Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen - Engaged
Former O.C. actress Rachel Bilson and longtime boyfriend Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen are engaged, according to PageSix sources.
The pair reportedly was engaged over the holidays.
When flying from LAX to JFK on Monday night with her mom, Rachel apparently was speaking to someone about the ring on her finger and said, “I’m not married yet, just engaged. I know I look like I’m 15, but I’m actually 27!”
Reps for both Rachel and Hayden have yet to confirm the news. If it’s true, congrats you two!

Marriage does not ruin a relationship. No obvious chemistry does. In two years they have hardly looked at each other, held hands, or kissed. And the few times they have it looks forced. No spontaneity. They don’t seem emotionally connected like other couples. A few examples: Brad and Angelina, Jake and Reese, Tom and Katie (just kidding. I got carried away with that one) but these are emotionally connected couples. They actually seem to be building lives together not just trying to be photographed with one another for publicity.
They could be engaged but why all the secrecy. Is she afraid that if they ask Hayden he will deny it? Anyway congratulations Rachel. I saw this rumor on several gossip sites not just here. Your relevant today at least.

Call me old-fashioned but I think a real engagement should be presented by BOTH involved people, not always by the girl only, and this done by silly hints and about the third or fourth time within two years. She’s really making an even bigger joke of herself.

Isn’t this the same person who was flaunting a gold ring for MONTHS trying to get everyone to believe they were already married and then HC denied publically it was his ring? They weren’t together over the V day holiday. They weren’t together during Thanksgiving and Christmas because RB was seen at parties in LA during that time WITHOUT HIM. She has been spreading rumors trying to get interest in her pumped up for the last two years while he does nothing. Finally they do a show of affection which was completely staged for the cameras, while he was working (and because of that shaved and clean for once). that is not a confirmation, just continuation of a rumor, they had a picture of Jennifer Aniston on the magazine cover as a bride and it did not happen, until it is confirmed by reputable sources I am still waiting for the real truth

That artical made the most sense really and the fact there is a movie on the horizon adds to the fact it’s an on again off again idea..and the word ALLEGED and SOURCE to SEEMS all protect the reporter and each ad is taking a bits and pieces off this and just adding more and more trash to the idea. My guess? Hayden dumped Rachel. That’s why she’s been looking so crabby lately. What better way to get back at him than to cook up an engagment story and make sure several news outlets run with it. This accomplishes two things.
1-It gets Rachel the publicity she is so obviously and pathetically addicted to,
and
2-Makes Hayden look like a real ass, like he’s making her “hide” her engagement ring and they’re being “private” by not speaking out on it.
She knows he won’t issue a public denial through his reps. He NEVER does that. I’ve been a fan for years and Hayden won’t do it. Her rep is obviously in on it with her generic “I don’t talk about my client’s personal lives” BS which is FALSE, because when another engagement story popped up a couple months ago, they quickly denied it.

This is gossip being repeated by celebrity gossip magazines and websites. Let’s hear RB directly tell the press she’s engaged or their reps acknowledge it. Since RB is once again doing a lot of hinting around publically just like she has many times before but not saying anything directly because she wants to keep things ‘private’, she’s clearly trying to get attention for herself. That’s all this is, a pathetic bid for attention. If she was truly a private person she would keep her mouth SHUT.
It’s amazing the power a publicist has. One of them calls a tabloid, in this case, the NY Post and Kneepads Magazine and the next thing you know the entire internet is buzzing that Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson are engaged. Wow. The sources say they got engaged over the holidays and it was so romantic. Sure, there aren’t any details of the engagement. Sure, they haven’t set a date, and no the source has no idea if Rachel and Hayden are happy but they seem happy. Seems covers a lot of ground. I might be smiling and seem happy but inside feel something different. Very tough to get sued when you say the word seem.
So, anyway, considering we have not heard from this fake couple in awhile I decided to see if either of them had a movie coming out. Wouldn’t you know it? Both of them are in the new movie New York, I Love You which is going to be released in the middle of April. Wow. Just two short months away. I think it is kind of interesting that even though they allegedly got engaged over the holidays which were two months ago, that we are only hearing about it now two months before their new movie opens up.
This is such an obvious setup but people will just buy right into it and there will be cover stories and wedding planning issues and each one of those stories and interviews will mention the movie which opens in April and how for the price of a ticket you can see this real life couple playing on the screen together. Whatever. If they are engaged, fine, I’m happy for them and I want them to get married tomorrow. Why the f**k not? They have allegedly been dating forever and know everything about each other so why prolong it. Just go get married. It would be a better publicity stunt anyway. Do it. Invite me along and get married. Prove to me it isn’t some stunt your publicist came up with. Oh, and Rachel’s publicist had this to say about the engagement, “I don’t comment on my clients personal lives.” What? Of course you do and if Rachel told you to say it you would say it. Your friends on IMDB have at least seen through RB for a long time already (in the opposite to you), although they are not willing to admit (to themselves) (yet) that HC has to be totally involved in all her media games as otherwise nothing of all this would happen or could work. And it DOES work - just look at all the attention they get on the internet since yesterday. Their PR-people must clap their hands how good this plan was.
HC’s involvement was absolutely clear from the moment the paps have shown up in front of his door in Canada - right the FIRST time RB was there. This was the thing which has never happened before. So it was more than obvious that he is absolutely included in all of this fame hunting.
This couple is a pair who fits together perfectly: dumb, spoiled, arrogant, lying and manipulative. A real match. One can indeed only congratulate - that they have found each other and no other potential partner has to have one of them. ;-)

