I’m a a SAG regional movie actor (Mid-Atlantic USA States) and participated in the recent (March 2009) on-location movie shooting of SALT (2010 Columbia) as a supporting actor. I worked on SALT for the entire work day, Thursday, March 5, 2009.

The weather problems and temporary health problems of SALT movie director, Phillip Noyce, delayed the first day of the Wash. DC on-location shoot, which was originally scheduled for March 3, 09, but moved up two days to March 5, 09. Brutally cold weather (which set a major cold temperature record for that date) took place on March 3, 09, and the scene was supposed to be in early Spring, in warm pleasant weather. It was STILL cold on March 5, but not as bad as March 3, when the shoot date arrived. Director Phillip Noyce was back in good health, and on hand to direct the shoot.

The scene being shot (which took about 6 hours to shoot) was a dramatic and colorful chase in which CIA (but born in Russia) double agent operative Angelina Jolie (whose character name is “Salt” in the movie, hence the movie title) is persued by CIA manager Liev Schreiber and his enforcement assistant, played by Wash. DC actor of fame, Kahaki Davidson (who is 6′7″ tall and famous for his height and many roles playing CIA, Secret Service and other law enforcement roles in the past decade in the Mid-Atlantic USA states area).

It was VERY energetic (and well acted) to almost a violent level….a life and death chase. It was VERY long, and went for a space of about two city blocks climaxing when the persued Angelina Jolie (who is quite an athlete) darts down into the METRO (National Archives Station) subway escalator entrance, and is quickly followed by her two CIA persuers, Schreiber and Davidson. (this was shot many times with the main actors running a very long distance NEVER losing energy, which was quite impressive….the 7th “take” was as energetic and as good as the first take).

DC) because of “Parparazzi” intrusion and disruption of the scene.

“Paparazzi” were actually chased away long distances in BODY OF LIES before shooting was re-commenced.

The movie was obviously very important as Hollywood ranks and counts movies.

First class actor talent, first class technical crew back up, very well thought out shoot locations and plans, and very interesting and creative (and chance taking) uses of famous Wash. DC public locations hard to work in and probably hard to get permission from the Wash. DC govt. to shoot it.

The March 5, 09 shoot located in the public parks across the street the the north side of the National Archives Building located in the 700 block of Pennsylvania Ave. NW and 7th St. NW was remarkable and very well done and thought out, very creative and interesting.

If the editing is done well, and a good representation of the day’s work is presented on the big screen, and later on video versions of the movie, the March 5, 09 shoot will be a major part of a very successful, memorable, and exciting movie.

As usual, it was an honor and pleasure to be part of such a noble, if gruelling, undertaking, and most actors and crew members part of the March 5, 09 SALT (2010 Columbia) shoot would agree.

It’s 2:30pm and it’s sunny, windy and 66 degrees. Sunday was almost 80 degrees. It’s beautiful and now I’m mad that I haven’t already lost this winter weight. Long jackets with my suits til I work this off.

Earlier people were complaining because they were filming on E Street NW and hadn’t anticipated needing to close off traffic lanes. Well, at the last minute they realized they did need closed off traffic lanes along the location site and sooooo during rush hour this morning the police gave them permission. The street is very busy during rush hour so closing it and right in the heart of rush hour traffic. I haven’t seen the extent of the film location but I imagine it’s a scene involving the State Department or the White House or both (E Street is near both) and she’s supposed to be suspected of wanting to get the prez.

Saw that Brad picked up Angie from the set on the second day here. I hope the kids had a chance to go out on the Potomac. It’s great boat ride for kids - and adults. The smaller boats are more fun and the ride is just the right time so they don’t get too antsy. We regularly rent them for parties. Evening into sunset on the Potomac is just lovely.

You’re right about people who see Angie in person. My colleagues who saw her on the set all remarked how simply beautiful she is. Also how small she seems. She’s not short but she is petite.

Changeling was the best film of the year and Angie did a phenomenal job as Christine Collins. I do belive she should of won an oscar for that role too..absolutely.

WASHINGTON - The vision of one of the world’s most famous and beautiful movie stars running up and down 18th Street shocked locals and brought District traffic to a standstill Monday.

The star was Angelina Jolie and she was in D.C. on the set of her new movie. The newly blonde and barefoot Jolie darted through traffic and a crowd of extras over and over again.

People on the street were excited to have a little bit of Hollywood glamour in their backyard. “I was surprised at how short she is,” said Alexandra Kosmides, a D.C employee.

“If Angelina is here, Brad is here,” said Lindsay Galley, a tourist.

The cameras and crews disrupted the typical Monday foot and vehicle traffic. Pedestrians even had to deal with the paparazzi.

The film’s plot involves a CIA agent who is accused of being a Russian mole. The lead character must fight to clear her name and prove she is indeed a patriot.

