OlderKate Winslet: No More Nudity!
Kate Winslet, who is nominated for her sixth Academy Award for her performance in The Reader, has been named Best Actress in the the new issue of Time, on newsstands tomorrow.
On baring it all in The Reader, the 33-year-old British beauty says, “I think I won’t [get naked in a movie] again. I can’t keep getting away with it, and I don’t want to become ‘that actress who always gets her kit off.”
While looking over her old diaries, Kate adds, “I was struck to discover that I was truly the same person back then. But in the diary, I write several times, ‘I’m not sure I should really be working. I’ve got to learn more. I have to catch up with myself.’ Well, I feel I’ve caught up with myself now. With these roles, I’ve just closed a big chapter in my life. I feel that only in the last two years could I look someone in the eye and say, ‘I know how to act’ and really maybe mean it. (pauses) Notice I said maybe.”

You do NOT want to go there. Kate was perfectly happy and willing to let her first husband be the primary care giver fors their daughter while she spent her time chasing her career and that ever elusive Oscar and then trading up to her next husband, her director, Sam Mendes.

You obviously know nothing about Kate’s history as a mother or wife. So perhaps you should refrain from comparing mothers or using Kate to criticize another mother.

just wondering; why do you get so upset when people don’t share your view of angelina. she’s just another actor; so what? in the end all that matters is what you think about her. if others don’t feel the same way let them. just remember they have as much right to say what they want as you do.
Overrated. I didn’t even like her performance in The Reader. She was miscast. I’m rooting for either Anne Hathaway (who blew Kate out of the water this year!) or Melissa Leo who is leagues better in terms of emotional reciprocation and dramatic experience. Too bad they don’t have a chance because Winslet is “owed” an Oscar. *rolleyes*

anne hathaway? oh please no. the worst peformance in the year’s most boring movie. i do agree with you on kate. she is miscast in the reader. i haven’t seen the film melissa leo is in. however, i think that the oscar belongs to meryl streep. she is brilliant in doubt. to my mind, none of the others nominated for best actress come even close to her magnificant performance. if meryl doesn’t win it will be a travesty.
Agreed with you on Streep. She was amazing and I’ll be rooting for her too over Whinesalot. It’s a shame that these incredible performances will be overlooked for the boring, completely miscast role in the Reader. It will be a travesty period for winslet to win. There’s just no justice in the world and these Oscars are simply a popularity contest, it disgusts me. Weinstein’s at it again, just like Gwyneth winning in ‘99!
Who cares if Kate does nude scenes? Nothing wrong with being nude to me if, the scene calls for it. I love all of Kate’s movies. She is so passionate and has fire. I love her! I hope she get’s the Oscar! KATE IS GREAT!!! :D

And “No More Nudity?” She says that as if to say “Oh, all my reel romping has finally paid off! Thank you Oscar!” One or two nude scenes are fine if they’re classy, but this woman’s always got a spread eagle going. Natural Beauty or not, Kate Winslet is a Hollywood ***** for Hire.