Thanks for the compliment concerning my English, and I like to banter with you too, you are my “very favorite enemy” ;-) (no dislike included at all).
I don’t share your opinion that people in general (meaning also on boards like this) can be called whatever. We are private people (REAL private people in the opposite to some who dare to call themselves but are so not) - but those “celebrities” have put themselves out in the public where criticism was to expect. Nothing just comes positive one-sided, there’s always more to things. I think that’s a huge difference which is why I try not to do (name-)calling towards other users if possible. They want the advantages - then they also must be ready to cope with the other effects.
And as I’ve said before: I don’t hate Hayden. I fully agree (and always have) that I held him in much too high esteem, but at least I “woke up” some day, and I’m glad for that. Yet it’s not hate, it’s more like disappointment. And as he has decided to be connected to a fame-ho like RB I’m not going to mince matters. He gets exactly from his ex-fans what he deserves after lying to us, not caring at all and being unreliable for many years. You seem to be very forgiving towards him for all his mistakes which I’m not. Human or not, we all are human, but his bad behavior cannot be excused as simple as that, at least I cannot do that. Maybe you are the bigger person than I am, I don’t know. Too good is silly, we say in German, and I’ve made the experience that if you let people treat you badly then they will also do it in most cases. Respect is a two-sided thing which should be a total base between people IMO, but sadly it’s not. HC is a taker only, but he never gives.
I think Gasol_fan16 is right now very busy supporting her new “hero”, Pau Gasol. If this feels alright for her, wonderful, I hope she enjoys it. As to me, I’ve lost the trust in believing in strangers. Like you I also don’t go to post on other people’s threads no matter if I like them or not. I like to see some actors/actresses in movies but don’t feel the need to go to their boards and place a comment there. I don’t know much about private gossip about others, and I really don’t care. If I don’t know much about somebody/a subject I refuse to put my two cents in. But HC has just “hurt” me too much I guess, and I know many people who post around here which are the reasons I’m still around. As this is also a form of entertainment and a chance to use English which I love I don’t see it as a full waste of my time.
Their image is tarnished now even more, not only that they are not good actors, they are also both media manipulators and it is going to back fire, they will get even less respect than before.
You can keep things private, but when you are showing up at movie premiers and designer events and fund raisers and are posing for pictures to either promote your movie or a closing line, you are seeking publicity, thus, you are public persona, accordingly, the public now knows you and hiding the fact that you are engaged, which is going to be know anyway, is simply stupid and another media manipulation, bc the longer people speculate and wait for the confirmation, the longer they stay in the news, which is very temporary any way, it is not going to work, the people are disgusted.

Sorry, forgot before: I was talking about RB’s very first visit in Canada, that was why I wrote it in capitals. I know it has happened again in the meanwhile, but for me already her first visit and getting away with paps in front of his/their quite hidden and far away to reach home in Canada was kind of an “eye opener”. It would have never worked without him involved.

I don’t want to hurt you but to be with somebody over two years already (even if it’s not the “right” or better not a “good” person in this case) I would call a relationship. And maybe she is exactly right for him - I have won this expression as he acts so very different from his image he had in all those past years. So if he is not the person he was said/sold to be then he might be a totally different person in fact and therefore fit PERFECTLY to RB.
Also I don’t buy that stuff he told about his young years. He’s lied far too often to believe anything he’s ever said. So you cannot trust if that “distance relationship” around 16 was ever true.
Don’t mistaken HC with an innocent child. He is not locked away in some “dungeon” where he could not escape from (if he WANTED to). HC is old enough and very selfish I think. I do have other interest’s yes. Basketball is one of them. As a fan of Gasol’s yes but, I will never put as much faith in him as I did in Hayden. Well. I really don’t need to. Pau has made it professionally. He is on one of the best NBA teams and is making a lot more money then Hayden actually and when Pau does find the right lady I know it will not be some superficial, little spoiled media wh*ring brat! No worries about Pau. He will be doing just fine.
I still don’t buy this whole story. HC and RB weren’t even together during the holidays, and I seriously doubt she got engaged via telephone (lol!). And since those two months, she hasn’t sported a ring…at all. I declare this story: FALSE

This seems very strainge to me. Not to say Hayden and Rachy are together but, they may be both be pulling this engagement stunt b/c NYILY is coming out next month and want to advertise they are in this movie. Pull out all stomps. Thanks a lot for thinking I’m so very wise. ;-) But believe me I’ve made my mistakes too, just like all of us have. :lol: But good thing is: We can learn from them and avoid to repeat them.
Voice of reason is acting a bit weird I think, or at least I don’t get it. To me internet is a place people access to get in contact with other people, very practical to share interests which no one might be interested in at your real neighborhood or also to meet people from other nations - both cases I entered the web for.
VOR is coming here and on IMDB so very often, on a regular base, like many of us do, and she’s interfering and saying her opinion which is something I enjoy with people (instead of just agreeing and following along, although those are more liked by the other ones usually). Yet VOR is too uptight to even give out her e-mail-addy which would be a basic to chat with somebody in private mode or even meet on a messenger for having the possibility to type or even talk with each other. So - in one way she’s searching for contact and in the other she’s doing everything to avoid it at the same time. That’s the point I don’t get with her.
As to RB making so much noise about her maybe-engagement AGAIN after some same occasions I think that not just “NYILY” is a reason for that. Somebody has stated before, and I can only agree, this movie has so many FAR MORE KNOWN names than her and HC involved. But then there has been fashion week as well - and her little trick caused her far more attention than any other visitors or designers achieved there. Maybe she’s secretly still dreaming of a “designing career”, even after her theft of ideas and disaster with DKNY, who knows?

they look really cute together. i almost feel annoyed though because hayden is so gorgeous and nice, and already engaged (and not to me, if you can believe it). then again, if this isnt a rumor, hollywood couples rarely last long, and hayden and rachel dont really seem to have too much of a connection. well, wither way, i hope it works out.
