# 52, true, but it should be reminded that hugh jackman is a superb actor. nevermind him doing a song and dance as a host. I dont think zac and vanessa is anywhere near oscar worthy. I guess them being there is to give young hollywood an opportunity to flaunt what they can do as a performer. based on the work they have to their credit so far i just dont think they deserve it. yet.
if miley and jo bros show up for this I am probably gonna take a cyanide pill. This is not a tween event! damnit!!!!

Zac and Vanessa have nothing to do with the Disney channel so why should they “stick to” it?

You don’t consider “Miracle Run” a serious movie? Zac was nominated for a best actor award for his role in that movie. How about “Derby Stallion” “17 Again,” and “MAOW”? Those are all serious roles. So is Vanessa’s role as a stutterer in “Bandslam.”

Why are they turning the Oscars into a circus? If I wanted to watch a song and dance routine I’d be watching the Tony’s or the Grammy’s. And what’s with all the Zanessa hype? Neither Efron nor Hudgens deserve to be up on that stage with truly serious actors. All I can say is they must have great publicists because they both stink.

I wonder if Mickey and Minnie will be there too along with goofy Zac and dopey Vanessa? The Oscars are turning into a sham to be laughed at. What horrible program planning.
Sounds like a good year to turn the tv off and hope the rest of the world does the same so the ratings will be even worse then last year!

Seriously? Although Jackman seems to be a nice guy, his only claim to fame outside of broadway is Xmen. Which he began in those films at 32. No Globes or Oscars… I checked.

Check out some of these “Oscar worthy” contenders and you will see that most of them made their mark in their late 20′ or early 30″s. (Zac is 21 and Vanessa is 20. )

And sorry, Pitt, Jolie, Dicaprio, Cruise, Penn, even Miley and the JoBros, don’t do the “theatre” style song and dance and wouldn’t want to be asked to help with the opening. So just let Hugh Jackman put together the people he wants to do his show. I think the “Oscar worthy” man should know how to pick em, don’t you?

I’m not having a go at you, let’s all all drop the sarcasm and address this honestly, you need to think through what you’re saying. You think that only established actors and superb actors should ATTEND the Oscars or perform???

Can’t you see why the Oscars are dying? Who wants to watch an old gentlemen’s club boringly pat themselves on the back which is what the Oscars have been. I remember watching Brad Pitt in Thelma and Louise and The Favour (cringeworthy), I remember George Clooney in
ER. My point is that they started from somewhere when they were not ‘Oscar material’ and see where they are now. Back then, who knew Brad will ever be nominated for an Oscar.

Nobody is saying Zac and Vanessa are ‘Oscar materials’ but as young and inexperienced as they are, they have something to bring to the table.
As unknowns, after numerous rejections, their first gig drew in 8m viewers on DC, They won Emmys for it and it spawned stage shows and ice shows across the globe.
The sequel drew in 17m viewers and was the best selling CD in the whole world in 2007.
The third which went to the screen made £250m worldwide. Whatever you think of them personally, they draw in the viewers and families enjoy their performance.
Those families that contributed to the $250m ticket sales will be tuning in to watch the Oscars and I’m one of them.

Hollywood is realising rightly that it is not a gentleman’s club. I believe in talent but I believe that talent needs to be developed. One way they need to do that is to expose the young starlets to the seasoned actors so they can observe and learn, not just the skills of the thespian but how to carry themselves at award shows and the dignity that used to be associated with old hollywood.

Hollywood is going down the drain because the veterans refuse to mentor or guide the young ones but unfortunately they are not drawing in viewers anymore, check the box office figures. The young ones are drawing the audience so its foolish to ignore them. Their fans will be the future moviegoing public.

I love Zac and Vanessa but I know they’ve not done anything YET worth being nominated but they are capable of performing and should perform at the Oscars. It’s an honor they are mindful of. It is mixing with the Veterans and observing then=m and talking with them that they learn to be better.

That’s why we have schools and why most offices have mentoring schemes. It is built on the premise that people start from a low level and learn from those who know and improve till they reach their optimum. To judge Zac and Vanessa now is like basing your opinion of whether a girl should be allowed into the parlour on her first grade results. She doesn’t have to pass the SATs before she learns how to sit in public and have a well-mannered conversation with adults.

Let’s be reasonable here.

God I hate that Zanessa duo. Annoying, over rated and way too much credit for two not so good actors. Way to throw the Oscars under the bus with these two loser lovebirds.

the Oscars are dying because of lousy programming that takes forever…..plain and simple. too much hoopla and people tire of it all.

It’s really amusing but most of the twats making rude comments here probably don’t even watch the Oscars. What is giving them ulcers is that Vanessa has been given the honor of being asked to perform at the Oscars.
Even if they are watching Barney on Sunday night, they would probably not concentrate because they’ll be choking at the thought that Vanessa is getting exposure at the Oscars.
It’s not outrage at the quality of the Oscars, it’s outrage that a young starlet they want to fail is getting more opportunities and proving them wrong.
After writing her off, she appeared at the GGs dressed with such class, fashion blogs were giving her attention with the A-listers and that stung. Now the thought of her getting any attention at the Oscars is very painful, I’m sure.

I would offer my condolences but I have none to offer. In my days, it was easy not to like a celeb, you just tune out everything about them. I don’t understand people obsessively trawling the internet to find anything on someone they hate in order to post a snarky and daft comment, exposing their own ugliness. Too much effort.
