Alicia Keys is Michelle Obama
Alicia Keys does her best impression of First Lady Michelle Obama in this new photo from Glamour mag’s tribute to American Icons.
The mag even had stand-ins for the Obama daughters — Malia and Natasha (Sasha for short)!
Alicia has said of Michelle, “She has worked hard for everything she’s accomplished, and done so with grace and humility. So many women and girls can identify with her story.”

yeahh i agree with what was said directly above by Suzie!! But, at first I was practically laughing at the “mistake” because that would be such a horrible thing to do, mess up her name. but i know realize that Sasha is short for Natasha, Sasha is her nickname, but it’s the name that she is called and goes by. To clear things up lol very cool idea though to have Alicia Keys do this in a photoshoot, gorgeous pic!! very cute, and i love what Alicia said about Michelle Obama!!! great quote, i love Alicia Keys and the Obamas!!!

Her name is Natasha but they call her Sasha for short. I think Alicia and Michelle are both beautiful but they look nothing alike. They could have gotten a different actress/singer/model.
Really?! they couldn’t use an actress who wasn’t biracial?! Not saying there’s anything wrong with biracial people, but Michelle Obama has two black parents.
I also love Alicia Keys, and her music.
I agree with Janelle and Jilli. Alicia and Michelle are beautiful but they have completley different looks. It’s like if they had michelle posing as Alicia. It’s odd. Couldn’t they have gotten someone who looks more like Michelle.
I agree with Jilli and Janelle, for pete’s sake there were no fully black women who could’ve done this. I have nothing against Alicia, I love her work; but it seems like this would be the one instance where women who are fully black are more recognized. I hate that they always put lighter skinned people up as more beautiful it really makes those who aren’t feel bad
I don’t think this is about finding a look-alike, she is portraying herself as an impression of Michelle Obama. She’s an icon herself, acting as another icon. Its an artistic representation and I think Alicia Keys is a great choice. I hope there are more pictures to come and less criticisms.
They could have find someone who looked like M.O. to a tee, but what would be interesting about that? We may as well look at M.O. herself in that case. Here you have someone you recognize, portraying herself as someone else you recognize. I think it is really nice and complementary to all involved.

Are you serious? They just decided to pick any old black chick. They could have at least picked someone a little darker, like Michelle. People are forever trying to “lighten” poor Michelle. Man, dark skinned girls don’t get any love.

What’s your take on Chas. Marquez Jr.’s skill level ?? Do you think he may someday be as good as Angel Codero Jr. was i his prime. I met Marquez Jr. about 5 yrs ago right 2 races after a spill at 1/8th pole about mid-pack and moving up at OP race 6; seemed like a real nice kid and I like his riding style and perseverance.

I’m disappointed in their choice of models for the First Ladies; they coud’ve chosen India Arie, Janet Jackson, Brandy, or even Halle who’s darker than Alicia; and notice how yellow the “daughters” are; it’s so annoying how america seems to only associate darker skin in negative ads and lighter skin in the positive ones; but that’s the world we llive in.

Alicia keys did a great job portraying Michelle Obama. This picture is just a recognition from one icon to another who cares if the skin color is different. Alicia is still a black women representing another black women, so let’s leave the color issue alone and move forward.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Alicia, she’s gorgeous and extremely talented. Nice personality, great voice, good entertainer and artist and very pretty but why the hell would they choose her to portray Michelle Obama??????!!!!!! I know it’s not about race, it’s just Glamour and they want to make people forget about colors but damn, they still could have used other darker skinnded ladies to do this! Alicia? you kiddin’ me, right?! I agree with those who say that they could have used Brandy, Gabrielle Union or even Halle berry!! just not Alicia, she’s wayy too light skinned for such a portrayal……why is this soooooooo wrong to take a dark skinned girl for an ad to promote the now first Lady of America? get over the fact that Michelle is very dark skinned fellas……..

They are about the same generation so they have fight prejudice in their respecytive core business at the same time. They have the same journey, have both young children, both have that strong black woman essence blended with a hint of vulnerability, real royal poise and grace.

Angela Basset would have been perfect for that impersonation because she is the actress who share the most percieved characteristics with Michelle.
Michell Obama is Afican America, with both of her parents being Black, Alicia Keys is bi-racial, one black parent and one white parent, there is NO reasons she should be in these ads. None what so ever. And Sasha is her “nick” name, for Natasha.

Everyone here making color skin a big deal need to really get over it and stop taking it so personal. Both of these women are smart, beautiful and have worked hard for where they stand today. They represent who lot of other women and young women should look up to. Alicia Keys and MO are are actually making moves in this world. Brandy? Indie Arie? You gotta be kiddin me. You could’ve at least said Oprah or another Black-American whose making positive moves… GET OVER IT!

I understand everyones voice about Alicia portraying Michelle. I want go into detail but I understand it. If they were wanting an actress/ songtress that was popular, why did they not chose Taraji Hinson? She is a beautiful brown skinned woman who has just come off of a wonderful experience of being nominated for an Oscar. She would have been perfect portraying Michelle.
We should be beyond a person’s skin color but when it is constantly pushed upon you that lighter is better, it gets annoying. I am sure Michelle being the educated, strong woman she is will appreciate Alicia’s portrayal but probably wishes they would have selected a woman who looks more like her and I am not talking about facially.
It’s insane that all you of have jumped from complaining about the lack of representation of African Americans in the media to now whining about the lack of darker-skinned African American represented in the media.

Alicia is the way a woman should look, white or black, she doesnt have a long nose or thin lips,and she has a nice length of hair.. but i will give my dark skin sistas love… you all are beautiful with that chocolate skin and at least you got that smooth ageless skin, when have you seen a old wrinkled up dark skin woman, no botox or face lifts for you! Plus the lips and the bootys that most dark women have is just the best, Im a black woman light skin and sometimes im jealous of my darker skinned sistas… i got the lips and booty though!

I am not really surprised at all the darker skinned black women out there making negative comments. As a white woman who exclusively dates black men I have heard from them how insecure darker black girls are and now I see it. You should feel honored that Allicia agreeded to do it. Michelle is a wonderful first lady but she is no beauty Alicia keys is beautiful to everyone that is why they used her.
