First Lady Michelle Obama joins daytime diva Oprah Winfrey on the April 2009 cover of O magazine, via OK!.
“Say what you will about books-people do judge a magazine by its cover, which is why it’s important to me to keep the cover of this one looking fresh,” says Oprah. “And right now nothing – and I mean nothing – is fresher than the family that moved into the White House in January, sparking a national spirit of renewal the likes of which I’ve never seen.”
During the interview, Michelle described the White House to Oprah, saying, “It’s a beautiful home. When you go out and come back, especially at night, with all the white lights on – it’s just beautiful. We feel privileged, and we feel a responsibility to make it feel like the people’s house. We have the good fortune of being able to sleep here, but this house belongs to America.”

Man, Oprah has about as much ego as she does money. What kind of person plasters their face all over their magazine every month? Sure, she CAN because it’s hers but it’s pretty ridiculous, imo. I’m surprised she actually let somebody else share the cover with her this month.

God, can Oprah push her mind numbing adoration for the president any more than she does, in fact the only reason she’s as happy as she is is because the president is black. I think it’s safe to say that, if McCain had won, Cindy would not be gracing the cover of O. I’m just glad my (gift) subscription ended with the March issue.

magazines of color came about because blacks were not allowed before the 50’s to be on the cover of mainstream magazines. i think the first magazine to do this was time magazine. just like the advocate and out magazine came out because no mainstream magazine was talking about gay people. “ms” magazine came out to address feminism because mainstream male magazines were not addressing this. why is it hard for people to understand that certain magazines focusing on certain groups of people do so because they were shut out of the mainstream? why do we still have to explain this to people? actually, o magazine is one of the most inclusive and diverse magazines. oprah gets flack for having too many white people featured in it or gets flack for having too many black people in it. newsflash: the reason she is a billionaire is because she appeals to ALL people. and she took that appeal straight to the bank. i think this billionaire woman could not care less what anyone things. she has made it! what have you all done today?

I agree with the other posters that the only reason she’s so enamored of the Obamas is because they’re black. She certainly wouldn’t be fawning over them if they were white and Democrats. But then again, given that Obama is the Messiah incarnate, he and Oprah together should be able to solve all of the world’s problems and then ascend to their thrones in heaven.

Obviously you were not born in the United States and obviously immigrated here because if you’d been apart of this society for more than 20 years you would have known that magazines catering to whites have existed for decades and STILL do. It’s not blatant, but it’s surely implied.
The next time you open a Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Marie Claire, and on on I want you to count the number of faces of people of color or articles about them. Just last year, Vogue produced an all-black Vogue to draw attention to the fact that people of color were and continue to be virtually ignored on the runway and in print media.
I’m just amazed at the “sour haters” out there. Both Oprah and The FIRST LADY have earned the right to be in the limelight. Get a life people and make some worthwhile contribution to the world.

Indeed I wasn’t born here, but I’ve been a part of this society more than 20 years thus have heard twenty some years worth of complaints from blacks, some from Asians, but mostly blacks, regarding such and such mainstream publications, shows, movies don’t represent their race. It’s a huge case every time. Yet, none of them ever whined about, for ex., O magazine not having non-black face on the cover.
Let me get this right, Obama is the reason the economy sucks? He became President, let me get this right, in January, 2009. In two months, he is going to undo the brilliant leadership of the last eight years? My purse was certainly fuller ten years ago.
I hear the CRAP from those who were in a position to do something about it– AND WHAT DID THEY DO? No solutions then and none now! If you don’t bring ideas to the table, you can’t CRAP on those who do.

Oprah needs to get over herself and out from under the Obama’s asses. Her show and magazine are clearly a vehicle for her own opinions. Granted it’s her show, but she came from a journalistsic background and knows her show and magazine should show BOTH sides of every story. She lost me when she wouldn’t allow Sarah Palin on her show until AFTER the election. And I’m not even a huge supporter of Palin. Oprah is just as biased as FOX news.

The catty remarks about Michelle’s looks are from people who either think they are beautiful or have spent their whole life being lauded as some example of natural beauty and wonder why their looks haven’t opened doors for them.
I think Michelle is a true stunner and on top of that educated, intelligent and classy as anything. It must pain the haters to know that such a woman is married to our President and living in the White House and the only way they can vent their anger is in dissing a beautiful woman.
Get a life people and stop focusing on irrelevant things such as looks. Michelle Obama doesn’t even know that you exist and here you are expending precious moments of YOUR life being an utter fool.
