Brad Pitt meets with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic Whip James Clyburn to discuss the “Make it Right” project on Thursday (March 5) in Washington, D.C.
The 45-year-old actor received their thanks for his rebuilding efforts in New Orleans. The MIR project, launched in 2007, helps to construct affordable and environmentally-sustainable housing for low-income residents of the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans who lost their homes as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
“I just want to say thank you to the speaker for opening up her doors for us to come in and discuss the rebuilding effort, the current rebuilding effort going on in New Orleans and how we can expand this idea of affordability and sustainability because we think we have a model that works,” Brad said.
Partner Angelina Jolie is in town filming her spy flick, Salt.

Thanks Frenchy. Yeah, I saw the new X OuttaTouch cover. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t such a frightening thought. A kid with The Urinator’s big ass head and X’s big ass nose? WASHINGTON - Brad Pitt today met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic Whip James Clyburn, and received their thanks for his rebuilding efforts in New Orleans.
Pitt thanked the two Democratic leaders for the assistance provided for New Orleans and urged them to continue to help the city rebuild.
“I just want to say thank you to the speaker for opening up her doors for us to come in and discuss the rebuilding effort, the current rebuilding effort going on in New Orleans and how we can expand this idea of affordability and sustainability because we think we have a model that works,” Pitt said.
Pitt, who has a home in New Orleans with his wife, actress Angelina Jolie, founded “Make it Right” in 2007, helping build environmentally sustainable housing for low-income people displaced from their homes by Hurricane Katrina.
Pelosi, speaking with Pitt and Clyburn at a brief press availability after their Capitol meeting, said Pitt had been telling her about how the homes his foundation has built are not only “wonderful home for these families” but built to a “green standard,” with utility bills of less than $10 a month.
“It’s possible,” said Pitt.
Brilliantly done Mr. Pitt. Hopefully he can get some money to finish the 150 homes, I rather have my taxes money goes to MIR than to those banker.

Brad should be very proud of his accomplishments with MIR, he’s put alot of time and money into it as well as the people building them. Getting the word out there is the main thing since he can’t do it alone.
People always whinge!!!!!!!” WHY don’t B&A adopt American kids BLAH,BLAH, Why don,t they help their own country!BLAH, BLAH.” Now we have Brad building houses in New Orleans, when no-one else gives much of a hoot, and people still complain. If he gets some photos taken he reminds people that the problem has’nt gone away. He is going to get his pic taken away, so it may as well be for a good cause. Also, he is now 45,of course his looks are going to change and grey hair is going to arrive!!! He looks great to me, not just for his looks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to make some allowances for the Jenhags. They’re fixated on looks. They can’t deal with anything of substance. As I’ve said several times on these threads, as a group, they aren’t very bright. They also have the emotional maturity of an eleven-year-old. There’s not much you can do with people like that.
Also, their was plenty of footage of George Clooney in Washington! Talking about Durfur, why not rag on George for not helping Americans!

I love Brad and Angelina as actors but I love them even more for all the good they do to help others around the world. They’re two beautiful people, inside and out.
Angelina has got so many people on the band wagon to help the less fortunate around the world. This should be praised. The least actors, athletes and the rest of the filthy rich can do is give a damn and quit hording their riches when others are sick and dying. The real phonies are these millionairs who sit on their butts and answer phone calls from minimum wage workers donating their 50 dollars, turn around and just smile and don’t give themselves.
