Do we believe every tabloid story????? She and Brad will probably stay closer to the city during the week while when she is filming there and out at the estate when they are not. They are quite a team.

Funny how all the reports of them moving to Long Island seem to be just that stories.. I think that the press think they know more about the mind set and plans of the Brange then they obviously do. Salt seems to be more of a thriller then an total Action flick.. Like a Bourneish film.. (my made up word). She did Changeling and wanted to do something physical after having the twins.. Same happened with Shiloh (Wanted). So I can understand that desire to get physical and get away in a since from the soft Mommy role. I can’t wait to see this film next year.. I’m sure the family will probably leave right after the Oscars.. so Hollywood will again be without it’s shinning stars..

Easier said than done. What you said may work for a small company. But may be very hard to right a “big ship”. It;s not like flipping a switch. It takes time and sometimes, it’s hard to “root out” all those wrong policies done by your predecessors. Most of the time, it’s always adopting a “bandage fixing” approach. Just take a look at the lax code, whenever there are changes, it gets even more complicated. Plus, in Washington, there’s always those private interest group, lobbying hard to the politicians. I tend to trust what the Time mag list and their analysis.

Brad has been nominated by EVERYONE this year. And by BAFTA for two roles. Gee, how do you explain that?

Some very astute critics warned that Brad’s performance was so good and so subtle that its quality would be lost on many viewers. It seems some of those viewers post here.

The only awards show that can be “controlled” is the Golden Globes. To a lesser extent, the Broadcast Critics Awards Show (now also called the Critics Choice Awards). You cannot control the noms or winners for the SAGs, the Oscars, the BAFTAs. The memberships are very large and not subject to the dictates of anyone.

Posters who think otherwise just betray their ignorance of the process.

At best X has been called “toned” No one has EVER reported her as beautiful, her haircut yes but not her.

About the apartment, I realize this thread is about looking for an apartment for her character in the movie but really do you think that someone with the resources of the JPs and this major studio won’t make sure that Jolie has a pied a terre to retreat to during filming in the city. I would have one - even if just to have some place to go to be alone to get ready for my role. As long as she is at the home on the Island she will have no peace - at least if the kids know she is home.

This looks like a good story. Jolie, as always, looks fabulous without even trying. I remember those boots - or ones just like them - from many years ago.

Last year as well as this year TIFF it was all over the tabloids and entertainment news, that there would be a showdown of X, Brad and Angie at the Oscar party, but when it didn’t happen, It’s Angie who chicken out, forcing Brad not to had a reunion with his X blah,blah…. while X was written as the strong, gracious ex wife. BTW - I think the later CEOs at Citigroup weren’t on the list because at that point the horse was out of the barn and half way down the track. They would have been hard pressed to bring about any serious changes when everyone else in the industry was going full-steam ahead with their money-grubbing, shady deals. How much could they really have done to halt things? All that bad debt was already out there piling up. The whole thing reminds me of how peridodically NYC has trouble finding some place to dump their garbage. So the garbabe sits on a barge that goes up and down the Hudson River while they find a landfill willing to take it. Instead of garbage it’s $40BIL worth of CDOs and junk bonds!

Why should they meet and greet? Pitt has stated that he has said hello to Aniston that should be enough. Why should Jolie have to meet Jen. Several sources say that the Aussie hunk will be joined on stage by Beyoncé, High School Musical stars and real-life couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and Mamma Mia!’s Amanda Seyfried. Dominic Cooper, Seyfried’s costar and rumored boyfriend, will also likely participate, but I’m told scheduling conflicts still have to be resolved to make it work.

One source tells me that Jackman and Beyoncé have been rehearsing at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York City.

The entire group begins rehearsals tonight here in Hollywood, according to another source.

The song-and-dance routine is being directed by Jackman’s Australia director Baz Luhrmann. No stranger to musicals, Luhrman’s credits include Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet and Strictly Ballroom. Jackman reportedly requested to have Luhrmann stage the Oscar number.

Academy membership is more diverse, the old guard is dying off, a younger crowd is taking over. Which explains why this is the year of the underdog. I like Slumdog Millionaire, the little movie that could, but it’s not on the same planet as Benjamin Button, The Reader or Revolutionary Road (which wasn’t even nominated). Sean Penn will most likely win for Milk, a respectable but otherwise unexceptional biopic without a shred of conflict or narrative tempo. But he didn’t face half the challenge of Brad Pitt or give half the performance of Mickey Rourke. I’m rooting for Kate Winslet, but what happened to Cate Blanchett? Can anyone explain the screenplay nomination for Frozen River, a tiny little movie full of long pauses and big mumbles? Tant pis. If there’s one thing five decades of trying to figure out the Oscars has taught me, it’s how to surrender gracefully.

Which is why I can still smile ruefully when I remember the Oscar night in 1994 at the Russian Tea Room when a talented but clueless young puppy named Leonardo DiCaprio, who had never heard of Gentleman’s Agreement, asked Celeste Holm, “And what is it you do?”
