Gerard Butler Parties Oscars-Style
Gerard Butler attends the 17th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Academy Award Viewing Party held at the Pacific Design Center on Sunday (February 22) in Hollywood.
The same evening, the 39-year-old Scottish stud hit up the 2009 Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by VF editor Graydon Carter held at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood.
Gerry arrived late to the bash, telling E!, “I want to sing at the Oscars. I just don’t think they’d have me.”

#33, yeah….he has a GREAT body…I’m just not so sure about the tapered/skinny pants. He oozes man, and in my opinion, leave that to the Zach Efron’s and Jonas Bro’s generation. He’s too manly for that style. I like to see men dressed as MEN, leave the skinny pants to the chicks or the younger dudes who have yet to have a body like his.

I just don’t see the same “spark” or interest in his eyes. I can only imagine what the biz does to a person. I wish nothing but the best for him and his future endeavors…

He could have been a character actor but instead he has become a joke. Have you ever seen any other actor attending that many fashion events?
Gerry was in the Dressed to Kilt charity event in 05, and he brought the house down in a pink cashmere sweater and leather kilt. That event was a great one for him and he was such a hit. 4 years was a long time ago for a man in his career, but I’m betting he will do well at this one and I can’t wait to see pictures of it.

Amen, thank you again for tipping me off to where I could find Hugh Jackman’s Oscars performance. He was very impressive. I’ve bookmarked that for as long as it lasts. Some of the performance videos have been removed for copyright violations so I am glad I got to see it. I apologize if my comments have offended anyone. Don’t think I dislike Gerard Butler. He too is very talented. I admire him for taking on the challenging roles he did, including Phantom, Tiana 1 #49. I was initially a big fan, intrigued, but expected more from him based on what I saw than what he has delivered since 300. When he formed his own company I thought we were going to get some very good unHollywood movies. I thought he did very well in Phantom, he only hurt my ears on a few occasions with some pretty raw notes, he was appropriately dramatic, but in the voice department, Placido Domingo he isn’t. He knows it. What I like is that he has admitted he was scared to do that role, but he DID it, very well if imperfectly. How many of us have backed off from challenges because we didn’t think we could do them perfectly? He worked out like crazy for 300. Anyone who thinks that the muscles were all CGI can’t know what it takes. I still think he’s been seduced by the worst of Hollywood and isn’t well focused now. This has been noticed by a couple of journalists who interviewed him. I hope I and they are proved wrong. But I still like Hugh Jackman too and he seems very together, doesn’t seem to provoke the controversy Butler does. That’s all. Peace.
#55…you thought we were going to get some very good “unHollywood” movies from Gerry after he formed his own company? Who said we’re not going to? LAC is his first produced movie and it’s not even completed yet…..and to me, this looks like it’s going to be a very exciting one! Give the man some slack! Hugh Jackman is married with children…of course, his life would be different and more together. Gerry is still single and that certainly makes a big difference. He has a right to live his life as he sees fit and I personally, hope he is enjoying the heck out of it!
Yes, hopefully he is enjoying his life, but I hope not at his career’s expense. If his acting is very important to him, he should focus more on it and not every party. Some kind of moderation. I really don’t like the movies he has chosen to do lately. Too mainstream. He has so much talent. In the end I really don’t see him getting a lot of satisfaction from all the parties and fashion weeks. I feel he is getting off-track. Somewhat disappointing for me to watch.
The Dressed to Kilt thing isn’t until the end of March. LAC should be pretty much done by then. And, for God’s sake, it represents Scotland. Can you imagine GB, getting ready to film Burns, not going? Sean Connery is going to be there. Gerry and Sean. Scotland forever. Hot, hot, hot. The old and the new.

come on, let’s be civil, anonymous. I am sorry if I haven’t been. we all have different opinions. LAC doesn’t look like a great movie from here. It looks like a standard crimer. We original fans wanted Burns. We wanted a guy who seemed extremely intelligent and powerful to make great films that were not the usual Hollywood fodder. To see this man traipsing around to fashion shows and parties is disturbing. If there is a plan here, that he needs to make all these social connections, okay. But so much seems silly. He was “linked” with Jennifer Aniston, and at first it was babble about a romantic connection, then about what sounded like a very good movie about a real historical situation, then it was about some other movie someone was concocting that had nothing to do with anything historical. If Gerry actually has the chopsl, he needs to start forging his own path, that’s all.
Jilleroo - my comment was civil AND based on her numerous (and I mean numerous) posts. She appears to have researched and memorized every detail of his life. I would call that obsessive — and a fangurl. I see using those words as accurate, descriptive and concise - not uncivil. If you are going to scold someone, maybe you should scold that behavior, instead of someone’s observation of that behavior. Or maybe I should have just told her to take a shower too and comment on her posts that way, instead of explaning to WhoKnows why (s)he is wasting his/her breath.
Maybe you hit a nerve. Her posts rival “War and Peace” and are just as bad…..

anonmyous #63. If you see this site again, I’m sorry if I offended you. I am lost here now with all the posts, having trouble finding who said what. I myself have posted an absurd amount of stuff. We all must be obsessed in SOME way if we are even bothering. This is very unlike me. I’ve never paid much attention to movie stars at all. GB just came along, rising to fame, seeming real, very attractive, seemingly talented, talking frankly about his past problems with alcohol and poverty and not knowing his father, and the big bold career change from getting fired as a lawyer and taking the big risk on acting. when I was going through a very difficult period in my life, having career troubles, getting fired myself, developing a painful debilitating disease I was told was incurable, four deaths in the family in a short time, including my husband whom I was trying to nurse while sick myself, developing alcohol and drug dependency, and here was this guy making it big against odds. and talking frankly about his pain I could relate. So I guess I identified and didn’t want him to blow it. He was impressive. I just don’t get women who bindly worship him as some kind of sex god.
# 70- those women are in the minority. Most of his fans are quite normal. We just admire him and want the best for him, and if he makes choices that are disappointing to us…well, it’s his life and he’s just a guy trying to make it in a tough business. I won’t judge him, and I will continue to root for him, because human failings aside, I do think he’s got something special.
I hope he brings his girlfriend Gina over to Scotland when he comes home to film ‘Burns’. That would be lovely to see.