Unfortunately for some of the people camped out on various street corners, the day ended without a good look at a real-life movie star.

Thanks to WWL-TV anchor Lee Zurik for another fine investigative story about the Nagin administration. According to Zurik’s investigation, the Nagin administration has millions in federal housing money that it is not spending.

The city could lose $11 million in federal funds if it does not spend those dollars on affordable housing projects by a May 31 deadline. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds have not been spent by the Nagin administration. It is so bad that HUD sent the city a letter demanding that the city utilize these funds or risk losing them. New Orleans Recovery Director Ed Blakely will ask for another extension, but HUD has already granted the city extra time and is not inclined to give New Orleans more time.

Of course this money could be extremely helpful in the recovery of New Orleans post-Katrina. Drive through any neighborhood in New Orleans and you will see houses that have not been repaired and empty lots. New Orleans probably has more affordable housing needs than any other city in the nation. It is a tragedy that the Nagin administration is not taking advantage of a housing program that is available for the city to utilize.

Every year, New Orleans receives approximately $6 million in federal funds for affordable housing projects. Zurik discovered that in the past fifteen years New Orleans had failed to spend $35 million in affordable housing funds. In fact, since Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans has not spent any affordable housing funds.

According to Blakely, the city has not allocated these funds because of a lack of available non-profits and contractors who were unable to spend the dollars. As usual, Blakely is making a fool of himself. This area has a plethora of qualified non-profit organizations and many capable contractors. If Blakely would spend less time traveling to Australia and more time on his job, then maybe he would understand the situation in New Orleans. ******In fact, Brad Pitt’s Make it Right Foundation is a great example of an organization that could have benefited from some of these squandered funds.

The trail of Nagin administration incompetence just continues and continues. The Nagin administration has been able to distract some of the citizens by injecting race into the discussion of every controversy. However, competence should not be based on race, but accomplishments in office. On that level, Nagin’s administration has very little to show to the people of New Orleans.

The City Council should step up and insist that these funds are used and that people of New Orleans receive the help that the federal government, with little to no help from Nagin and Blakely, is trying to provide.

Actor and activist George Clooney has already brought his plea for peace in Darfur to the White House. In separate meetings last month, he pressed both President Obama and Vice President Biden to resuscitate diplomatic efforts to end the atrocities and starvation in war-torn Sudan.

Now the 47-year-old actor is blogging about his experiences on a recent trip to the region. Arguing that “there’s nothing new to report,” Clooney says in his Daily Beast blog that not much has changed from his last trip. And, in a candid moment of confession, the Academy Award winner acknowledges that activists working in a 24/7 media echo chamber are always looking for fresh outrage.

“Finding a new outrage is the only way to catch the world’s attention,” he wrote. “You spend your time looking for (and even secretly hoping for) something or someone tragic to report. A good personal story to get the attention away from what dominates our days and nights. The economy. Iraq. Ponzi schemes. The Oscars.”

Clooney is not the only Hollywood figure to enjoy access to Washington’s political powers, or express interest in political causes. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were in town last week.

She was filming the movie “Salt,” about a CIA agent racing against the clock to disprove charges she is a Russian sleeper spy. When I saw that post on the other thread earlier I just shook my head. On the face of it - from a scientific standpoint - the theory of woman taking male hormones to LOSE weight is ridiculous. Frankly she’d be more likely to GAIN WEIGHT than lose it. Could people PLEASE use a little common sense. Just do a little research on the ingestion of male hormones by women and look at the side effects. And then there are other issues - First of all there’s the issue of exactly which hormone was she taking? Testosterone being just one of many male hormones. All women produce a small amount of testosterone. Menopausal women are given testosterone as part of HRT. There also how was she taking the hormones - was it a shot, a pill or a cream? Different hormones and different delivery methods have different side effects. The original rumor said she was taking hormone shots. That carries the highest risk of side effects and of course the dosage is another issue. How high was the dose? How long was she doing them? How frequently was she taking them? Etc., etc., etc. The side effects depend on the hormone and ceasing of periods is one side effect, as is spotting between periods, rashes, facial hair, increased muscularity, weight gain, etc. Just more fuckery from X and Huvane to distract from her being a total loser.

Hello. SOmeone please tell this child that celebrities have been hiring political/philanthropic advsiers since the 1980s at least.

I remember when Bruce Springsteen hired one in the mid 1980s and there were plenty of articles about it. He needed advice where and how to donate his money and use his influence. There are plenty of other celebs who have, too.

It’s an intelligent and practical thing to do. Humanitarian efforts and charitable donations can be very complicated and can end up just wasting money if you don’t have someone vetting the organizations and advising the best way to donate your money and time.

