I just hate how much of a big deal everyone is making of her given that her part in Slumdog was really quite tiny, and required no acting skills at all. I’d rather really talented newcomers with full acting CVs get all the press, rather than just the pretty ones…

Freida is such a wannabe. She is living the high life based on a 10 minute role in a movie. The kids made that movie and they are back living in the slums. Go figure.

why are people going crazy over this laday? first of all her looks are not all that, she is not even talented, why all this fuss about her? please let her get her 15 minutes fame and move on I’m sick of her seen everywhere, its like begging for money, they should have done more for those kids in the movie then they are doing on this untaltend woman, anything she wears looks bad on her she doesn’t have that body.

Some Indians cannot stand her because she made it big with not much of an effort. But that is life, when things go your way you got to grab them. Good for her that she is enjoying the moment. And she is pretty in a very unique way not Aishwarya type barbie doll looks. In fact, most Indians won’t consider her a beauty and they cannot take it when westerners see her as pretty.

Am quite shocked at the lack of desi support. Anyone who knows Bollywood knows that the sterotypical look there is sadly a Western-clone (i.e #6) out there. Frieda does not color her hair blonde.. wear fake contacts to make her eye color a different shade.. or wear tons of makeup. No artifice which rules Bollywood.. & Hollywood..

She looks like what she naturally is– a great natural beauty.
And a reflection that true beauty transcends all color boundaries.

A lot of sour grapes out there against Freida.. sadly coming from the Mumbai elite clan thinking: how dare she get to be the Cinderella of the ball…. why not us.. ? why in the world did the shoe fit on Frieda…?

The Bollywood crowd only like actors to look Afghani or white. They never hire Tamil and rarely Sri Lankans. They blame this self-loathing on the British but it is up to them to change. Watch Bollywood movies and you will see that most of the actors look nothing like the Indians, Frieda is closer to the real Indian woman that you see everyday.

well i really liked her before but I think I have a Freida overdose now. She is everywhere and it is getting so boring

I think she’s pretty. That’s it. Her role in Slumdog doesn’t exactly prove her acting chops so we’ll see how she does in her next movie. I do agree with some of the comments here that there has been too much of Frieda lately. Awards season’s over. Too much is not necessarily a good thing.

BTW i’m totally feeling the Chanel Dress. Fabulous.

Her looks are not typically what Indian audiences go for. They prefer voluptuous bodies and full faces. Her appeal definitely skews to westerners and she has a decent chance of scoring roles in big movies - especially international action films like Bond and Bourne and spy thrillers that are set on an international canvas.
And even though we don’t know her personally, I can guarantee that she is totally thrilled about being accepted in Hollywood and overseas. She doesn’t give a crap about Bollywood now because pretty much, a lot of Indian girls are crazy for American and non Indian stuff. I’m not saying all Indian girls so please don’t start writing angry responses - those of you who love Bollywood. !!!

I like her a lot but it’s not normal than the REAL star who is only 18, younger, precocious, 10 times more talented and more visible in the movie is like seen 10 times less than Freida in the media.

It’s not normal and fair at all. Dev Patel is probably one of the most talented teen and true rising star right now, one of the most talented. He sdeserved to be recongnized as such and should have a more visible place in the media than the hot pretty young thing who plays third fiddle along him and the kids in an acclaimed movie.

I see most indian and indian girls are jealous of Freida pinto. In india people get famous if you have white skin and god father in film industry and ready sleep with all producers. So she may look like normal to their eye as indian culture is obsessed with fair skin , big boob beauties. So it is shock to them wonder why slim beauty is famous in the west. Sour grapes!.

Freida looks elegant in almost every dress. who cares she can act or not. She is looking good in dress and camera friendly. Go Freida!.

I agree she’s very pretty, and I think that like anyone else would she is taking full advantage of her current fame. There is nothing wrong with that. However, I do think the spotlight on her is a bit surprising, because for me watching the movie I was smitten by those children and Dev Patel and I think they should be just as exposed. But perhaps, it’s by choice that they are not as overexposed as Freida Pinto chooses to be. I guess we’ll never know….but she should enjoy the ride. Fame is fickle so you gotta take it when you got it!
