t accept it. A slap on the wrist doesn’t do it for me. If it were me I know two wrongs don’t make it right, but it sure feels good; I would have given you back what you give so freely to me. For sure