Do these so called journalists ever bother to do any research before they write these articles? They don’t even have to trudge to the library or Congress or anywhere to get most information anymore. Which makes it all the more pathetic that they are so ignorant about their subjects.

World War Z Update

UK, March 6, 2009 - Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster gave IGN a quick update on his adaptation of Max Brook’s zombie-heavy novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War.

He told us: “At this point, its still in development. I’m still working on the script, so I don’t know if it will be my next movie. It’s a book I really like and I think it’s a subject matter that would be really interesting to turn into a movie.”

A follow-up to Brook’s The Zombie Survival Guide, the book takes the form of a series of interviews with survivors of a Zombie war. This aspect is something that Forster seems keen to replicate in the film: “What I like about the book is that it’s not a straight-forward story. It has these interesting different elements to it.”

Forster is clearly a fan of the genre, saying he loves early zombie movies. However, expect World War Z to be a departure from the likes of Day of the Dead: “It won’t be a straight-forward genre piece; it’s like a hybrid type of film so it will be very unusual.”

J. Michael Straczynski is writing the script.

I was surprised that their wasn’t more comments on the new thread of JA posted only a few hours after this one. There has been at least a week since we last heard about JA on here. Although I didn’t read the page long resume that accompanied a picture of JA with her on again boyfriend. I did read some of the comments, and the majority of those comments are regarding the fact that Aniston never wanted children of her own and is a fraud.

I’m just glad Brad Pitt has found the true”love of his life” and has a beautiful and happy family that he deserves. I know Brad doesn’t have to keep looking back and asking “what if?”, like his x still does.

You misunderstand the source of the glee. We know Brad dumping X was about more than kids. Hell, I’ve enumerated the reasons myself on a number of occasions. HOWEVER, the reason we’re all cackling is because we’ve said all along that X never wanted kids and had lied to Brad - and her fans and the general public - about it her entire career because the MVM is her main fan base. There’s nothing wrong with a woman not wanting kids…but lying and saying you do simply for the sake of being popular? That’s just pathetic and lame. Plus, once people realize how easily X perpetrated that lie they’ll start to wonder what else she’s been lying about all these years. The glee we’re experiencing is over X showing her true colors and revealing herself to be a narcissistic lying btich.

Also - don’t even get me started on Brad saying kids didn’t feel right until Angie. He built a nursery in his BH house with X. He bought Putrid a baby carriage for her birthday shortly after they started dating. At some point early in the marriage Brad stopped wanting kids with X - for obvious reasons - but he’s doing a little history revising himself and I think that was a deliberate slam at X for her “uncool” remarks. That’s why it pisses me off that the tabs say Angie has been taking swipes at X with her comments about falling in love filming M&MS, etc. Brad has taken more than his fair share of swipes and the tabs don’t report it and they certainly don’t play it up like they did with Angie. Brad practically threw X under a bus in that V article - yet the tabs ignored it.

The French do not like Maniston whatsoever, we think that she is a joke of a woman and actress. Angelina is far more superior than her, how can she be compared in anyway. Brad did not have children with her because he did not want to risk having mentally slow babies that would have to be placed in learning disability schooling. He said it all in the interview that having children with Angie was a “natural” process. There was nothing forced, or stressed, it was just beautiful, and organic; the way it should be. Angie had a purpose in life, an unselfish one at that. While she loved acting but she saw the bigger things and more important things in life. Angelina may not be the most spiritual person before, but after she adopted Maddox and became a mum whether she knowingly did or not she has become a more spiritual person. She is positive, loving, motherly, totally into her man, helps the less fortunate, makes an honest living, and has a big heart. That is truly commendable, her past is there but the way she lives her life in the present is a tribute to all of us that has yet to come into our own. Having Brad in her life has made her more defined in her womanhood. And Brad having Angie in his life has not only blossomed his career, made him father, but has also turned him into what the definition of a real man is. Its not about worship, we cannot worship nor idolize mere mortals, because that is all they are. But we can admire them for fighting against the odds and comingo out on top.

I remember laughing at that. I said it then and I’ll say it again - NOBODY IN THE U.S. CARES ABOUT PRO SOCCER OR PRO SOCCER PLAYERS (unless it was Mia Hamm). Becks was way past him prime when he came here. And he’s not even a scorer. So it’s not like it was going to be the second coming of Pele. And Posh is nobody without the Spice Girls…and their heyday was 10 years in the past when the two of them came to the States.

I loved Bone Collector. I’m partial to movies where women have traditional male jobs and outshine them. I’m such a sexist!

Jolie was very good in that role and my heart just broke for Queen Latifah. There was some decent chemistry between Jolie and Washington but it was a pretty creepy movie.

So the next few Saturdays Jolie will be filming a funeral scene with the NYPD? Something like that. I guess they’ve left my neighborhood. Boo hoo. I thought I read they were coming back but not sure where I read it.
