First Lady Michelle Obama joins daytime diva Oprah Winfrey on the April 2009 cover of O magazine, via OK!.
“Say what you will about books-people do judge a magazine by its cover, which is why it’s important to me to keep the cover of this one looking fresh,” says Oprah. “And right now nothing – and I mean nothing – is fresher than the family that moved into the White House in January, sparking a national spirit of renewal the likes of which I’ve never seen.”
During the interview, Michelle described the White House to Oprah, saying, “It’s a beautiful home. When you go out and come back, especially at night, with all the white lights on – it’s just beautiful. We feel privileged, and we feel a responsibility to make it feel like the people’s house. We have the good fortune of being able to sleep here, but this house belongs to America.”

Aw, how cute! Oprah was captured praying at the altar of Michelle Obama. OMG but that woman is annoying. I agree with the other posters that the only reason she’s so enamored of the Obamas is because they’re black. She certainly wouldn’t be fawning over them if they were white and Democrats. But then again, given that Obama is the Messiah incarnate, he and Oprah together should be able to solve all of the world’s problems and then ascend to their thrones in heaven.

Whoever chose this shot (Ibet you a million it was O) is an idiot. It just plays up the fact that Oprah treats everything she loves as a religious experience. She gets so dogmatic and invested in hyping up people and things that she deems worthy and it just goes over the top IMO. Now Michelle is awesome and worthy of respect. However I would have liked to see more her and less Oprah on the cover. Those prayer hands look ridiculous even as it surely wasn’t meant that way. At least I don’t think so.

Obviously you were not born in the United States and obviously immigrated here because if you’d been apart of this society for more than 20 years you would have known that magazines catering to whites have existed for decades and STILL do. It’s not blatant, but it’s surely implied.
The next time you open a Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Marie Claire, and on on I want you to count the number of faces of people of color or articles about them. Just last year, Vogue produced an all-black Vogue to draw attention to the fact that people of color were and continue to be virtually ignored on the runway and in print media.
I’m just amazed at the “sour haters” out there. Both Oprah and The FIRST LADY have earned the right to be in the limelight. Get a life people and make some worthwhile contribution to the world.

Indeed I wasn’t born here, but I’ve been a part of this society more than 20 years thus have heard twenty some years worth of complaints from blacks, some from Asians, but mostly blacks, regarding such and such mainstream publications, shows, movies don’t represent their race. It’s a huge case every time. Yet, none of them ever whined about, for ex., O magazine not having non-black face on the cover.
Let me get this right, Obama is the reason the economy sucks? He became President, let me get this right, in January, 2009. In two months, he is going to undo the brilliant leadership of the last eight years? My purse was certainly fuller ten years ago.
I hear the CRAP from those who were in a position to do something about it– AND WHAT DID THEY DO? No solutions then and none now! If you don’t bring ideas to the table, you can’t CRAP on those who do.
A GOOD LEADER DOES NOT NEED TO KNOW IT ALL. A GOOD LEADER WILL REACH OUT TO THOSE WHO MIGHT HAVE SOME ANSWERS. OBAMA DID THAT! AND WHAT DID THEY DO? Reached out to RushLimpology!

And as for blacks not represented on the runways and fashion magazines, the designers cater to the majority who buy their clothes/products, and I see plenty blacks faces. Interesting, even Oprah caters to all races? If she could get all her billion dollars from blacks, she would have catered to blacks only. I could ask why she doesn’t have Asians.
Oprah needs to get over herself and out from under the Obama’s asses. Her show and magazine are clearly a vehicle for her own opinions. Granted it’s her show, but she came from a journalistsic background and knows her show and magazine should show BOTH sides of every story. She lost me when she wouldn’t allow Sarah Palin on her show until AFTER the election. And I’m not even a huge supporter of Palin. Oprah is just as biased as FOX news.
Leave it to these two hags to cheapen the First Ladyship and the Office of the Presidency in general.
Michelle looks great… very nice outfit and I wouldnt go for a plastic belt but it actually works for that outfit.. I think Michelle shouldve been on the cover alone however, Oprah kinda ruins it! lol

hey voe, i usually don’t chat with community college rejects but here goes: most magazines DO cater to whites. when was the last time you saw a black person on the cover of town and country, vogue (mo was the last one in like a year), etc? are you saying the advocate should have straight people on their cover? why doesn’t cosmopolitan do an all gay issue? should glamour not cater to women? should not cater to men? should child magazine only feature adults and not children? is there no room for magazines focusing on interest groups? should a korean magazine start portraying more russians in their magazines? rhodes scholar you are not. there might be an opening at 711 but i’d bet you would be rejected as check out boy. you need to be literate to even get that job!

The catty remarks about Michelle’s looks are from people who either think they are beautiful or have spent their whole life being lauded as some example of natural beauty and wonder why their looks haven’t opened doors for them.
I think Michelle is a true stunner and on top of that educated, intelligent and classy as anything. It must pain the haters to know that such a woman is married to our President and living in the White House and the only way they can vent their anger is in dissing a beautiful woman.
Get a life people and stop focusing on irrelevant things such as looks. Michelle Obama doesn’t even know that you exist and here you are expending precious moments of YOUR life being an utter fool. Get a hobby, do some charity work, join the gym, do anything that will get you a life. Michelle’s living her life so go on and live yours.

If I were born here with parents to support me, with special consideration given left and right because of my skin color, I’d be Harvard or/and Princeton educated too, if I wanted, and this if is important dear, for it makes the difference.

We as a nation will never be racist free. With Oprah it is so obvious how racist she really is. Why doesn’t she just get on her knees and kiss her feet. We know nothing about Mrs. Obama except for the fact that she is finally proud of this country. Well Mrs. Obama if you were in another country you wouldn’t be where you are now. By allowing a race to disciminate to get get back at the ones that discriminated them is truly sad. Yes, what happened in the past was horrible but to get back at people that had nothing to do with it is wrong. Like I wrote earlier, we will never be racist free with the obvious stuff that the Oprah’s of the world are doing. Unleashed at last?
