Gwyneth Paltrow Defends GOOP
Gwyneth Paltrow squeezes into a pair of J Brand “9612” pencil leg jeans while meeting up with a few businessmen on Thursday (February 26) in New York City’s Financial District.
At the Bent on Learning charity event on Wednesday, she explained her vision for her holistic lifestyle website GOOP. “I’m not trying to be the next Martha [Stewart],” Paltrow said.
“I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it, don’t really get it, because if they did, they would like it,” Paltrow, 36, said. “I think that people like people to stay in their ‘box’ - they like people to stay how they are comfortable seeing them.”

I LOVE THE GOOP!
I agree, if you don’t like it, don’t read it!
I love icons they use, how it’s simple…it’s refreshing!
I don’t know anything about GOOP, but I think she’s completely obnoxious and i don’t want her advice about anything.
i think people should just leave her alone, the goop newsletter is pretty interesting actually, i like it alot!
I don’t know squat about GOOP nor do I care to, but this uneducated women is clueless and obnoxious. I think she is incredibly fug too.
I had no idea that Gwyneth was so obnoxious. She needs to grow up. Not everyone will like her GOOP site and if she is a secure person, she would understand that. I think Gwyneth realize her acting career is over and this GOOP site is her last hope to fame. Get over it, Gwyneth! Most people could care less about you or your site! Your crass comments are like a mirror…it shows you are a bitter and unhappy person!
I like her hair like this..so cute!
I enjoy GOOP weekly. I think it’s sweet Gwyneth shares her lifestyle with us. I will never understand the critics other than they’re jealous and hating. It’s so cliche to pick on Gwyneth, so all the media hackers have to do it so they can get people to read their entries. Pathetic.
Gwyneth is a really nice, cool down-to-earth woman. Just because you’re tall, thin, blonde, and raised with luck doesn’t make you stuck-up. That’s a generalization and stereotype people need to get over.
I see her to be a talented actress mainly because I enjoy the movies she makes. I enjoy literature and most of her movies are based on novels I have read. I relate to her for that reason and another.
I share a similar lifestyle to her as well–I grew up on the Upper East Side not too far from where GP lived. At the time I didn’t know who she was or even her mom (I was young) but comparing her to my female classmates, she’s a role model. The girls I graduated with have grown up to be upperclass snobs (even worse than back then). I grew up fortunate also, but my parents didn’t represent the family to be upperclass like. I think the Paltrows lived similiar to how my family lived.
These are two of the many reasons I love GP so much. Sometimes you need to look at the whole picture–not just the title.

Not true…I met Gwyneth twice and once time she had no makeup on and the other time was at an EL event. Both times she looked radiant. And both times she was overly-nice. Blythe and Bruce raised her to their standards–to be kind and treat others as equals. Sure, she may live a luxurious lifestyle, but someone has to keep the economy going. My tight-wad of an uncle makes mega millions every year and lives like he’s suffering from this recession. SPEND YOUR MONEY IF YOU CAN!!!!!!!
Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t sharing her lifestyle with anyone. She’s hired a big pr firm to “brand” her (same one that reps Martha Stewart) and to create a media image so she can make big bucks from her own product lines. They handle the production of her e-newsletter. She signs off on the final copy, but she has little to do with the weekly production of the newsletter despite trying to convey the impression that this is just a little something she’s kind enough to share with her girlfriends and fans. Very, very common in the pr world. She’s not home writing or editing Goop. Her “editors” handle that. She’s out and about jetting to and from New York/London and attending events to get more positive publicity for her new “lifestyle guru” image. Thankfully the media is starting to do real research, otherwise you’d believe this is just something Gwyneth has cooked up in her spare time. She certainly isn’t being up front about her blog and her motivations for having one. In the long run, this duplicity probably won’t serve her well.
Btw, I’ve seen her several times around NYC and she appeared to be without makeup. Yes, it’s true, she’s really nothing to write home about, but most stars aren’t.
I think Goop is interesting, especially if you’re her fan. And that’s the whoe point of it. It’s for her fan.
She doesn’t try to write a big new discovery in GOOP, just to reach her fans in her own way with her article sent directly to the email of subscriber.
People just really don’t get it. If you don’t like what she writes, or think you already know it, just stop reading!
GOOP seems to be an overall decent website! obviously if your not a gwyneth fan you wont be a GOOP fan either… how could you at least not think shes fabulous for having enough confidence to face the paparazzi in her sweaty yoga gear with no make up?
